BACKGROUND Recent advancements in nanomedicine have highlighted the potential of exosome(Ex)-based therapies,utilizing naturally derived nanoparticles,as a novel approach to targeted cancer *** To explore the targetability and anticancer effectiveness of small interfering peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase NIMA-interacting 1 RNA(siPIN1)-loaded soluble a proliferation-inducing ligand(sAPRIL)-targeted Exs(designated as tEx[p])in the treatment of colon cancer *** tEx was generated by harvesting conditioned media from adipose-derived stem cells that had undergone transformation using pDisplay vectors encoding sAPRIL-binding peptide ***,tEx[p]were created by incorporating PIN1 siRNA into the tEx using the Exofect *** therapeutic efficacy of these Exs was evaluated using both in vitro and in vivo models of colon *** The tEx[p]group exhibited superior anticancer effects in comparison to other groups,including tEx,Ex[p],and Ex,demonstrated by the smallest tumor size,the slowest tumor growth rate,and the lightest weight of the excised tumors observed in the tEx[p]group(P<0.05).Moreover,analyses of the excised tumor tissues,using western blot analysis and immunohistochemical staining,revealed that tEx[p]treatment resulted in the highest increase in Ecadherin expression and the most significant reduction in the mesenchymal markers Vimentin and Snail(P<0.05),suggesting a more effective inhibition of epithelial-mesenchymal transition tEx[p],likely due to the enhanced delivery of *** The use of bioengineered Exs targeting sAPRIL and containing siPIN1 demonstrated superior efficacy in inhibiting tumor growth and epithelial-mesenchymal transition,highlighting their potential as a therapeutic strategy for colon cancer.

A case of idiopathic colonic varices: A rare cause of hematochezia misconceived as tumor

Colonic varices are a very rare cause of lower gastrointestinal bleeding. Fewer than 100 cases of colonic varices, and 30 cases of idiopathic colonic varices （ICV） have been reported in the English literature. Among these 30 cases of ICV, 19 cases were diagnosed by angiography, and 7 operated cases were diagnosed later as ileocecal vein deficit, hemangioma, and idiopathic in 1, 1, 5 cases, respectively. We report the case of a 24-year-old man who suffered from multiple episodes of hematochezia of varying degree at the age of 11 years. He had severe anemia with hemoglobin of 21 g/L. On colonoscopy, tortuously dilated submucosal vein and friable ulceration covered with dark necrotic tissues especially at the rectosigmoid region were seen from the rectum up to the distal descending colon. It initially appeared to be carcinoma with varices. Mesenteric angiographic study suggested a colonic hemangioma. Low anterior resection was done due to medically intractable and recurrent hematochezia. Other bowel and mesenteric vascular structures appeared normal. Microscopic examination revealed normal colonic mucosa with dilated veins throughout the submucosa and serosa without representing new vessel growth. Taken all of these findings together, the patient was diagnosed as ICV. His postoperative course was uneventful.

Human Body Tracking and Pose Estimation Using Modified Camshift Algorithm

In this paper, we propose multiple CAMShift Algorithm based on Kalman filter and weighted search windows that extracts skin color area and tracks several human body parts for real-time human tracking system. The CAMShift Algorithm we propose searches the skin color region by detecting the skin color area from background model. Kalman filter stabilizes the floated search area of CAMShift Algorithm. Each occlusion areas are avoided by using weighted window of non-search areas and main-search area. And shadows are eliminated from background model and intensity of shadow. The proposed modified Camshaft algorithm can estimate human pose in real-time and achieves 96.82% accuracy even in the case of occlusions.

Analysis of recent climate change over the Arctic using ERA-Interim reanalysis data

This study investigates recent climate change over the Arctic and its link to the mid-latitudes using the ERA-Interim global atmospheric reanalysis data from the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecast （ECMWF）. Since 1979, sub- stantial surface warming, associated with the increase in anthropogenic greenhouse gases, has occurred over the Arctic. The great- est warming in winter has taken place offshore in the Kara-Barents Sea, and is associated with the increase in turbulent heat fluxes from the marginal ice zone. In contrast to the marked warming over the Arctic Ocean in winter, substantial cooling appears over Siberia and eastern Asia, linked to the reduction of Arctic sea ice during the freezing season （September-March）. However, in summer, very little change is observed in surface air temperature over the Arctic because increased radiative heat melts the sea ice and the amount of turbulent heat gain from the ocean is relatively small. The heat stored in the upper ocean mixed layer in summer with the opening of the Arctic Ocean is released back to the atmosphere as turbulent heat fluxes during the autumn and through to the following spring. This warming of the Arctic and the reduced sea ice amplifies surface cooling over Siberia and eastern Asia in winter.

X-ray Spectra Calculations for Inspection of Semiconductors with Different Target/Filter Combinations Using MCNPX

X-rays are commonly used for inspecting semiconductors. However, excessive radiation dose could damage semiconductors. Therefore, unnecessary exposure needs to be reduced. The ray quality, which is influenced by the tube voltage and filter, determines the exposure. We designed an X-ray tube for inspecting semiconductors with different target/filter combinations and calculated X-ray spectra using the MCNPX （Monte Carlo n-particle extended） code. The target material was W, and the filters were made of Mo, W, and Zr. The W/W combination showed the lowest flux. The MCNPX code can reduce the development time and cost of the target/filter combination for inspecting semiconductors.

Flexural Behavior of FRP-Reinforced Concrete Composite Member

Concrete Filled FRP （Reinforced Polymeric Plastic） Tubes （CFFT） and Reinforced Concrete Filled FRP Tubes （RCFFT） are known to have the capability to enhance structural performance in terms of structural stability, ductility, as well as chemical resistance when compared with conventional concrete members. In this study, the authors evaluate the structural performance of the CFFT and the RCFFT through flexural tests for the purpose of applying the members as flexural ones. Moreover, the compressive behavior of the CFFT and the RCFFT members was investigated to examine their confinement effects. Based on the experimental and analytical results of the compressive behavior of the members, equations for estimating the ultimate compressive strengths of the CFFT and the RCFFT were proposed. In addition, the degree of improvement on the flexural performance of the RCFFT member strengthened by the FRP was analyzed from the flexural tests.

Induction of clusterin Expression by Neuronal Cell Death in Zebrafish

Clusterin, a protein associated with multiple functions, is expressed in a wide variety of mammalian tissues. Although clusterin is known to be involved in neurodegenerative diseases, ageing, and tumorigenesis, a detailed analysis of the consequences of gain- or loss-of- function approaches has yet to be performed to understand the underlying mechanisms of clusterin functions. Since clusterin levels change in neurological diseases, it is likely that clusterin contributes to cell death and degeneration in general. Zebrafish was investigated as a model system to study human diseases. During development, zebrafish clusterin was expressed in the notochord and nervous system. Embryonic overexpression of clusterin by mRNA microinjection did not affect axis formation, whereas its knock-down by anti-sense morpholino treatment resulted in neuronal cell death. To analyze the function of clusterin in neurodegeneration, a transgenic zebrafish was investigated, in which nitroreductase expression is regulated under the control of a neuron-specifc huC promoter which is active between the stages of early neuronal precursors and mature neurons. Nitroreductase turns metronidazole into a cytotoxic agent that induces cell death within 12 h. After metronidazole treatment, transgenic zebrafish showed neuron-specific cell death. Interestingly, we also observed a dramatic induction of clusterin expression in the brain and spinal cord in these fish, suggesting a direct or indirect role of clusterin in neuronal cell death and thus, more generally, in neurodegeneration.

＜正＞Soil born disease including root knot nematodes（Meloidogyne spp.） caused severe economic loss in Plastic *** experiment was carried out to control these disease using High Temperature *** temperature steam（HTS） was pumped up into the under-ground（depth 50cm） through pored plastic pipe（diameter 10cm） in plastic *** temperature was reached over 80t after one hour treatment with *** density of microorganism in the soil including fungi,actinomycetes and bacteria was significantly decreased by HTS treatment compared to non-treated *** HTS treatment,the average population of root knot nematodes was significantly reduced from 1 570 heads to 0（Head/300g soil）.The withering rates of oriental melon by root knot nematodes was 5.2%in HTS and 10.4%in chemical fumigation（dazomet） treatment but 60.2%was withered in control in middle stage of growth at 150 days after *** effect of HTS treatment was as effective as dazomet fumigation ***,we concluded that HTS can be used as an environment-friendly control method,alternate to chemical fumigation for the control of Soil born disease in plastic house.
