Machine learning empowers efficient design of ternary organic solar cells with PM6 donor

Organic solar cells(OSCs) hold great potential as a photovoltaic technology for practical ***, the traditional experimental trial-and-error method for designing and engineering OSCs can be complex, expensive, and time-consuming. Machine learning(ML) techniques enable the proficient extraction of information from datasets, allowing the development of realistic models that are capable of predicting the efficacy of materials with commendable accuracy. The PM6 donor has great potential for high-performance OSCs. However, it is crucial for the rational design of a ternary blend to accurately forecast the power conversion efficiency(PCE) of ternary OSCs(TOSCs) based on a PM6 ***, we collected the device parameters of PM6-based TOSCs and evaluated the feature importance of their molecule descriptors to develop predictive models. In this study, we used five different ML algorithms for analysis and prediction. For the analysis, the classification and regression tree provided different rules, heuristics, and patterns from the heterogeneous dataset. The random forest algorithm outperforms other prediction ML algorithms in predicting the output performance of PM6-based TOSCs. Finally, we validated the ML outcomes by fabricating PM6-based TOSCs. Our study presents a rapid strategy for assessing a high PCE while elucidating the substantial influence of diverse descriptors.

For efficient colloidal quantum dot(CQD)solar cells(CQD-SCs),thiol-passivated p-type CQDs are generally used as a hole-transporting material(HTM);however,there are issues with the control of optoelectrical properties,low thiol passivation rate,and poor morphology with a power conversion efficiency(PCE)of approximately 11%.Although polymeric HTMs have been introduced to address these issues,maximizing efficiency and achieving green-solvent processability and thermal stability for commercialization is ***,we synthesize a novel benzodifuran(BDF)-based HTM(asy-ranPBTBDF)showing an electron-deficient state,low steric hindrance,and low planarity compared to those of a typical benzodithiophene(BDT)-based HTM(asy-ranPBTBDT).BDF properties lead to deep high occupied molecular orbital(HOMO)levels,closeπ-πstacking,excellent solubility,and amorphous properties related to efficiency,green-solvent processability,and thermal *** these benefits,the asy-ranPBTBDF-based CQD-SC showed enhanced open-circuit voltage(Voc)(0.65 V)and PCE(13.29%)compared to those of the asy-ranPBTBDT-based device(0.63 V and 12.22%)in toxic processes with *** asy-ranPBTBDF-based CQD-SC showed a PCE of 12.51%in a green-solvent process with 2-methylanisole and improved thermal stability at 80℃(83.8%retaining after 24 h)owing to less lateral crystallization than the asy-ranPBTBDT-based device(60.8%retaining after 24 h).

The Effect of Diffuser Angle on the Discharge Coefficient of a Miniature Critical Nozzle

Many researches on critical nozzles have been performed to accurately measure the mass flow rate of gas flow,and to standardize the performance as a flow ***,much interest is being paid on the measurement of very small mass flow rate in industry fields such as MEMS ***,the design and performance data of the critical nozzles obtained so far have been applied mainly to the critical nozzles with comparatively large diameters,and the works available on miniature critical nozzles are *** the present study,a computational fluid dynamics method has been applied to investigate the influence of the diffuser angle on discharge coefficient of the miniature critical *** computations,the throat diameter of critical nozzle is varied from 0.2 mm to 5.0 mm and the diffuser angle is changed from 2 deg to 8 *** computational results are validated with some experimental data *** results show that the present computational results predict appropriately the discharge coefficient of the gas flows through miniature critical *** is known that the discharge coefficient is considerably influenced by the diffuser angle,as the throat diameter of nozzle becomes small below a certain *** implies that the miniature critical nozzles should be carefully designed.

Genome-wide association study identifies QTL for eight fruit traits in cultivated tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.)

Genome-wide association study(GWAS)is effective in identifying favorable alleles for traits of interest with high mapping resolution in crop *** this study,we conducted GWAS to explore quantitative trait loci(QTL)for eight fruit traits using 162 tomato accessions with diverse genetic *** eight traits included fruit weight,fruit width,fruit height,fruit shape index,pericarp thickness,locule number,fruit firmness,and *** variations of these traits in the tomato collection were evaluated with three replicates in field trials over three *** filtered 34,550 confident SNPs from the 51K Axiom®tomato array based on5%of minor allele frequency for association *** 162 tomato accessions were divided into seven clusters and their membership coefficients were used to account for population structure along with a kinship *** identify marker-trait associations(MTAs),four phenotypic data sets representing each of three years and combined were independently analyzed in the multilocus mixed model(MLMM).A total of 30 significant MTAs was detected over data sets for eight fruit traits at P<*** number of MTA per trait ranged from one(brix)to seven(fruit weight and fruit width).Two SNP markers on chromosomes 1 and 2 were significantly associated with multiple traits,suggesting pleiotropic effects of ***,16 of 30 MTAs suggest potential novel QTL for eight fruit *** results facilitate genetic dissection of tomato fruit traits and provide a useful resource to develop molecular tools for improving fruit traits via marker-assisted selection and genomic selection in tomato breeding programs.

Fractionation of heavy metals in runoff and discharge of a stormwater management system and its implications for treatment

A stormwater management system utilizing the mechanisms of sedimentation and filtration/infiltration was developed and constructed for the immobilization of suspended solids and heavy metal constituents （Fe, Zn, Pb, Cr, Cu, Cd, Ni） in runoff. Monitoring took place between May 2010 and November 2012 on a total of 24 storm events. This research on the fractionation of heavy metals in runoff and discharge of a stormwater system provided insight on the actual efficiency of the system and determined the implications for treatment of the particulate-bound and dissolved heavy metals in runoff. Results revealed that the partitioning of heavy metal load in runoff in either dissolved or particulate-bound were influenced by flow rate and total suspended solids load, and evident in high-intensity storm （rainfall-runoff event）. On the other hand, the partitioning of heavy metal load discharge from the stormwater system was more apparent during the early period of discharge having higher variability in dissolved than particulate-bound heavy metal. Findings revealed that fractionation of heavy metals played an important role in the performance of the stormwater system; thus, must be considered in designing stormwater systems. For the stormwater system to be effective, it is recommended to design the system treating not only the early period of a storm （first flush criteria） rather until the peak part of the hydrograph （high flow rate where partitioning was greatest） from a load basis.

Dieback of spruce plantations: Deadwood stands and management heterogeneity enhance beetle diversity and habitat connectivity

Forest ecosystems are important for biodiversity conservation and human societies, but are under pressure due to climate change and human interventions. This applies to natural forests as well as tree plantations. The latter are globally widespread and therefore gaining increasing importance for biodiversity conservation. However, even after dieback due to increasing disturbance frequencies, such plantations are primarily managed for economic returns, leading to growing conflicts among stakeholders. In particular, the impact of forest management on biodiversity is being discussed. This study investigates the effects of five management approaches in a landscape severely affected by spruce (Picea abies L.) dieback on beetle diversity, conservation, and community composition. We considered direct effects of management and indirect effects of environmental parameters separately in ground-dwelling and flight-active beetles. Beetle diversity was strongly affected by forest management, with nonintervention deadwood stands being most beneficial for beetles. In addition, we show indirect effects of environmental factors. In general, parameters related to salvage logging (e.g. open canopies, tree stumps) influenced beetle diversity and conservation negatively, while positive effects were found for soil nutrient availability and plant species richness. Community composition differed strongly among management categories and indicated a lack of landscape connectivity for open habitat species, as we found only low proportions of such species even on salvage-logged sites. We propose a mixture of management approaches after bark beetle outbreaks, including a substantial proportion of non-intervention deadwood stands, to increase landscape heterogeneity and connectivity. This may increase overall biodiversity while addressing the concerns of both forestry and species conservation.

Prominent cycling reversibility and kinetics enabled by CaTiO_(3) protective layer on Zn metal for aqueous Zn-ion batteries

Aqueous Zn-ion batteries (AZIBs) have received considerable attention owing to their various advantages such as safety,low cost,simple battery assembly conditions,and high ionic ***,they still suffer from serious problems,including uncontrollable dendrite growth,corrosion,hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) from water decomposition,electrode passivation,and unexpected *** creation of a uniform artificial nanocrystal layer on the Zn anode surface is a promising strategy for resolving these ***,we propose the use of a perovskite CaTiO_(3)(CTO) protective layer on Zn(CTO@Zn) as a promising approach for improving the performance of *** CTO artificial layer provides an efficient pathway for Zn ion diffusion towards the Zn metal because of the high dielectric constant (εr=180) and ferroelectric characteristics that enable the alignment of dipole moments and redistribute the Zn^(2+)ions in the CTO *** avoiding the direct contact of the Zn anode with the electrolyte solution,the uneven dendrite growth,corrosion,parasitic side reactions,and HER are mitigated,while CTO retains its mechanical and chemical robustness during ***,CTO@Zn demonstrates an improved lifespan in a symmetric cell configuration compared with bare ***@Zn shows steady overpotential (~68 m V) for 1500 h at 1 mA cm^(-2)/0.5 mA h cm^(-2),excelling bare ***,when paired with the V_(2)O_(5)-C cathode,the CTO@Zn//V_(2)O_(5)-C full battery delivers 148.4 mA h g^(-1)(based on the mass of the cathode) after 300 *** study provides new insights into Zn metal anodes and the development of high-performance AZIBs.

Classifying extrahepatic bile duct metachronous carcinoma by de novo neoplasia site

Extrahepatic bile duct(EHBD)cancer may occur metachronously,and these cancers are resectable with a favorable *** aimed to identify the pattern of metachronous EHBD *** classified the cases of metachronous EHBD cancer reported in the literature thus far and investigated two new cases of metachronous EHBD cancer.A 70-year-old female underwent R0 bile duct resection for a type 1 Klatskin tumor(pT-1N0M0).A 70-year-old male patient underwent R0 bile duct resection for a middle bile duct cancer(pT2N1M0).Imaging studies of both patients taken at 14 and 24mo after first surgery respectively revealed a metachronous cholangiocarcinoma that required pancreaticoduodenectomy(PD).Histopathology of the both tumors after PD revealed cholangiocarcinoma invading the pancreas(pT3N0M0).Both patients have been free from recurrence for 6 years and 16 mo respectively after the second *** a review of the literature on these cases,we classified the pattern of metachronous EHBD cancer according to the site of de novo *** proximal remnant bile duct was most commonly *** EHBD cancer should be distinguished from an unresectable recurrent *** metachronous EHBD cancer may be helpful in identifying rare metachronous tumors.
