Abstract The development of physically crosslinked hydrogels with excellent mechanical and sensing properties is of importance for expanding the practical applications of intelligent soft hydrogel ***,after copolymerization of hydroxyl-containing amino acid derivative N-acryloyl serine(ASer)with acrylamide(AM),we introduce Zr4+through an immersion strategy to construct metal ion-toughened non-covalent crosslinked hydrogels(with tensile strength of up to 5.73 MPa).It is found that the synergistic coordination of hydroxyl and carboxyl groups with Zr^(4+)substantially increases the crosslinking density of the hydrogels,thereby imparting markedly superior mechanical properties compared to hydroxyl-free Zr^(4+)-crosslinked hydrogels,such as N-acryloyl alanine(AAla)copolymerized with AM hydrogels(with tensile strength of 2.98 MPa)Through the adjustment of the composition of the copolymer and the density of coordination bonds,the mechanical properties of the hydrogels can be modulated over a wide ***,due to the introduction of metal ions and the dynamic nature of coordination bonds,the hydrogels also exhibit excellent sensing performance and good self-recovery properties,paving the way for the development of flexible electronic substrates with outstanding comprehensive performances.

Ocean waves and Stokes drift are generated by *** study investigated the characteristics of ocean waves and wave-induced Stokes drift and their effects during Typhoon Mangkhut using European Centre for MediumRange Weather Forecasts(ECMWF)ERA5 datasets and observational *** results revealed that the typhoon generated intense cyclones and huge typhoon waves with a maximum wind speed of 45 m/s,a minimum pressure of955 h Pa,and a maximum significant wave height of 12 *** Stokes drift caused by typhoon waves exceeded 0.6m/s,the Stokes depth scale exceeded 18 m,and the maximum Stokes transport reached 6 m^(2)/*** spatial distribution of 10-m wind speed,typhoon wave height,Stokes drift,Stokes depth,and Stokes transport during the typhoon was highly correlated with the typhoon *** distribution along the typhoon track showed significant zonal asymmetry,with greater intensity on the right side of the typhoon track than on the left *** findings provide important insights into the impact of typhoons on ocean waves and Stokes drift,thus improving our understanding of the interactions between typhoons and the ocean *** study also investigated the contribution of Stokes transport to the total net transport during typhoons using Ekman-Stokes Numbers as a comparative *** results indicated that the ratio of Stokes transport to the total net transport reached up to 50%within the typhoon radius,while it was approximately 30%outside the *** Stokes transport induced by typhoon waves led to divergence in the transport direction,which resulted in upwelling of the lower ocean as a compensation ***,Stokes transport played a crucial role in the vertical mixing of the ocean during *** findings suggested that Stokes transport should be paid more attention to,particularly in high latitude ocean regions,where strong winds can amplify its effects.

Evidence available on the independent and combined associations of sleep duration,bedtime,and genetic predisposition with hearing loss was *** present study included 15,827 participants from the Dongfeng–Tongji cohort *** risk was characterized by polygenic risk score(PRS)based on 37 genetic loci related to hearing *** conducted multivariate logistic regression models to assess the odds ratio(OR)for hearing loss with sleep duration and bedtime,as well as the joint association and interaction with *** showed that hearing loss was independently associated with sleeping≥9 h/night compared to the recommended 7 to9:00 *** 10:00 *** to those with bedtime>10:00 *** 11:00 p.m.,with estimated ORs of 1.25,1.27,and 1.16,respectively.

Dissolution kinetics and reaction mechanism of Al_(2)O_(3) in molten CaF_(2)-CaO-Al_(2)O_(3) slag

The dissolution behavior of Al_(2)O_(3) in molten CaF_(2)-CaO-Al_(2)O_(3) slag,a basic slag system of electroslag remelting process,was investigated by rotating cylinder method using corundum rods to simulate Al_(2)O_(3) inclusions in *** experimental results show that the dissolution rate of Al_(2)O_(3);rods in CaF_(2)-CaO-Al_(2)O_(3) slag increases with the increase in rotating speed and temperature,and the rate-controlling step is the mass transfer in the *** dissolution rate of Al_(2)O,in CaF_(2)-CaO-Al_(2)O_(3) slag increases with the increase in the ratio of CaO to Al_(2)O_(3),which is due to the increase in dissolution driving force and the decrease in slag *** apparent activation energy of the mass transfer of AlOs in slag C is calculated to be 222.86 kJ mol^(-1).During the dissolution of Al_(2)0,inclusions in the slag,it reacts with F in liquid slag at first,then reacts with CaO to form the intermediate compounds of xCaO-yAl_(2)O_(3) system,and finally dissolves in molten *** dissolution rate of Al_(2)O_(3) inclusions in CaF_(2)-CaO-Al_(2)O_(3) slag for electroslag remelting is positively correlated with the ratio of the dissolution driving force and slag viscosity,and the correlation coeficient is 2.487×10^(-11).

CuO/Co3O4 Bifunctional Catalysts for Electrocatalytic5-Hydroxymethylfurfural Oxidation Coupled Cathodic Ammonia Production

The electrochemical coupling of biomass oxidation and nitrogen conversion presents a potential strategy for high value-added chemicals and nitrogen cycling. Herein, in this work, CuO/Co3O4with heterogeneous interface is successfully constructed as a bifunctional catalyst for the electrooxidation of5-hydroxymethylfurfural to 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid and the electroreduction of nitrate to ammonia （NH3）. The open-circuit potential spontaneous experiment shows that more 5-hydroxymethylfurfural molecules are adsorbed in the Helmholtz layer of the CuO/Co3O4composite, which certifies that the CuO/Co3O4heterostructure is conducive to the kinetic adsorption of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural. In situ electrochemical impedance spectroscopy further shows that CuO/Co3O4has faster reaction kinetics and lower reaction potential in oxygen evolution reaction and 5-hydroxymethylfurfural electrocatalytic oxidation. Moreover, CuO/Co3O4also has a good reduction effect on NO3-. The ex-situ Raman spectroscopy shows that under the reduction potential, the metal oxide is reduced, and the generated Cu2O can be used as a new active site for the reaction to promote the electrocatalytic conversion of NO3-to NH3synthesis. This work provides valuable guidance for the synthesis of value-added chemicals by 5-hydroxymethylfurfural electrocatalytic oxidation coupled with NO3-while efficiently producing NH3.

Optimization of the average figure-of-merit zT in medium-entropy GeTe-based materials via entropy engineering

Entropy engineering has emerged as an effective strategy for improving the figure-of-merit zT by decelerating the phonon transport while maintaining good electrical transport properties of thermoelectric ***,a high average zT of 1.54 and a maximum zT of 2.1 are achieved in the mid-entropy GeTe constructed by Ag,Sb,and Pb *** room temperature,the mid-entropy GeTe tends to be a cubic *** the power factor is improved from 7.7μW·cm^(-1)·K^(-2) to 16.2μW·cm·cm^(-1)·K^(-2) due to the large increase in effective mass and the optimized carrier *** increasing disorder created by heavy and off-centering Ag,Sb,and Pb atoms induces strong mass/strain fluctuations and phonon scattering to decelerate the phonon transport in GeTe.A low lattice thermal conductivity is obtained in the medium-entropy GeTe-based ***,a GeTe-based thermoelectric cooler is fabricated with the cooling temperature difference of 66.6 K with the hot end fixed at 363 *** work reveals the effectiveness of entropy engineering in improving the average zT in GeTe and shows potential application of GeTe as a thermoelectric cooler.

Machine learning noise exposure detection of rail transit drivers using heart rate variability

Previous studies have found that drivers’physiological conditions can deteriorate under noise conditions,which poses a potential hazard when *** a result,it is crucial to identify the status of drivers when exposed to different ***,such explo-rations are rarely discussed with short-term physiological indicators,especially for rail transit *** this study,an experiment involving 42 railway transit drivers was conducted with a driving simulator to assess the impact of noise on drivers’physiological *** the individuals’heterogeneity,this study introduced drivers’noise annoyance to measure their *** variances of drivers’heart rate variability(HRV)along with different noise adaptions are explored when exposed to different noise *** machine learning approaches(support vector machine,K-nearest neighbour and random forest)were then used to classify their physiological status under different noise conditions according to the HRV and drivers’self-noise *** indicate that the volume of traffic noise negatively affects drivers’performance in their *** with different noise adaptions but exposed to a fixed noise were found with discrepant HRV,demonstrating that noise adaption is highly associated with drivers’physiological status under *** is also found that noise adaption inclusion could raise the accuracy of ***,the random forests classifier performed the best in identifying the physiological status when exposed to noise conditions for drivers with different noise adaptions.

Single-photon laser ranging has widespread applications in remote sensing and target ***,highly sensitive light detection and ranging(lidar)has long been restricted in the visible or near-infrared *** appealing quest is to extend the operation wavelength into the mid-infrared(MIR)region,which calls for an infrared photon-counting system at high detection sensitivity and precise temporal ***,we devise and demonstrate an MIR upconversion lidar based on nonlinear asynchronous optical ***,the infrared probe is interrogated in a nonlinear crystal by a train of pump pulses at a slightly different repetition rate,which favors temporal optical scanning at a picosecond timing resolution and a kilohertz refreshing rate ***,the cross-correlation upconversion trace is temporally stretched by a factor of 2×10^(4),which can thus be recorded by a low-bandwidth silicon *** combination with the time-correlated photon-counting technique,the achieved effective resolution is about two orders of magnitude better than the timing jitter of the detector itself,which facilitates a ranging precision of 4μm under a low detected flux of 8×10^(−5) photons per *** presented MIR time-of-flight range finder is featured with single-photon sensitivity and high positioning resolution,which would be particularly useful in infrared sensing and imaging in photon-starved scenarios.

6PPD-quinone affects the photosynthetic carbon fixation in cyanobacteria by extracting photosynthetic electrons

Photosynthetic carbon fixation by cyanobacteria plays a pivotal role in the global carbon cycle but is threatened by environmental *** date,the impact of quinones,with electron shuttling properties,on cyanobacterial photosynthesis is ***,we present the first study investigating the effects of an emerging quinone pollutant,i.e.,6PPD-Q(N-(1,3-dimethylbutyl)-N0-phenyl-p-phenylenediamine-quinone),on the cyanobacterium Synechocystis *** a 400-generation exposure *** *** distinct sequential phases,including hormesis,toxicity,and eventual recovery,throughout this *** evidence,including results of thylakoid membrane morphological and photosynthetic responses,carbon fixation rate,and key gene/protein analyses,strongly indicates that 6PPD-Q is a potent disruptor of photosynthesis.6PPD-Q accepts photosynthetic electrons at the plastoquinone QB site in photosystem II(PSII)and the phylloquinone A1 site in PSI,leading to a sustained decrease in the carbon fixation of cyanobacteria after an ephemeral *** work revealed the specific mechanism by which 6PPD-Q interferes with photosynthetic carbon fixation in cyanobacteria,which is highly important for the global carbon cycle.
