The seed germination and seedling growth of pakchoi （Brassica campestris ssp. chinensis var. communis Tsen et Lee cv. Hanxiao） were not significantly inhibited until the concentration of NaCl was increased to 150 mmol/L. Treatment of pakchoi seeds with exogenous 5-aminolevulinic acid （ALA）, at concentrations ranging from 0.01 to 10.00 mg/L, promoted seed germination when seeds were stressed by salinity, whereas levulinic acid （LA）, an inhibitor of ALA dehydrase, significantly inhibited seed germination and seedling growth, suggesting that metabolism of ALA into porphyrin compounds was necessary for seed germination and seedling growth. Determination of respiratory rate during seed germination showed that ALA increased seed respiration under both normal conditions and salt stress. Furthermore, salt stress decreased levels of endogenous ALA, as well as heme, in etiolated seedlings. More salt-tolerant cultivars of pakchoi contained higher relative levels of endogenous ALA and heme under conditions of salt stress. These results indicate that salt stress may inhibit the biosynthesis of endogenous ALA and then heme, which is necessary for seed germination, and treatment of seeds with exogenous ALA prior to germination may be associated with the biosynthesis of heme.

The ball milling process and the CuWO-WOprecursors were investigated, and a new highly concentrated wet ball-milled process(HWM) was designed. W-20 wt% Cu composite powders with excellent sintering property were synthesized by highly concentrated wet ballmilled process and co-reduction. The powders were characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM), X-ray diffraction(XRD), field electron transmission electron microscopy(FESEM) and laser-diffraction diameter *** results indicate that particle size of W03-CuO powder mixtures decreases to 390 nm rapidly with the milling time increasing to 5 h. The CuWOprecursors promote the microstructural homogeneity of W and Cu. W-Cu composite powders have a highly dispersed and well sintering property. The particle size of W-Cu powders milled by HWM for 5 h is about 680 nm. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM) result suggests that W phase and Cu phase are mixed at nanometer scale. The above W-Cu composite powders reach the relative density of about 99.3%.

To explore the preparation of porous nickel- titanium alloy with excellent properties, larger size and complex shape, the premixed powder of Ni and Ti with atomic ratio of 1：1 was shaped by gel-casting. The effects of solids loading and the content of dispersant on flow ability of nickel-titanium slurry and the mechanical properties of nickel-titanium sintered body were studied. The drying models under different solids loading were also discussed. The results show that the viscosity of slurries significantly increases with an increase in solids loading. After a proper process of drying, the green body with complex shape is obtained. The sintered body with porosity rate reaching up to 49.5 % and compression strength reaching to 364.74 MPa could meet the basic demands of implant materials.

An aging-induced decrease in Schwann cell viability can affect regeneration following peripheral nerve injury in mammals. It is therefore necessary to investigate possible age-related changes in gene expression that may affect the biological function of peripheral nerves. Ten 1-week-old and ten 12-month-old healthy male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into young（1 week old） and adult（12 months old） groups according to their ages. mRNA expression in the sciatic nerve was compared between young and adult rats using next-generation sequencing（NGS） and bioinformatics（n = 4/group）. The 18 groups of differentially expressed mRNA（DEmRNAs） were also tested by quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction（n = 6/group）. Results revealed that（1） compared with young rats, adult rats had 3608 groups of DEmRNAs. Of these, 2684 were groups of upregulated genes, and 924 were groups of downregulated genes. Their functions mainly involved cell viability, proliferation, differentiation, regeneration, and myelination.（2） The gene with the most obvious increase of all DEmRNAs in adult rats was Thrsp（log2 FC = 9.01, P 〈 0.05）, and the gene with the most obvious reduction was Col2 a1（log2 FC = -8.89, P 〈 0.05）.（3） Gene Ontology analysis showed that DEmRNAs were mainly concentrated in oligosaccharide binding, nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain containing one signaling pathway, and peptide-transporting ATPase activity.（4） Analysis using the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes showed that, with increased age, DEmRNAs were mainly enriched in steroid biosynthesis, Staphylococcus aureus infection, and graft-versus-host disease.（5） Spearman＇s correlation coefficient method for evaluating NGS accuracy showed that the NGS results and quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction results were positively correlated（rs = 0.74, P 〈 0.05）. AIM： To investigate the effect and mechanism of electro-acupuncture lEA） at ST25 and ST37 on irritable bowel syndrome （IBS） of rats. METHODS： A total of 21 male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into normal group, model group and EA group. A rat model of IBS was established by constraining the limbs and distending the colorectum of rats. Rats in EA group received bilateral EA at ST25 and ST37 with a sparse and intense waveform at a frequency of 2/50 Hz for 15 min, once a day for 7 d as a course. Rats in normal and model groups were stimulated by distending colorectum （CR）. An abdominal withdrawal reflex （AWR） scoring system was used to evaluate improvements in visceral hypersensitivity. Toluidine blue-improved method, immunohistochemistry and radioimmunoassay were used to observe mucosal mast cells （MC）, changes of substance P （SP） and substance P receptor （SPR） in colon and change of corticotropin-releasing hormone （CRH） in hypothalamus. RESULTS： The threshold of visceral sense was significantly lower in model group than in normal group,and significantly higher in EA group than in model group. The number of mucosal MC was greater in model group than in normal group and significantly smaller in EA group than in model group. The CRH level in hypothalamus of rats was significantly higher in model group than in normal group, which was remarkably decreased after electro-acupuncture treatment. The SP and SPR expression in colon of rats in model group was decreased after electro-acupuncture treatment. CONCLUSION： EA at ST25 and ST37 can decrease the number of mucosal MC and down-regulate the expression of CRH in hypothalamus, and the expression of SP and SPR in colon of rats with IBS.

Sensory function is the most significant criterion when evaluating the prognosis of replanted fingers. Current clinical research has focused on surgical techniques and indications for finger replantation; however, few studies have focused on recovery of finger sensory function af- ter replantation. This study retrospectively assessed data of eight patients who had undergone nine Zone I replantations of the fingertips in the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University of China from July 2014 to January 2016. Variations in the extent of damage, with the residual vessels or nerves in some fingers being too short or even missing, prevented tension-free suture repair in some patients. Thus, re- pair of four of the nine fingertips included arteriovenous anastomosis, the remaining five undergoing arterial anastomosis during replanta- tion of the amputated fingers. Three patients underwent nerve repair, whereas the remaining six cases did not. Fingertip replantations were successful in all eight patients. Compared with the patients without vascular anastomosis, no obvious atrophy was visible in the fingertips of patients who did undergo vascular anastomosis during replantation and their sensory function did recover. Fingertip replantation pro- vides good sensory function and cosmetic outcomes when good artery and vein anastomoses have been created, even when digital nerves have not been repaired.

AIM： TO investigate the significance of S phase kinase- associated protein 2 （Skp2） expression in human gastric carcinoma and the relation between expressions of Skp2, p27 and PTEN. METHODS： Immunohistochemical analysis was performed on 138 gastric carcinoma specimens, their paired adjacent mucosa specimens, 102 paired lymphatic metastatic carcinoma tissue specimens, 30 dysplasia specimens, 30 intestinal metaplasia specimens, 10 chronic superficial gastritis specimens and 5 normal gastric mucosa specimens for Skp2 expression and on 138 gastric carcinoma specimens for p27 and PTEN expression. RESULTS： Skp2 labeling frequency was significantly higher in intestinal rnetaplasia （12.68±0.86） and adjacent rnucosa （19.324±1.22） than in normal gastric rnucosa （0.53±0.13） and chronic superficial gastritis （0.47±0.19）（P = 0.000）, in dysplasia （16.74±0.82）than in intestinal metaplasia （P = 0.000）; in gastric primary carcinoma （31.34±2.17） than in dysplasia and adjacent rnucosa （P = 0.000）, in metastasis gastric carcinoma in lymph nodes （39.76±2.00） than in primary gastric carcinoma （P = 0.037）, respectively. Skp2 labeling frequency was positively associated with differentiation degree （rho = 0.315, P = 0.000）, vessel invasion （rho = 0.303, P = 0.000） and lymph node metastasis （rho = 0.254, P = 0.000） of gastric cancer. Expression of Skp2 was negatively associated with p27 （rho = -0.451, P = 0.000） and PTEN （rho = -0.480, P = 0.000） expression in gastric carcinoma, p27 expression was positively associated with PTEN expression in gastric carcinoma （rho = 0.642, P = 0.000）.CONCLUSION： Skp2 overexpression may be involvedin carcinogenesis and progression of human gastric carcinoma in vivo, possibly via p27 proteolysis. PTEN may regulate the expression of p27 by negatively regulating Skp2 expression.

ZrW2O8 was prepared by adjusting Zr：W mole ratio and HCl concentration in hydrothermal reaction *** obtained sample was crystallized in α-ZrW2O8 phase （cubic,P213）,with band gap energy of 4.0 *** properties of photocatalytic water splitting were examined under UV light *** average rate of H2 evolution over 0.3wt% Pt/ZrW2O8 in the presence of CH3 OH as electron donor （ED） was 23.4 μmol/h,while the average rate of O2 evolution over ZrW2O8 in the presence of AgNO3 as electron scavenger （ES） was 9.8 μmol/***,H2 was evolved over 0.3wt% Pt/ZrW2O8 from pure water splitting at a rate of 5.2 μmol/*** study indicated that the band structure of ZrW2O8 was suitable for reducing H ＋ to H2 and oxidizing H2O to *** band structure and photocatalytic water splitting properties of ZrW2O8,different from either ZrO2 （5.0 eV） or WO3 （2.7 eV）,were attributed to the hybridization of W5d and Zr4d in conduction band （CB） as well as the change in crystal structure.
