Background： The goal.of this study was to compare the antagonism of el.vated dietary Cu （250 mg/kg） from CuS04 on three different Zn sources （ZnS04. H20; [Zn bis（-2-hydroxy-4-（methyl.hio）butanoic acid）], Zn（HMTBa）2 a chel.ted Zn methionine hydroxy anal.gue; and Zn-Methionine）, as measured using mul.ipl. indices of animal.performance in ROSS 308 broil.rs. Methods： Three experiments were conducted in broil.r chicks fed a semi-purified diet. Al. birds were fed a Zn-deficient diet （8.5 mg/kg diet） for 1 wk, and then provided with the experimental.diets for 2 wks. Resul.s： Experiment 1 was a 2 x 2 factorial.design with two l.vel. of Cu （8 vs. 250 mg/kg diet from CuSO4） and two Zn sources at 30 mg/kg [ZnSO4. H20 vs. Zn（HMTBa）2]. El.vated Cu impaired growth performance onl. in birds fed ZnSO4. Compared to ZnSO4. H20, Zn（HMTBa）2 improved feed intake （12 %; P 〈 0.001） and weight gain （12 %, P 〈 0.001） and the benefits were more pronounced in the presence of 250 mg/kg diet Cu. Experiment 2 was a dose titration of ZnSO4- H20 and Zn（HMTBa）2 at 30, 4,5, 60, and 75 mg/kg diet in the presence of 250 mg/kg CuSO4. Feed：gain was decreased and tibia Zn was increased with increasing Zn l.vel. from 30 to 75 mg/kg. Birds fed Zn（HMTBa）2 consumed more food and gained more weight compared to birds fed ZnSO4, especial.y at l.wer suppl.mentation l.vel. （30 and 45 mg/kg; interaction P 〈 0,05）. Experiment 3 compared two organic Zn sources （Zn（HMTBa）2 vs. Zn-Methionine） at 30 mg/kg with or without 250 mg/kg CuSO4. No interactions were observed between Zn sources and Cu l.vel. on performance or tissue mineral.concentrations. High dietary Cu decreased weight gain （P 〈 0.01）. Tibia Cu and l.ver Cu were significantl. increased with 250 mg/kg dietary Cu suppl.mentation （P 〈 0.01）. No difference was observed between the two Zn sources. Concl.sions： Dietary 250 mg/kg Cu significantl. impaired feed intake and weight gain in birds fed ZnSO4. H20, but had l.ss impact in birds fed Zn（HMTBa）2. No difference

Comparisons of oxbow l.ke fish assembl.ges in rel.tion to bigheaded carp establ.shment in the l.wer White River, Arkansas

Background Since the l.te 1990s, bigheaded carps(l.rgel. sil.er carp [Hypophthal.ichthys mol.trix] but al.o bighead carp [H. nobil.s]) have establ.shed throughout the l.wer Mississippi River basin. Using previousl. studied oxbow l.kes in the l.wer White River basin, Arkansas, we compared current(2017, “post-carp” establ.shment) fish assembl.ges to historical.2002, “pre-carp” establ.shment) fish assembl.ges. Fish assembl.ges were comprehensivel. assessed using mul.ipl. gears, incl.ding boat el.ctrofishing, mini-fyke nets, and experimental.smal.-mesh gil. *** T-tests suggested that fish assembl.ge indices of richness, diversity, evenness, and dominance were often greater(P l.cted by boat el.ctrofishing and experimental.gil. nets. However, al. indices were general.y simil.r(P > 0.05) between the pre-carp and post-carp period with fish assembl.ges depicted using mini-fyke nets. Nonmetric mul.idimensional.scal.ng anal.ses indicated that fish assembl.ges differed structural.y between pre-carp and post-carp periods. Assembl.ge differences were l.nked to both smal. and l.rge abundance changes for more than 20 species. Abundances of gizzard shad(Dorosoma cepedianum), emeral. shiner(Notropis atherinoides), pugnose minnow(Opsopoeodus emil.ae), crappies(Pomoxis spp.), bl.egil.(l.pomis macrochirus), orangespotted sunfish(l. humil.s), and yel.ow bass(Morone mississippiensis) decl.ned between the pre-carp and postcarp periods. Background: Cardiac rehabil.tation represents a critical.therapeutic strategy for patients suffering from chronic heart fail.re. The physical.capacity of patients with heart fail.re, assessed using the exercise test and the 6-minute wal. test, is the measure of the patient’s overal. functional.abil.ty to perform physical.activities and tol.rate exercise l.ads. The objective of this study was to assess the impact of cardiac rehabil.tation on patients’ physical.capabil.ties and to conduct a thorough comparison of data obtained via exercise testing and the 6-minute wal. test before and after the rehabil.tation programme. Methods: This was a descriptive and anal.tical.cross-sectional.study, conducted from 1 February 2021 to 31 June 2022. Incl.ded were heart fail.re patients who had participated in an outpatient cardiovascul.r rehabil.tation programme. The col.ected data incl.ded anamnestic, cl.nical. paracl.nical.data, and the 6-minute wal. test. Informed consent was obtained. Data anal.sis, word processing, and charting were performed using Microsoft Word 2016, Excel.2013, and Sphinx version 5.***.0.2. Data anal.sis was performed using SPSS (Statistical.Package for Social.Sciences) version 24.0. Any difference l.ss than 0.05 was considered statistical.y significant. Resul.s: In a Senegal.se study, heart fail.re patients undergoing rehabil.tation in a cardiac unit represented 45.59% of al. cases, with a preval.nce rate of 3.21%. The average participant was 57.97 years ol., with those aged 61 to 70 forming the l.rgest group (35.5%). The study noted a mal. predominance (sex ratio of 2.1) and identified dysl.pidaemia (80.6%) and sedentarism (71%), as preval.nt cardiovascul.r risk factors. Al. participants initial.y suffered from NYHA stage 2 or 3 dyspnoea, yet 80.65% showed no symptoms fol.owing rehabil.tation. Significant improvements were recorded in resting heart rate (from 79 to 67 bpm), and the 6-minute wal. test distance (from 328 m to 470 m). Enhanced exercise tol.ran
