Fleshy fruit texture is a critically important quality characteristic of ripe *** is an irreversible process which operates in most fleshy fruits during ripening which,together with changes in color and taste,contributes to improvements in mouthfeel and general *** results mainly from the expression of genes encoding enzymes responsible for cell wall modifications but starch degradation and high levels of flavonoids can also contribute to texture *** fleshy fruit undergo lignification during development and post-harvest,which negatively affects eating *** softening can also lead to physical damage and infection,particularly during transport and storage which causes severe supply chain *** transcription factors(TFs)that regulate fruit texture by controlling the expression of genes involved in cell wall and starch metabolism have been *** TFs directly regulate cell wall targets,while others act as part of a broader regulatory program governing several aspects of the ripening *** this review,we focus on advances in our understanding of the transcriptional regulatory mechanisms governing fruit textural change during fruit development,ripening and *** targets for breeding and future research directions for the control of texture and quality improvement are discussed.

Evolution of pore systems in low-maturity oil shales during thermal upgrading--Quantified by dynamic SEM and machine learning

In-situ upgrading by heating is feasible for low-maturity shale oil,where the pore space dynamically *** characterize this response for a heated substrate concurrently imaged by *** systematically follow the evolution of pore quantity,size(length,width and cross-sectional area),orientation,shape(aspect ratio,roundness and solidity)and their anisotropy—interpreted by machine *** indicate that heating generates new pores in both organic matter and inorganic ***,the newly formed pores are smaller than the original pores and thus reduce average lengths and widths of the bedding-parallel pore ***,the average pore lengths and widths are increased in the bedding-perpendicular ***,heating increases the cross-sectional area of pores in low-maturity oil shales,where this growth tendency fluctuates at300℃.In addition,the orientation and shape of the newly-formed heating-induced pores follow the habit of the original pores and follow the initial probability distributions of pore orientation and ***,limited anisotropy is detected in pore direction and shape,indicating similar modes of evolution both bedding-parallel and *** propose a straightforward but robust model to describe evolution of pore system in low-maturity oil shales during heating.

Elemene, derived from Curcuma wenyujin, one of the "8 famous genuine medicinal materials of Zhejiang province," exhibits remarkable antitumor activity. It has gained wide recognition in clinical practice for effectiveness on tumors. Dr. XIE Tian introduced the innovative concept of "molecular compatibility theory" by combining Chinese medicine principles, specifically the "monarch, minister, assistant, and envoy" theory, with modern biomedical technology. This groundbreaking approach, along with a systematic analysis of Chinese medicine and modern biomedical knowledge, led to the development of elemene nanoliposome formulations. These novel formulations offer numerous advantages, including low toxicity, well-defined composition, synergistic effects on multiple targets, and excellent biocompatibility. Following the principles of the "molecular compatibility theory", further exploration of cancer treatment strategies and methods based on elemene was undertaken. This comprehensive review consolidates the current understanding of elemene's potential antitumor mechanisms, recent clinical investigations, advancements in drug delivery systems, and structural modifications. The ultimate goal of this review is to establish a solid theoretical foundation for researchers, empowering them to develop more effective antitumor drugs based on the principles of "molecular compatibility theory".

Hydrolysis reaction of L-a-dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine (L-DPPC) monolayer with phospholipase D (PLD) has been investigated by Brewster angle microscopy (BAM) combined with the film balance. It has been found that the L-DPPC domains were changed into the 搇otus?structure by PLD. It suggests that the hydrolysis reaction is incomplete and the products together with the nonreacted materials undergo a molecular rearrangement at the interface.

An inulin-type fructan CP-A from Codonopsis pilosula attenuates experimental colitis in mice by promoting autophagy-mediated inactivation of NLRP3 inflammasome

Inulin-type fructan CP-A,a predominant polysaccharide in Codonopsis pilosula,demonstrates regulatory effects on immune activity and *** efficacy of CP-A in treating ulcerative colitis(UC)is,however,not *** study employed an in vitro lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced colonic epithelial cell model(NCM460)and an in vivo dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)-induced colitis mouse model to explore CP-A’s protective effects against experimental colitis and its underlying *** monitored the clinical symptoms in mice using various parameters:body weight,disease activity index(DAI),colon length,spleen weight,and histopathological ***,molecular markers were assessed through enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(EliSA),quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR),immunofluorescence(IF),immunohistochemistry(IHC),and Western blotting *** showed that CP-A significantly reduced reactive oxygen species(ROS),tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α),and interleukins(IL-6,IL-1β,IL-18)in LPS-induced cells while increasing IL-4 and IL-10 levels and enhancing the expression of Claudin-1,ZO-1,and occludin proteins in NCM460 ***,in vivo findings revealed that CPA administration markedly improved DAI,reduced colon shortening,and decreased the production of myeloperoxidase(MPO),malondialdehyde(MDA),ROS,IL-1β,IL-18,and NOD-like receptor protein 3(NLRP3)inflammasome-associated genes/proteins in UC ***-A treatment also elevated glutathione(GSH)and superoxide dismutase(SOD)levels,stimulated autophagy(LC3B,P62,Beclin-1,and ATG5),and reinforced Claudin-1 and ZO-1 expression,thereby aiding in intestinal epithelial barrier repair in colitis ***,the inhibition of autophagy via chloroquine(CQ)diminished CP-A’s protective impact against colitis in *** findings elucidate that CP-A’s therapeutic effect on experimental colitis possibly involves mitigating intestinal inflammation through autophagymediated N

Background:The 2017 American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association(ACC/AHA)blood pressure(BP)guideline lowered the threshold defining hypertension to 130/80 ***,how stage 1 hypertension defined using this guideline is associated with cardiovascular events in Chinese adults remains *** study assessed the association between stage 1 hypertension defined by the 2017 ACC/AHA guideline and clinical outcomes in the Chinese ***:Participants with stage 1 hypertension(n=69,509)or normal BP(n=34,142)were followed in this study from 2006/2007 to *** 1 hypertension was defined as a systolic blood pressure of 130-139 mmHg or a diastolic blood pressure of 80-89 *** were taking antihypertensive medication or had a history of myocardial infarction(MI),stroke,or cancer at *** primary outcome was a composite of MI,stroke,and all-cause *** secondary outcomes were individual components of the primary *** proportional hazards models were used for the ***:During a median follow-up of 11.09 years,we observed 10,479 events(MI,n=995;stroke,n=3408;all-cause mortality,n=7094).After multivariable adjustment,the hazard ratios for stage 1 hypertension *** BP were 1.20(95%confidence interval[CI],1.13-1.25)for primary outcome,1.24(95%CI,1.05-1.46)for MI,1.45(95%CI,1.33-1.59)for stroke,and 1.11(95%CI,1.04-1.17)for all-cause *** hazard ratios for participants with stage 1 hypertension who were prescribed antihypertensive medications compared with those without antihypertensive treatment during the follow-up was 0.90(95%CI,0.85-0.96).Conclusions:Using the new definition,Chinese adults with untreated stage 1 hypertension are at higher risk for MI,stroke,and all-cause *** finding may help to validate the new BP classification system in China.

High-lattice-adapted surface modifying Na_(4)MnV(PO_(4))_(3) for better sodium storage

Sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)are required to possess long cycle life when used for large-scale energy *** polyanionic Na_(4)MnV(PO_(4))_(3)(NMVP)reveals good cyclic stability due to its unique three-dimensional(3D)frame structure,but it still faces the challenge of interfacial degradation in practical *** this work,NASICON-type Na_(1.3)Al_(0.7)Ti_(1.3)(PO_(4))_(3)(NATP)was deposited on the surface of NMVP to promote interface stability by surface modification and gradient *** a result,the optimized NMVP@2%NATP released a capacity retention of 44.8%after 1000 cycles at 5 C,much higher than that of the initial NMVP(28.9%).The enhanced electrochemical performance was mainly attributed to NATP coating acting as a fast ion transport carrier and physical barrier,significantly facilitating the Na^(+)diffusion and isolating side reaction at the electrode/electrolyte *** the other hand,Ti_(4)^(+)and Al^(3+)cations from the NATP were partially doped inside the NMVP surface to boost the transport of Na^(+),and the perfect lattice matching of NVMP and NATP improved the interface and structural stability accompanying long *** work demonstrated the effectiveness of surface modification with high lattice match material and provided new perspectives for high energy density solid-state SIBs.
