The aim of the present study was to assess the fasciolicidal and nematicidal efficacy of a new combination of clorsulon/levamisole, which was formulated for intramuscular administration, in dairy cattle. For the study, sixteen Holstein-Freisian dairy cows were selected for inclusion in the trial based on finding Fasciola hepatica eggs or gastrointestinal nematodes (GIN) in the feces. Ten of these cows were naturally infected with F. hepatica, and 6 were naturally infected with GIN. On Day 0 (zero), all animals were treated with a combination of clorsulon (2.5 mg/kg/IM and levamisole (2.5 mg/kg/IM) administered at the dose recommended by the manufacturer (1 ml/20kg/bw). Subsequently, their feces were analyzed on days 0, 7, 14 and 21 post treatments by the Flukefinder sedimentation method and McMaster technique to determine the percentages of egg reduction in the animals, with reference to the egg load count on day 0. The results obtained in the current work indicated an efficacy of 100% that was determined by the percentage reduction of eggs of F. hepatica and/or GIN. This new fasciolicide/nematicide formulation exerted a remarkable effect and can be considered a new alternative to control F. hepatica and gastrointestinal worms in dairy cattle.

In this work, the crystal structure of titanium dioxide was studied, and the effect of the different synthesis routes on the microstructure and morphology of the nanostructures was analyzed. Samples characterization was carried out by X-ray diffraction by powders (XRD) to determine the different crystalline phases contented in the samples and using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the morphology and topology of all samples were studied. XRD results were analyzed through Eva provided by Bruker to determine the average crystallite size. The results portrayed here showed that all the synthesis process produced anatase nanostructures with an average crystallite size smaller than 27 nm. Synthesized powders presented similar morphologies in all cases and they were homogeneous in their chemical composition.

In this work, the synthesis and photoluminescence response of HfO2 doped with Eu3+ (HfO2:Eu3+) are reported. The synthesis was carried out by the hydrothermal route of HfCl4 and EuCl3?.6H2O with NH4OH dissolved in deionized water. To perform the hydrolysis, the precursors were subjected to hydrothermal treatment at 120°C, under autogenously pressure at reaction times of 24, 40, 52 and 72 hours. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by mean of X- ray diffraction (XRD), high resolution transmission electron microscope (HRTEM), and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). Samples excited with 395 nm radiation show photoluminescence emission lines corresponding to the electronic transitions 5D0 → 7FJ (J = 0 → 4), characteristics of the Eu3+ ion. The photoluminescence emission intensity increases with the increasing of the reaction time, reaching a maximum at 72 hours. The excitation band peaked at 395 nm, makes this material an excellent candidate for applications in solid state white lamps.

The scavenger receptor class B type I (SR-BI) is a high-density lipoprotein (HDL) receptor involved in reverse cholesterol transport. Some studies reported the association to be stronger in the presence of diabetes. The full length gene encoding SR-BI is comprised in 13 exons that are alternatively spliced to produce two major transcripts: the full length SR-BI and the splice variant SR-BII, in which exon 12 is skipped. Considering that type 2 diabetes status is characterized by changes in the concentration of plasma lipids, modifications in lipoprotein size and composition, which may be important modulators of the SR-BI expression;the aims of the study were to examine the influence of SR-BI polymorphism (rs838895) on lipid profile and SR-BI mRNA expression in a population of diabetic patients living in juana Koslay City. Blood samples were drawn from controls (n = 40) and Type 2 diabetic patients (n = 66) and DNA and total RNA were obtained. SR-BI mRNA expression was measured by RT-PCR and SR-BI polymorphism was detected by Tetra Primer ARMSPCR. Compared to controls, diabetic patients had higher fasting serum glucose, glycated hemoglobin, triglycerides, total cholesterol, lowdensity lipoprotein cholesterol, and lower highdensity lipoprotein cholesterol. SR-BI mRNA expression was lower in T2DM when compared to controls, suggesting that the hyperglycemia presents in T2DM patients down-regulates SR-BI mRNA expression. Interestingly, we found that decreased SR-BI expression resulted in markedly increased plasma LDL concentrations in T2DM subjects, and the overexpression of SRBII isoform is responsible for the markedly increased plasma LDL-c concentrations. The polymorphism (rs838895) did not modify the mRNA level of SR-BI in leucocytes from control and diabetic patients. This study provides novel evidence suggesting that hyperglycemia may affect reverse cholesterol transport by controlling SRBI expression in diabetic patients. Competition for natural resources will affect our ability to produce food. As population grows so does food demand, which leads to enormous pressure on the supply system. Despite the threat that climate change represents, is possible to produce more food as is evidenced, for example, the worldwide increases in the average yield per year of corn, rice wheat, and soybean. However, stresses such as temperature may have a negative impact on productivity. World grain yields decrease for each degree of increase in minimum global temperature. In addition, temperature increase induces other events such as the incidence of pests and diseases and damage to germplasm. This work focuses on the perspective of food production in the world, addressed from five fundamental aspects: 2) Temperature in crop yield. 3) Stress factors cause financial losses. 4) Water use in Agriculture. 5) The urge to increase plant productivity against climate change, and finally 6) Plant diversity and conservation.

The intensive production of vegetables such as tomatoes depends on various strategies to achieve high *** of this manuscript is to provide scientific and technological strategies for the intensive production of tomato or other vegetables in mega-production factories. However, with the advancement of knowledge, new improvements in the strategies will be incorporated. We have carried out research related to growth and yield variables in S. Lycopersicum. From this research we have worked on the intensive production of this noble vegetable at an industrial level. The results obtained are improvements in the production system. The improvements include the selection of the appropriate variety, germination and development of seedlings in a certified nursery. Trans-plantation in soil or hydroponics. The conditions of nutrient applications from the irrigation head system. The ventilation system and monitoring of climatic factors both day and night (temperature and relative humidity). Monitoring of macro- and micronutrients in the plant system, including Ca, K, Fe, and Zn. Soil fertility analyzes should include: primary and secondary macronutrients (ppm), organic matter (OM), EC, pH, bulk density (BD), and cation exchange capacity (CEC). The nutritional diagnosis to confirm ranges of sufficiency. As a tool in plant nutrition programs, foliar application can include biostimulants and growth regulators. The foregoing can be considered strategies for the integral management of the tomato crop.

The aim of this work was to obtain the physicochemical properties by SEM, XRD, FTIR analyses and the surface characteristics from carbonate outcrops cores such as pore diameter, surface area, porosity and permeability. The methods used to characterize them were Scanning Electron Microscopy, SEM;X Ray Diffraction, DRX;Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, FTIR. The porosity and permeability of natural vuggy fractured porous medium from core samples was determined obtained in the laboratory with conventional procedures. The cores have smooth and rough surfaces with porous with several sizes. Some crystals appear in preferential zones mainly composed by calcium, carbon and oxygen. Apparently into free spaces were found the organic materials, organic residues of crude oil. The cores have smooth and rough surfaces with porous with several sizes. The main inorganic compound in cores is calcite, (CaCO3). The porosity was for porous core 26% and for solid core 8.5%. The values obtained show that the cores have permeability where the fluid migrates through the particles at 2.23 × 10-4 cm/s.
