elenoside increases intestinal motility

AIM： TO study the effects of elenoside, an arylnaphthalene lignan from Justicia hyssopifolia, on gastrointestinal motility in vivo and in vitro in rats. MeTHODS： Routine in vivo experimental assessments were catharsis index, water percentage of boluses, intestinal transit, and codeine antagonism. The groups included were vehicle control （propylene glycol-ethanolplant oil-tween 80）, elenoside （i.p. 25 and 50 mg/kg）, cisapride （i.p. 10 mg/kg）, and codeine phosphate （intragastric route, 50 mg/kg）. In v/tro approaches used isolated rat intestinal tissues （duodenum, jejunum, and ileum）. The effects of elenoside at concentrations of 3.2 ×10^4, 6.4 ×10^4 and 1.2 ×10^3 mol/L, and cisapride at 10^6 mol/L were investigated. ReSULTS： elenoside in vivo produced an increase in the catharsis index and water percentage of boluses and in the percentage of distance traveled by a suspension of activated charcoal. Codeine phosphate antagonized the effect of 25 mg/kg of elenoside. In vitro, elenoside in duodenum, jejunum and ileum produced an initial decrease in the contraction force followed by an increase. elenoslde resulted in decreased intestinal frequency in duodenum, jejunum, and ileum. The in vitro and in vivo effects of elenoside were similar to those produced by cisapride. CONCLUSION： elenoside is a lignan with an action similar to that of purgative and prokinetics drugs. elenoside, could be an alternative to cisapride in treatment of gastrointestinal diseases as well as a preventive therapy for the undesirable gastrointestinal effects produced by opioids used for mild to moderate pain.

The collision of a divergent ocean ridge may evolve into two end cases： in the continuity of ocean-floor subduction, or in the detachment of the subducted plate. The northern Patagonia active plate margin has the unique situation that in Cenozoic time it has been subjected to two divergent ridge collisions, each one representing one of the end members. The Neogene Antarctica-Nazca divergent ridge collision evolved as a continuous ocean-floor subduction system, promoting a magmatic hiatus at the arc axis, the obduction of part of the ridge ocean-floor in the fore-arc, and basaltic volcanism in the back-arc. In contrast, the Paleogene Farallon-Aluk divergent ridge collision evolved into a transform margin, with the detachment and sinking of the Aluk plate and the development of a large slab window. As in the previous case, this collision promoted a magmatic hiatus at the arc axis, but the tectono-magmatic scenario changed to postorogenic synextensional volcanism that spread to the former fore-arc （basalt, andesite, rhyolite） and former back-arc （bimodal ignimbrite flare-up, basalt）. Geochemistry of this slab window synextensional volcanism shows more MORB-like basalts towards the former fore-arc, and MORB-OIB-Iike basalts towards the former back-arc. Instead, an isolated undeformable crustal block in the former back-arc, with an ＂epeirogenic＂ response to the slab window and extensional regime, was covered by OIB-type basalts after uplift. Major elements show that slab window basalts reach TiO2 values up to 3 wt%, as compared with the top value of 1.5 wt% of arc magmas. Besides, the MgO with respect to （FeOt ＋ A1203） ratio helps to distinguish slab window magma changes from the former fore-arc to the former back-arc and also with respect to the ＂epeirogenic＂ block. Higher contents of HFS elements such as Nb and Ta also help to distinguish this slab window from arc magmas and also, to distinguish slab window magma changes from the former fore-arc to the former back-arc

emerging evidence suggests that dietary fats may influence testicular function. However, most of the published literature on this field has used semen quality parameters as the only proxy for testicular function. We examined the association of fat intake with circulating reproductive hormone levels and testicular volume among healthy young Spanish men. This is a cross-sectional study among 209 healthy male volunteers conducted between October 2010 and November 2011 in Murcia Region of Spain. Participants completed questionnaires on lifestyle, diet, and smoking, and each underwent a physical examination, and provided a blood sample. Linear regression was used to examine the association between each fatty acid type and reproductive hormone levels and testicular volumes. Monounsaturated fatty acids intake was inversely associated with serum blood levels of calculated free testosterone, total testosterone, and inhibin B. A positive association was observed between the intake of polyunsaturated fatty acids, particularly of omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids, and luteinizing hormone concentrations. In addition, the intake of trans fatty acids was associated with lower total testosterone and calculated free testosterone concentrations （Ptrend = 0.01 and 0.02, respectively）. The intake of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids was positively related to testicular volume while the intake of omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids and trans fatty acids was inversely related to testicular volume. These data suggest that fat intake, and particularly intake of omega 3, omega 6, and trans fatty acids, may influence testicular function.

From Network Functions to NetApps: The 5GASP Methodology

As the 5G ecosystem continues its consolidation,the testing and validation of the innovations achieved by integrators and verticals service providers is of preponderant *** this line,5GASP is a european H2020-funded project that aims at easing the idea-to-market process through the creation of an european testbed that is fully automated and self-service,in order to foster rapid development and testing of new and innovative 5G Network Applications(NetApps).The main objective of this paper is to present the 5GASP’s unified methodology to design,develop and onboard NetApps within the scope of different vertical services,letting them use specific 5G ***,we examine the whole 5GASP process in a tutorial fashion by adopting a specific use case focusing on the integration of a virtual On-Board Unit(vOBU)service that permits offloading processing from the attached vehicle and serving data-access *** demonstrated,the presented workflow permits the agile,rigorous,and safe development,testing and certification of NetApps,which will enable valuable in-network services for 5G and beyond infrastructures.

Ceramic supported cerium, manganese and cerium-manganese catalysts were prepared by direct impregnation of aq precursor, and characterized by scanning electron microscopy （SeM）, X-ray diffraction （XRD）, Brunauer-emmett-Teller rn （BeT）, temperature programmed reduction （Ha-TPR）, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS） acidity measurements and elec conductivity. The catalytic activity was evaluated for volatile organic compounds （VOC）（ethanol, methyl ethyl ketone and tol oxidation. Additionally, catalysts were tested in particulate matter （PM） combustion. The characterization results indicated that Ce was in the form of Ce4＋ and Ce3＋, and Mn existed in the form of Mn4＋ and Mn3＋ on the surface of the Mn/AC sample and in the of Mn4＋ in the Ce/Mn/AC monolith. VOC oxidation results revealed that the Ce/Mn/AC sample showed an excellent perforr compared with ceramic supported CeO2 （Ce/AC） and MnO, （Mn/AC） samples. The PM combustion was also higher on Ce/M monoliths. The enhanced catalytic activity was mainly attributed to the Ce and Mn interaction which enhanced the acidity, cond ity and the reducibility of the oxides.

Qigong in the treatment of children with autism spectrum disorder:A systematic review

Background: Autism spectrum disorder is a condition that affects all races, ethnic and socioeconomic groups. With a high incidenee ratio of one in every 68, it has become one of the most discussed psychiatric disorders. For this reason, the need for investigating novel treatments has been emerging. Qigong, a traditional Chinese mind-body technique, has already proven to be able to reduce symptoms of several physical and psychological illnesses. Objective: The purpose of this systematic review is to examine and categorize the current scientific evidence regarding the efficacy of Qigong on children suffering from autism spectrum disorders. Search strategy: A systematic literature search of the electronic scientific databases PubMed, Clinical ***, BioMed Central, PubMed Central and Google Scholar was performed to identify studies of Qigong in the treatment of children with autism spectrum disorder. Inclusion criteria: This review included randomized controlled trials, replication studies, retrospective studies and observational follow-up studies of Qigong on children with autism spectrum disorder. Case reports and case series were excluded. Data extraction and analysis: Two researchers independently evaluated the methodological quality of all included studies. Any discrepancies were solved by discussion until consensus was achieved. Results: Our literature search identified 157 publications, and 10 additional publications from hand search of references. After duplicate removal, 103 records remained. After the title/abstract screening, 19 publications were obtained for detailed evaluation. After detailed evaluation, 10 studies were included. Seven studies were conducted with small children with 2-6 years old employing Qigong massage, and three studies were con ducted with older children aged 7-17 years old applying both Qigong massage (one study) and Neigong (two studies). Dynamics of lattice disorder in perovskite materials, polarization nanoclusters and ferroelectric domain wall structures

The nexus between classic ferroelectricity and the structure of perovskite materials hinges on the concept of lattice *** the ordered perovskites display short-range displacements of the central cations around their equilibrium points,the lattice disorder dynamically unfolds to generate a myriad of distorted rhombohedral lattices characterized by the hopping of the central cations across*** is discovered that the lattice disorder correlates with the emergence of minimum configuration energypathways for the central cations,resulting in spatially modulated ultrafast polarization nanocluster arrangements that are stabilized by the electric charge defects in the *** high-resolution phonon dispersion analyses encompassing molecular dynamics(MD)and density functional theory(DFT)simulations,we provide unequivocal evidence linking the hopping of central cations to the development of diffuse soft phonon modes observed throughout the phase transitions of the *** massive MD simulations,we unveil the impact of lattice disorder on the structures of domain walls at finite-temperature vis-à-vis collective activation and deactivation of***,our simulations demonstrate the development of hierarchical morphotropic phase boundary(MPB)nanostructures under the combined influence of externally applied pressure and stress relaxation,characterized by sudden emergence of zig-zagged monoclinic arrangements that involve dualshifts of the central *** findings have implications for tailoring MPBs in thin-film structures and for the light-induced mobilization of *** are finally uncovered to the exploration of lattice disorder through gradual shear strain application.

Corneal transplantation outcomes after the extrusion of an intrastromal keratoprosthesis:a pilot study

This short report includes 5 eyes of 5 patients(mean age 63.2±12 years)who underwent a tectonic keratoplasty[deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty(DALK)or penetrating keratoplasty(PK)]in order to rehabilitate the eye after the extrusion of the non-perforating keratoprosthesis(Kpro)KeraKlear(KeraMed,USA).The non-perforating Kpro was extruded after a mean period of 21.4±21.8 months due to *** two cases,the keratoplasty was performed the same day of the non-perforating Kpro removal due to a severe melting,while in the other three cases it was performed one to 3 months *** eyes received a DALK,but in 3 eyes a macroscopic Descemet membrane perforation forced the conversion into a *** mean follow-up period after the keratoplasty was 16.8±6.6 *** cases of rejection were *** the 5 eyes achieved“anatomical success”(transparent graft,with no signs of infection or inflammation).Two eyes showed limited“functional success”because the achievement of the best visual potential was prevented by the development of glaucomatous optic atrophy during the follow-up *** conclusion,this short report presents an unexpected success of a keratoplasty performed with a tectonic purpose after the extrusion of the non-perforating Kpro because the corneal graft remained transparent,without neovascularization or scarring during the follow-up *** initial evidence shows some encouraging results regarding graft survival rate and the achievement of a useful visual rehabilitation with keratoplasty after a nonperforating Kpro failure instead of repeating the Kpro implantation.
