Light Detection and Ranging(LiDAR) systems can be used to estimate both vertical and horizontal forest *** components,the leaves of trees and the understory can be described with high precision,using geo-registered *** on this concept,the Effective Plant Area Indices(PAIe) for areas of Korean Pine(Pinus koraiensis),Japanese Larch(Larix leptolepis) and Oak(Quercus spp.) were estimated by calculating the ratio of intercepted and incident LIDAR laser rays for the canopies of the three forest ***,the canopy gap fraction(GLiDAR) was generated by extracting the LiDAR data reflected from the canopy surface,or inner canopy area,using k-means *** LiDAR-derived PAIe was then estimated by using GLIDAR with the Beer-Lambert law.A comparison of the LiDAR-derived and field-derived PAIe revealed the coefficients of determination for Korean Pine,Japanese Larch and Oak to be 0.82,0.64 and 0.59,*** differences between field-based and LIDAR-based PAIe for the different forest types were attributed to the amount of leaves and branches in the forest *** absence of leaves,in the case of both Larch and Oak,meant that the LiDAR pulses were only reflected from *** probability that the LiDAR pulses are reflected from bare branches is low as compared to the reflection from branches with a high leaf *** is because the size of the branch is smaller than the resolution across and along the 1 meter LIDAR laser ***,a better predictive accuracy would be expected for the model if the study would be repeated in late spring when the shoots and leaves of the deciduous trees begin to appear.

This study was carried out to clarify role of ceca in nitrogen nutrition of the chicken. Exp. 1： The effect of cecal ligation on nitrogen utilization and excretion was investigated in chickens fed 5% to 14% protein diet. Irrespective of dietary protein level and different protein sources, the ligation of cecal decreased uric acid excretion and tended to increase nitrogen utilization and balance with the exception of urea-added 10% protein diet. Exp. 2： The effect of cecal ligation on nitrogen utilization and excretion was investigated in conventional and colostomized chickens fed a 5% protein diet or 5% protein diet plus urea. Total nitrogen excretion and uric acid excretion increased by colostomy were depressed by cecal ligation in chickens. Therefore, nitrogen utilization and balance decreased by colostomy were increased by cecal ligation. Urinary nitrogen excretion was significantly decreased by cecal ligation in colostomized chickens, but the cecal ligation did not change fecal nitrogen excretion in chickens fed either diet. Exp. 3： This experiment was carried out to examine the effects of removal of cecal contents on nitrogen utilization, balance and nitrogen excretion in cecally ligated chickens. Total nitrogen excretion was significantly decreased by washing out the cecal contents with saline or antibiotics. The cecal ligation and the removal of cecal contents significantly decreased uric acid excretion in the excreta. There was a highly inverse relationship between microbial counts in the ceca and an excretory amount of uric acid. Exp. 4： In order to examine effects of cecal ligation on microbial activity, microbes were counted and products of microbial fermentation were determined. The ligation of caeca decreased microbial counts, concentrations of acetic, propionic and butyric acids and ammonia concentration of cecal contents. The effects of 3 chairside polishing kits and mechanical brushing on the surface roughness of 3 different acrylic denture base resins were compared. Acrylic denture base resins （auto-polymerizing, heat-polymerizing, injected heat-polymerizing resins） were examined after a tungsten carbide bur, and after chairside polishing using 3 polishing kits and pumice. The specimens were subjected to mechanical brushing using a wear tester to simulate 30 000 strokes of brushing. The surface roughness of the acrylic denture base resin specimens was measured using a contact pro-filometer. After the test, the random polished acrylic resins were evaluated by scanning electron mi-croscopy （SEM） and atomic force microscopy （AFM）. Acrylic denture base resins polished using the 3 types of polishing kits had a smoother surface than those finished with the tungsten carbide bur （p〈0.05）. The surface of the resin polished by a TC cutter exceeded the Ra of 0.2 μm （p〈0.05）. The auto-polymerizing resin showed a significantly higher surface roughness than the heat-polymerizing resin and injected heat-polymerizing resin （p〉0.05）. In the case of polishing step wise, there was almost no change in surface roughness after brushing （p〉0.05）.

Aim： To characterize the feasibility of the surgical replacement of the penile tunica albuginea （TA） and to evaluate the value of a porcine bladder acellular matrix （BAM） graft. Methods： Acellular matrices were constructed from pigs＇ bladders by cell lysis, and then examined by scanning electron microscopy （SEM）. Expression levels of the mRNA of the vascular endothelial growth factor （VEGF） receptor, fibroblast growth factor （FGF）-1 receptor, neuregulin, and brain-derived neurotrophic factor （BDNF） in the acellular matrix and submucosa of the pigs＇ bladders were determined through the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction （PCR）. A 5 mm× 5 mm square was excised from the penile TA of nine rabbits. The defective TA was then covered in porcine BAM. Equal numbers of animals were sacrificed and histochemically examined at 2, 4 and 6 months after implantation. Results： SEM of the BAM showed collagen fibers with many pores. VEGF receptor, FGF-1 receptor and neuregulin mRNA were expressed in the porcine BAM; BDNF mRNA was not detected. Two months after implantation, the graft sites exhibited excellent healing without contracture, and the fusion between the graft and the neighboring normal TA appeared to be well established. There were no significant histological differences between the implanted tunica and the normal control tunica at 6 months after implantation. Conclusion： The porcine BAM graft resulted in a structure which was sufficiently like that of the normal TA. This implantation might be considered applicable to the reconstruction of the TA in conditions such as trauma or Peyronie＇s disease.

Nucleic acid amplification and quantification via polymerase chain reaction(PCR)is one of the most sensitive and powerful tools for clinical laboratories,precision medicine,personalized medicine,agricultural science,forensic science and environmental *** multiplex PCR,characterized by low power consumption,compact size and simple operation,is ideal for timely diagnosis at the point-of-care(POC).Although several fast/ultrafast PCR methods have been proposed,the use of a simple and robust PCR thermal cycler remains challenging for POC ***,we present an ultrafast photonic PCR method using plasmonic photothermal light-to-heat conversion via photon–electron–phonon *** demonstrate an efficient photonic heat converter using a thin gold(Au)film due to its plasmon-assisted high optical absorption(approximately 65%at 450 nm,the peak wavelength of heat source light-emitting diodes(LEDs)).The plasmon-excited Au film is capable of rapidly heating the surrounding solution to over 150℃ within 3 *** this method,ultrafast thermal cycling(30 cycles;heating and cooling rate of 12.7960.93℃ s^(-1) and 6.660.29℃ s^(-1),respectively)from 55℃(temperature of annealing)to 95℃(temperature of denaturation)is accomplished within 5 *** photonic PCR thermal cycles,we demonstrate here successful nucleic acid(λ-DNA)*** simple,robust and low cost approach to ultrafast PCR using an efficient photonic-based heating procedure could be generally integrated into a variety of devices or procedures,including on-chip thermal lysis and heating for isothermal amplifications.

Cystic lymphangiomas of the adrenal gland are rare. A 79-year-old female presented in the emergency room with epigastric discomfort, and an immovable mass was palpated in her abdomen upon physical examination. Imaging studies revealed a large cystic lesion in the pancreatic tail. The radiologic impression ruled out the possibility of a mucinous cystic neoplasm, or a pseudocyst in the pancreas. The operative findings demonstrated that the cystic mass originated in the left adrenal gland. A laparoscopic excision of the cystic mass was performed, and immunohistochemistry confirmed that this mass was a lymphangioma of the adrenal gland. Several prior reports have suggested that lymphangioma can mimic renal or splenic cysts. however, lymphangioma cases mimicking pancreatic cysts are very rare.

BACKGROUND Colonic perfusion status can be assessed easily by indocyanine green(ICG)angiography to predict ischemia related anastomotic complications during laparoscopic colorectal ***,various parameter-based perfusion analysis have been studied for quantitative evaluation,but the analysis results differ depending on the use of quantitative parameters due to differences in vascular anatomical ***,it can help improve the accuracy and consistency by artificial intelligence(AI)based real-time analysis microperfusion(AIRAM).AIM To evaluate the feasibility of AIRAM to predict the risk of anastomotic complication in the patient with laparoscopic colorectal cancer *** The ICG curve was extracted from the region of interest(ROI)set in the ICG fluorescence video of the laparoscopic colorectal ***-processing was performed to reduce AI performance degradation caused by external environment such as background,light source reflection,and camera shaking using MATLAB 2019 on an I7-8700k Intel central processing unit(CPU)*** learning and evaluation were performed by dividing into a training patient group(n=50)and a test patient group(n=15).Training ICG curve data sets were classified and machine learned into 25 ICG curve patterns using a self-organizing map(SOM)*** predictive reliability of anastomotic complications in a trained SOM network is verified using test *** AI-based risk and the conventional quantitative parameters including T1/2max,time ratio(TR),and rising slope(RS)were consistent when colonic perfusion was favorable as steep increasing ICG curve *** the ICG graph pattern showed stepped rise,the accuracy of conventional quantitative parameters decreased,but the AI-based classification maintained accuracy *** receiver operating characteristic curves for conventional parameters and AI-based classification were comparable for predicting the anastomotic complication *** pe

AIM:To evaluate the outcome of laparoscopic cholecystectomy(LC)in patients aged 80 years and older. METhoDS:A total of 353 patients aged 65 to 79 years(group 1)and 35 patients aged 80 years and older(group 2)underwent *** were further classified into two other groups:those with uncomplicated gallbladder disease(group A)or those with complicated gallbladder disease(group B). RESULTS:There were no significant differences between the age groups(groups 1 and 2)with respect to clinical characteristics such as age,gender,comorbid disease,or disease *** operative time,conversion rate,and the incidence of major postoperative complications were similar in groups 1 and ***,the percentage of high-risk patients was significantly higher in group 2 than in group 1 (20.0%vs 5.7%,Phospital stay(7.9±6.5 d vs 5.0±3.7 d, Pho underwent LC seem to be influenced by the severity of gallbladder disease,and not by chronologic *** octogenarians,LC should be performed at an earlier,uncomplicated stage of the disease whenever possible to improve perioperative outcomes.
