While emerging data suggest nucleotide oligomerization domain recep.or 1(NOD1),a cytop.asmic p.ttern recognition recep.or,may p.ay an imp.rtant and comp.ementary role in the immune resp.nse to bacterial infection,its role in cancer metastasis is entirely ***,we sought to determine the effects of NOD1 on ***1 exp.ession in p.ired human p.imary colon cancer,human and murine colon cancer cells were determined using immunohistochemistry and immunoblotting(WB).Clinical significance of NOD1 was assessed using TCGA survival data.A series of in vitro and in vivo functional assays,including adhesion,migration,and metastasis,was conducted to assess the effect of NOD1.C12-iE-DAp.a highly selective NOD1 ligand derived from gram-negative bacteria,was used to activate ***130,a sp.cific NOD1 inhibitor,was used to block C12-iE-DAp.*** knockdown(KD)of NOD1 in human colon cancer cells(HT29)was constructed with shRNA lentiviral transduction and the functional assays were thus ***,the p.edominant signaling p.thway of NOD1-activation was identified using WB and functional assays in the p.esence of sp.cific kinase *** data demonstrate that NOD1 is highly exp.essed in human colorectal cancer(CRC)and human and murine CRC cell ***,we demonstrate that this increased NOD1 exp.ession negatively imp.cts survival in p.tients with ***,we identify NOD1 activation by C12-iE-DAp.augments CRC cell adhesion,migration and *** effects are p.edominantly mediated via the p.8 mitogen activated p.otein kinase(MAp.)*** is the first study imp.icating NOD1 in cancer metastasis,and thus identifying this recep.or as a p.tative therap.utic target.

Myeloid cells,such as neutrop.ils,are p.oduced in the bone marrow in high quantities and are imp.rtant in the p.thogenesis of vascular diseases such as p.lmonary hyp.rtension(p.).Although neutrop.il recruitment into sites of inflammation has been well studied,the mechanisms of neutrop.il egress from the bone marrow are not well *** comp.tational flow cytometry,we observed increased neutrop.ils in the lungs of p.tients and mice with ***,we found elevated levels of IL-6 in the blood and lungs of p.tients and mice with *** observed that transgenic mice overexp.essing Il-6 in the lungs disp.ayed elevated neutrop.il egress from the bone marrow and exaggerated neutrop.il recruitment to the lungs,resulting in exacerbated p.lmonary vascular remodeling,and dysfunctional ***,we found that IL-6-induced neutrop.il egress from the bone marrow was dep.ndent on interferon regulatory factor 4(IRF-4)-mediated CX3CR1 exp.ession in ***,Cx3cr1 genetic deficiency in hematop.ietic cells in Il-6-transgenic mice significantly reduced neutrop.il egress from bone marrow and decreased neutrop.il counts in the lungs,thus ameliorating p.lmonary remodeling and *** summary,these findings define a novel mechanism of IL-6-induced neutrop.il egress from the bone marrow and reveal a new therap.utic target to curtail neutrop.il-mediated inflammation in p.lmonary vascular disease.

Chemical ecology of the sp.uce bark beetle lp. typ.grap.us （L.） was reviewed. The outbreak of *** in central Europ. triggered extensive research on chemical ecology, Males initiate host location and p.oduce semiochemicals which attract both males and females, A successful mass attack must first overcome the resistance of the host tree. p.oneer I. typ.grap.us evolved to use the resin flow of host trees as kairomones in host location, and synthesized semiochemicals initially to detoxify the resin. If small bark beetle p.p.lations infest healthy trees, mass attack is p.evented by host resistance, Nine monoterp.ne alcohols were found in male hind-guts, including cis-verbenol （cV） and 2-methyl-3-buten-2-ol （MB） which are regarded as p.imary aggregation p.eromones, and a low p.op.rtion of lp.dienol （ld） which increases attractiveness of cV and MB, Verbenone （Vn） and Ip.enol （le） are anti-aggregation p.eromones, that p.ay imp.rtant roles in adjusting attack density and insect density under the bark. Non-host volatiles are rep.llent to L typ.grap.us, so that beetles do not waste energy boring into non-host trees. The relationship.between host resistance, p.eromone comp.unds and behavior, non-host volatiles, bioassays and mass trap.ing are reviewed, Results of field bioassays stressed that trap. baited with sp.cific p.eromones could be used as a reasonable p.otection measure.

Aims Changes in light and temp.rature are among the most common and most p.ofound environmental p.rturbations. The indep.ndent effects of light and temp.rature on p.otosynthesis and resp.ration are well studied in single leaves, but are less well studied in whole p.ants. The short and long term influence of light and temp.rature on carbon use efficiency is also p.orly understood, and is commonly modeled to remain constant over a wide range of conditions. We sought to determine the p.imary effects of changing light at two growth temp.ratures on p.otosynthesis, resp.ration, and their balance, as defined by carbon use efficiency. Methods We sep.rated resp.ration into growth and maintenance comp.nents using whole-canop. gas-exchange in an elevated CO2 environment in a controlled environment, and sup.lemented that information with tissue analysis. Imp.rtant findings Decreases in light level decreased carbon use efficiency through a reduction in the maintenance coefficient, increased the growth coefficient, and reduced p.rtitioning of N in p.otein. Growth temp.rature did not significantly affect either maintenance or growth resp.ration coefficients, suggesting that long-term temp.rature resp.nses can differ greatly from short-term observations.

Soil fungi have many imp.rtant ecological functions,however,their life strategies and interactions in manure fertilized soils are not well *** aim of this study was to investigate the effects of biochar amendment on the fungal life strategies and sp.cies interactions in ryegrass(Lolium p.renne L.)rhizosp.ere soil by high-throughp.t *** soil treatments were evaluated:soil and p.g manure mixture without p.anting ryegrass and biochar ap.lication(bulk soil),mixture with ryegrass p.anting(rhizosp.ere soil(RS)),and addition of 2%(w/w)biochar with ryegrass(RS+biochar).Our results indicated that temp.ral turnover,defined as the slop. of linear regression between community similarity and time,was significantly higher in the biochar amendment(slop.=-0.2689,p.0.0001)relative to the rhizosp.ere *** biochar addition,the p.rcentage of sp.cies emp.oying slow acclimation ecological strategies decreased(from 27% to 17%)and the p.rcentage of sensitive sp.cies increased(from 40% to 50%)in comp.rison to the rhizosp.ere *** analysis indicated that fungal communities in the biochar amendment enhanced p.sitive correlations comp.red to the rhizosp.ere soil and bulk *** equation model indicated that soil p. was the most imp.rtant factor in altering fungal life strategies and interactions in manure fertilized soils.

p.otothermal nanotheranostics, esp.cially in the near infrared II（NIR-II） region, exhibits a great p.tential in p.ecision and p.rsonalized medicine, owing to high tissue p.netration of NIR-II ***-II-p.otothermal nanop.atforms with high biocomp.tibility as well as high p.otothermal effect are urgently needed but rarely rep.rted so far. Te nanomaterials p.ssess high absorbance to NIR-II light but also exhibit high cytotoxicity, imp.ding their biomedical ap.lications. In this work, the controllable incorp.ration of biocomp.tible Se into the lattice of Te nanostructures is p.op.sed to intrinsically tune their inherent cytotoxicity and enhance their biocomp.tibility, develop.ng TeSexnano-alloys as a new kind of theranostic nanop.atform. We have uncovered that the cytotoxicity of Te nanomaterials p.imarily derives from irreversible oxidation stress and intracellular imbalance of organization and energy, and can be eliminated by incorp.rating a moderate p.op.rtion of Se（x = 0.43）. We have also discovered that the as-p.ep.red TeSexnano-alloys have extraordinarily high NIR-II-p.otothermal conversion efficiency（77.2%）,64Cu coordination and comp.ted tomograp.y contrast cap.bilities, enabling high-efficacy multimodal p.otothermal/p.otoacoustic/p.sitron emission tomograp.y/comp.ted tomograp.y imaging-guided NIR-II-p.otothermal therap. of cancer. The p.op.sed nano-alloying strategy p.ovides a new route to imp.ove the biocomp.tibility of biomedical nanop.atforms and endow them with versatile theranostic functions.

Dimethyl sulfide(DMS) is the most abundant form of volatile sulfur in Earth’s oceans, and is mainly p.oduced by the enzymatic clevage of dimethylsulfoniop.op.onate(DMSp.. DMS and DMSp.p.ay imp.rtant roles in driving the global sulfur cycle and may affect climate. DMSp.is p.op.sed to serve as an osmolyte, a grazing deterrent, a signaling molecule, an antioxidant, a cryop.otectant and/or as a sink for excess sulfur. It was long believed that only marine eukaryotes such as p.ytop.ankton p.oduce DMSp. However, we recently discovered that marine heterotrop.ic bacteria can also p.oduce DMSp. making them a p.tentially imp.rtant source of DMSp. At p.esent, one p.okaryotic and two eukaryotic DMSp.synthesis enzymes have been *** heterotrop.ic bacteria are likely the major degraders of DMSp. using two known p.thways: demethylation and *** p.ytop.ankton and some fungi can also cleave DMSp. So far seven different p.okaryotic and one eukaryotic DMSp.lyases have been identified. This review describes the global distribution p.ttern of DMSp.and DMS, the known genes for biosynthesis and cleavage of DMSp. and the p.ysiological and ecological functions of these imp.rtant organosulfur molecules, which will imp.ove understanding of the mechanisms of DMSp.and DMS p.oduction and their roles in the environment.
