Association of cardiac disease with the risk of post-lung transplantation mortality in Chinese recipients aged over 65 years

The current organ allocation rules prioritize elderly and urgent patients on the lung transplantation(LT)waiting list.A steady increase in the threshold at which age is taken into consideration for LT has been *** retrospective cohort study recruited 166 lung transplant recipients aged≥65 years between January 2016 and October 2020 in the largest LT center in *** the cohort,subgroups of patients aged 65–70 years(111 recipients,group 65–70)and≥70 years(55 recipients,group≥70)were *** D restrictive lung disease was the main indication of a lung transplant in recipients over 65 years.A significantly higher percentage of coronary artery stenosis was observed in the group≥70(30.9%vs.14.4%in group 65–70,P=0.014).ECMO bridging to LT was performed in 5.4%(group 65–70)and 7.3%(group≥70)of ***–Meier estimates showed that recipients with cardiac abnormalities had a significantly increased risk of *** adjusting for potential confounders,cardiac abnormality was shown to be independently associated with the increased risk of post-LT mortality(HR 6.37,P=0.0060).Our result showed that LT can be performed in candidates with an advanced age and can provide life-extending benefits.

The recently emerged double-cable conjugated polymers have come into focus due to their significantly improved power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) in single-component organic solar cells (SCOSCs). In this work, the effect of chlorination in double-cable conjugated polymers with linear benzodithiophene backbone and pendant perylene bisimide on the photovoltaic performance in SCOSCs has been studied. After introducing chlorine atoms into conjugated side chains, the highest occupied molecular orbital level of the conjugated polymers is down-shifted, thus resulting in a higher open-circuit voltage. As a result, the chlorinated double-cable conjugated polymer exhibits improved photovoltaic performance from 3.46% to 3.57%.

The gravity recovery and climate experiment(GRACE)has emerged as a crucial source of land water storage information in hydrological analysis and *** factors contribute to regional terrestrial water storage(TWS),resulting in a complex *** the Loess Plateau region,the continuous alteration of natural conditions and profound impact of human activities have posed a serious threat to the natural ecosystem,leading to an escalating trend of TWS *** the specific analysis of how natural conditions and human activities affect TWS represents a pressing *** study employed the residual analysis method to discern the contribution rates of natural conditions and human activities,elucidated the spatial and temporal changes associated with each factor,and ascertained their individual *** findings indicated that TWS on the Loess Plateau exhibited a downward trend of-4.89 mm·a^(-1)from 2003 to *** combined effects of climate change and human activities accounted for alterations in water resource reserves across most areas of the Loess Plateau,with human activities predominantly driving these *** emerged as the primary natural factor influencing TWS variations,and NDVI demonstrated a positive feedback effect on TWS at approximately 30%.Substantial spatial disparities in TWS existed within the Loess Plateau,with human activities identified as the primary cause for the decreasing *** restoration plays a positive role in saving water resources in the Loess Plateau to some extent,and vegetation growth exceeding the regional load will lead to water shortage.

In particle-filled polymer composites with selective distributions of fillers in one phase,much attention has been focused on the“volume exclusion effect”in reducing the percolation threshold of filler,while the role of dispersed polymer phase acting as bridges of fillers in the particle network has largely been ***,we studied industrially important ternary composites,polypropylene(PP)/ethylene-octene copolymer(a polyolefin elastomer,POE)/talc systems,and adopted rheology to reveal the bridging behavior of POE droplets in the network of talc *** is found that talc fillers concentrate in the PP phase using the“blend first”protocol,while more talc particles are located at the interface of PP and POE phases using the“filler first”*** the POE viscosity and talc size can affect the migration of talc from the POE phase to the PP phase in the“filler first”*** linear rheology behavior indicates that besides the“volume exclusion effect”,the talc-POE hybrid network can further contribute to the reinforcement ***,the POE droplet bridging structure can facilitate the rebuilding of the hybrid network after large amplitude oscillatory shear,in contrast to the un-recoverable structures in the PP/talc binary *** correlation between rheology and selective distribution of fillers in ternary composites may provide practical guidance for processing and designing advanced polymer composites with controlled selective location of fillers.

Lightweight hybrid structures of Al MMCs and titanium alloy dissimilar materials have great prospect in the defence industry application. So, it is necessary to join Al MMCs with Ti metal to achieve this structural design. In this work, in-situ Ti B_(2)/7050 composite and TA2 were firstly attempted to join by TIG welding-brazing technique. The result was that the intact welding-brazing butt joint was successfully fabricated. The joint presents dual characteristics, being a brazing on TA2 side and a welding on Ti B_(2)/7050 side. At brazing joint side, ER4043 filler metal effectively wets on TA2 under TIG heating condition,and a continuous interfacial reaction layer with 1 e3 mm is formed at welded metal/TA2 interface. The whole interfacial reaction layers are composed of Ti(Al Si)3 intermetallic compounds(IMCs), but their morphologies at the different regions present obvious distinguishes. The microhardness of the reaction layers is as much as 141 e190 HV. At welding joints side, the fusion zone appears the equixaed crystal structure, and the grain sizes are much smaller than those of welded metal, which is attributed to the effect of Ti B2 particulates from the melted Ti B_(2)/7050 on acceleration formation and inhibiting growth for the new crystal nucleus. The tensile test results show that average tensile strength of the optimal welding-brazing joint is able to achieve 138 MPa. The failure of the tensile joint occurs by quasi-cleavage pattern, and the cracks initiate from the IMCs layer at the groove surface of TA2 and propagate into the welded metal.

BACKGROUND The relationship between autoimmune gastritis(AIG)and gastric polyps(GPs)is not well *** To explore the clinical characteristics and risk factors of AIG with GPs in *** This double center retrospective study included 530 patients diagnosed with AIG from July 2019 to July *** collected clinical,biochemical,serological,and demographic data were of each *** regression analyses,both multivariate and univariate,were conducted to pinpoint independent risk factors for GPs in patients with AIG *** operating characteristic curves were utilized to establish the optimal cutoff values,sensitivity,and specificity of these risk factors for predicting GPs in patients with *** Patients with GPs had a higher median age than those without GPs[61(52.25-69)years vs 58(47-66)years,P=0.006].The gastrin-17 levels were significantly elevated in patients with GPs compared with those without GPs[91.9(34.2-138.9)pmol/mL vs 60.9(12.6-98.4)pmol/mL,Pbody(PCA)antibody was higher in these patients than in those without GPs(88.6%vs 73.6%,P<0.001).Multivariate and univariate analyses revealed that PCA positivity[odds ratio(OR)=2.003,P=0.017],pepsinogen II(OR=1.053,P=0.015),and enterochromaffin like cells hyperplasia(OR=3.116,P<0.001)were significant risk factors for GPs,while pepsinogen I was identified as a protective *** PCA positivity and enterochromaffin like cells hyperplasia are significant risk factor for the development of GPs in patients with *** gastrin-17 levels may also play a role in this *** findings suggest potential targets for further research and therapeutic intervention in managing GPs in patients with AIG.

AIM To compare therapeutic responses of a vascular-disrupting-agent, combretastatin-A4-phosphate(CA4 P), among hepatocellular carcinomas(HCCs) and implanted rhabdomyosarcoma(R1) in the same rats by magneticresonance-imaging(MRI), microangiography and *** Thirty-six HCCs were created by diethylnitrosamine gavage in 14 rats that were also intrahepatically implanted with one R1 per rat as monitored by T2-/T1-weighted images(T2wI/T1wI) on a 3.0 T clinical MRIscanner. Vascular response and tumoral necrosis were detected by dynamic contrast-enhanced(DCE-) and CE-MRI before, 1 h after and 12 h after CA4P iv at 10 mg/kg(treatment group n = 7) or phosphate-buffered saline at 1.0 mL/kg(control group n = 7). Tumor blood supply was calculated by a semiquantitative DCE parameter of area under the time signal intensity curve(AUC30). In vivo MRI findings were verified by postmortem *** On CE-T1wIs, unlike the negative response in all tumors of control animals, in treatment group CA4P caused rapid extensive vascular shutdown in all R1-tumors, but mildly or spottily in HCCs at 1 h. Consequently, tumor necrosis occurred massively in R1-tumors but patchily in HCCs at 12 h. AUC30 revealed vascular closure(66%) in R1-tumors at 1 h(P < 0.05), followed by further perfusion decrease at 12 h(P < 0.01), while less significant vascular clogging occurred in HCCs. Histomorphologically, CA4P induced more extensive necrosis in R1-tumors(92.6%) than in HCCs(50.2%)(P < 0.01); tumor vascularity heterogeneously scored +^+++ in HCCs but homogeneously scored ++ in *** This study suggests superior performance of CA4P in metastatic over primary liver cancers, which could guide future clinical applications of vascular-disruptingagents.
