Breast cancer is a common malignancy in women with disappointing prognosis especially the triple-negative ***,nanomedicine becomes a promising therapeutic strategy for breast cancer,such as platinum nanoparticles(PtNPs).Despite the promising anticancer effects of PtNPs,the safety of PtNPs remains to be fully ***,a series of cell and animal experiments demonstrate that PtNPs facilitate breast cancer metastasis by damaging the vascular endothelial *** disrupt endothelial cell proliferation,migration and tube-like structure formation,destruct endothelial adhesions junctions and induce endothelial barrier leakiness in vitro most likely by stimulating intracellular reactive oxygen species(ROS)generation and altering the expression and conformation of endothelial junctional proteins,thus promoting intravasation and extravasation of the implanted 4T1 breast cancer cells and leading to cancer metastasis in female BALB/c nude mice in *** addition,smaller PtNPs(5 nm)are more potent than larger PtNPs(70 nm)in exerting the above *** study provides the first evidence that PtNPs can promote breast cancer metastasis by damaging endothelial *** unexpected detrimental effects of PtNPs should be considered in future nanomedicine designs for the treatment of breast cancer.

Objective To analyze the prevalence of asthma and asthma related symptoms among children aged 0-14 years in three Chinese cities and to obtain a crude estimation of the trend of childhood asthma prevalence in China. Methods A cross-sectional, population-based survey of prevalence of asthrna was conducted in children aged from 0 to 14 years in 3 major cities of China （Beijing, Chongqing, and Guangzhou） with different geographic locations. All the subjects were randomly selected by a multi-stage sampling method. Three to five schools and kindergartens in 2 urban districts in each city were randomly selected for the survey, and a validated questionnaire that included the core questions of the International Study of Asthma and Allergies in Childhood, Phase III questionnaire and several additional questions were used. All questionnaires were completed by parents or guardians of the selected children. Children whose parents responded affirmatively to the question＂ Has your child ever been diagnosed as asthma by a doctor＂ were recognized as victims of asthma. Results The prevalence of asthma in Beijing, Chongqing, and Guangzhou was 3.15%, 7.45%, and 2.09%, respectively. These values were significantly higher than those obtained 10 years ago in the national epidemiological survey in 2000 which used the same method of investigation and the same diagnotic criteria （x^2=3.938, P=-0.047; 22=73.506, P≤0.001; x^2=11.956, P=0.001, in each city）. Of the asthmatic children 57.21%, 69.91%, and 60.00% had their first attack before the age of 3 in Beijing, Chongqing, and Guangzhou, respectively. Wheezing was the primary clinical manifestation for all asthmatic children, followed by persistent cough and repeated respiratory infections. Both the prevalence of asthma and asthma-related symptoms were statistically higher in males than in females. Conclusion The prevalence of childhood asthma is statistically higher than that 10 years ago in the three Chinese cities.

Acute-on-chronic liver failure （ACLF） is a severe life-threatening complication. liver transplantation is the only available therapeutic option; however, several limitations have restricted its use in patients. The use of corticosteroids as an optional therapy for ACLF has received a great deal of interest. The rationale behind its use is the possible role of the immune system in initiating and perpetuating hepatic damage. In order to assess the relationship between myeloid dendritic cells （mDCs） and the efficacy of methylprednisolone （MP） treatment for hepatitis B virus （H BV）-associated ACLF patients, we recruited 30 HBV-associated ACLF patients who had received MP treatment at lO-day intervals; 26 patients received conservative medical （CM） management as a control. The functionality of DC subsets was lower in these ACLF patients compared with healthy subjects. In addition, compared with survivors, dead/transplanted patients had lower functional mDC in both groups. Furthermore, a decreased numbers of mDC at baseline was associated with high mortality of ACLF patients. Importantly, MP treatment resulted in a significant decrease in 28-day mortality, and all MP patients exhibited an initial rapid decrease in circulating mDC numbers within 10 days of MP treatment. Subsequently, MP survivors displayed a continuous increase in mDC numbers accompanied by a decrease in total bilirubin levels by more than 30%. However, MP dead/ transplanted patients lacked these sequential responses compared with survivors. This evidence suggests strongly that the higher mDC numbers at baseline and the recovery of mDC number at the end of treatment may represent a prognostic marker for favorable response to corticosteroid treatment in ACLF patients.

Objective:The objective of the study was to observe and analyze the characteristics of negative emotions and quality of life(QoL)in patients with nonsmall cell lung cancer(NSCLC)from 1 to 3 months after surgery,and summarize their population characteristics after *** and Methods:The consolidation rehabilitation period was defined as 1 to 3 months after *** main observation indicators were the general Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale,the European Organization for the Research and Treatment of Cancer Core QoL Questionnaire(EORTC QLQ-C30),and EORTC QLQ-Lung *** secondary observation indicators were peripheral blood cytokines and immune function *** methods such as one-way analysis of variance and logistic regression were used to analyze the characteristics of this part of the ***:Among patients who underwent lung surgery,the overall incidence of anxiety during consolidation recovery was 13.66%,and that of depression was 10.38%.The scores of fatigue,pain,dyspnea,insomnia,and loss of appetite were significantly higher than those of other symptoms(P=0.000).The presence of anxiety was associated with the site of surgery(P<0.05)and the presence of depression was associated with emotional functioning and dyspnea(P<0.05).Conclusions:The occurrence of negative emotions in the postoperative NSCLC population is related to gender,and the degree of emotions is negatively correlated with QoL and positively correlated with the degree of *** main relevant syndromes are the pulmonary and meridian categories.

Although compatibility is highly advocated in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), inappropriate combination of some herbs may reduce the therapeutic action and even produce toxic effects. Kansui and licorice, one of TCM “Eighteen Incompatible Medicaments”, are the most representative cases of improper herbal combination, which may still be applied simultaneously under given conditions. However, the potential mechanism of their compatibility and incompatibility is unclear. In the present study, two different ratios of kansui and licorice, representing their compatibility and incompatibility respectively, were designed to elucidate their interaction by comparative plasma/tissue metabolomics and a heatmap with relative fold change. As a result, glycocholic acid, prostaglandin F2a, dihydroceramide and sphinganine were screened out as the principal alternative biomarkers of compatibility group;sphinganine, dihydroceramide, arachidonic acid, leukotriene B4, acetoacetic acid and linoleic acid were those of incompatibility group. Based on the values of biomarkers in each tissue, the liver was identified as the compatible target organ, while the heart, liver, and kidney were the incompatible target organs. Furthermore, important pathways for compatibility and incompatibility were also constructed. These results help us to better understand and utilize the two herbs, and the study was the first to reveal some innate characters of herbs related to TCM “Eighteen Incompatible Medicaments”.

Objective This study aimed to investigate the potential relationship between urinary metals copper(Cu),arsenic(As),strontium(Sr),barium(Ba),iron(Fe),lead(Pb)and manganese(Mn)and grip *** We used linear regression models,quantile g-computation and Bayesian kernel machine regression(BKMR)to assess the relationship between metals and grip *** In the multimetal linear regression,Cu(β=−2.119),As(β=−1.318),Sr(β=−2.480),Ba(β=0.781),Fe(β=1.130)and Mn(β=−0.404)were significantly correlated with grip strength(P<0.05).The results of the quantile g-computation showed that the risk of occurrence of grip strength reduction was−1.007(95%confidence interval:−1.362,−0.652;P<0.001)when each quartile of the mixture of the seven metals was *** kernel function regression model analysis showed that mixtures of the seven metals had a negative overall effect on grip strength,with Cu,As and Sr being negatively associated with grip strength *** the total population,potential interactions were observed between As and Mn and between Cu and Mn(P_(interactions) of 0.003 and 0.018,respectively).Conclusion In summary,this study suggests that combined exposure to metal mixtures is negatively associated with grip ***,Sr and As were negatively correlated with grip strength levels,and there were potential interactions between As and Mn and between Cu and Mn.
