BACE1 in the retina:a sensitive biomarker for monitoring early pathological changes in Alzheimer's disease

Because of a lack of sensitive biomarkers,the diagnosis of Alzheimer＇s disease（AD） cannot be made prior to symptom ***,it is crucial to identify novel biomarkers for the presymptomatic diagnosis of *** brain lesions are a major feature of AD,retinal pathological changes also occur in *** this study,we investigated the temporal changes in β-site APP-cleaving enzyme 1（BACE1） expression in the retina and brain to determine whether it could serve as a suitable biomarker for early monitoring of ***/PS-1 transgenic mice,3,6 and 8 months of age,were used as an experimental group,and age-matched C57/BL6 wild-type mice served as the control *** the Morris water maze test,there were no significant differences in escape latency or in the number of crossings in the target area among mice of different *** with wild-type mice,no changes in learning or memory abilities were detected in transgenic mice at 3 months of ***,compared with wild-type mice,the escape latency was significantly increased in transgenic mice at 6 months,starting on day 3,and at 8 months,starting on day 2,during Morris water maze *** addition,the number of crossings of the target area was significantly decreased in transgenic *** learning and memory abilities of transgenic mice were further worsened at 8 months of *** staining revealed no BACE1 plaques in wild-type mice at 3,6 or 8 months or in transgenic mice at 3 months,but they were clearly found in the entorhinal cortex,hippocampus and prefrontal cortex of transgenic mice at 6 and 8 ***1 expression was not detected in the retina of wild-type mice at 3 months,but weak BACE1 expression was detected in the ganglion cell layer,inner plexiform layer and outer plexiform layer at 6 and 8 *** transgenic mice,BACE1 expression in the ganglion cell layer was increased at 3 months,and BACE1 expression in the ganglion cell layer,inner plexiform layer and outer plex

This paper presents a comprehensive overview of the historical trajectory and development in biophoton studies over the past 100 years,with a particular focus on the recent progress regarding the pivotal role of biophoton in mediating radiation-induced bystander effects(RIBE).The exploration of biophoton mystery starts from the initial observation of mitogenetic radiation and continues to develop to the contemporary science of *** properties and underlying mechanisms of biophoton emission are described with illustrative examples from diverse biological systems such as plants,animals and *** conclusive evidence of cell-to-cell commu-nication facilitated by biophoton signaling is presented,followed by an elaborate interpretation of potential mechanisms through which biophoton mediates *** engagement of mitochondria and exosomes in this process is extensively clarified,by highlighting their significant roles in biophoton-mediated *** advances in biophoton research in respect of bystander response to ionizing radiation may offer profound insights into radiobiology and provide for possible future applications as well in radiation medicine and protection.

The welding arc,as a carrier for the conversion of electrical energy to thermal energy,has a direct impact on the quality of welding by its properties and *** the tungsten inert gas(TIG)welding process under the condition of Ar-He alternating gas supply,the arc is alternately converted between Ar arc and He arc with an alternating gas supply cycle,which has obvious arc change *** FLUENT software was used to numerically simulate the characteristics of the TIG arc under the condition of alternating gas supply,and the arc temperature field,arc pressure,electric potential and current density distribution under the condition of alternating gas supply were *** with the real-time data of arc pressure measured by the water-cooled copper plate with holes,it is proved that the TIG arc has obvious dynamic characteristics under the condition of Ar-He alternating gas *** unique dynamic TIG arc acts on the 5A06 aluminum alloy weld,causing the molten pool to stir,resulting in uniform microstructure and grain refinement at the weld,and thereby improving the mechanical properties of the welded joint.

Exploring wide voltage window materials is not only an available measure to enhance the energy density of hybrid supercapacitor(HSCs),but also avoids the dynamic mismatch caused by different energy storage mechanisms of two electrodes in assembled symmetrical ***,there are few reports about the wide potential window materials except Bi_(2)O_(3)and VO_(2).Therefore,the MnF_(2)synthesized by solvothermal reaction was served as the electrode for *** MnF_(2)exhibited electrochemical activity in alkaline solution in three-electrode system,especially with a wide potential window from-0.8 to+0.5 V in 2 mol·L^(-1)***,the assembled MnF_(2)//MnF_(2)symmetrical HSC had a potential window of 1.5 V,and it exhibited outstanding long-cycle ***,when MnF_(2)was taken as the negative and positive respectively,the potential windows of asymmetric devices CoMoO_(4)//MnF_(2)and MnF_(2)//Activated Carbon(AC)could reach 1.3 and 1.45 V,respectively,showing excellent cycle *** work shows that MnF_(2)material has great research value in HSC,and provides a new research direction for developing high-performance devices.

The valley index is a promising degree of freedom for information processing in electronic ***,the researches on valley polarization are mainly focused on ferromagnetic order,which breaks the time reversal symmetry ***,a novel paradigm for achieving stacking order modulated anomalous valley Hall(AVH)effect is proposed in antiferromagnetic *** paradigm involves the introduction and reversal of nonuniform potentials by modulating the position of substrate,to break the combined symmetry of spatial inversion and time reversal(PT symmetry)and achieve stacking-dependent valley spin *** on first-principles calculations,we discover spontaneous valley polarization in antiferromagnetic Cr_(2)CH_(2) MXene and stacking-dependent valley spin splitting in Cr_(2)CH_(2)/Sc_(2)CO_(2) ***,switching the ferroelectric polarization of monolayer Sc_(2)CO_(2) results in a semiconductor-metal transition in Cr_(2)CH_(2)/Sc_(2)CO_(2),accompanied by the disappearance of valley *** findings provide an alternative way to develop controllable valleytronics devices based on antiferromagnetic monolayers.

The quality upgrading and deashing of inferior coal by chemical method still faces great *** dangers of strong acid,strong alkali,waste water and exhaust gas as well as high cost limit its industrial *** paper systematically investigates the ash reduction and desilicification of two typical inferior coal utilizing ammonium fluoride roasting *** the optimal conditions,for fat coal and gas coal,the deashing rates are 69.02%and 54.13%,and the desilicification rates are 92.64%and 90.27%,*** molar dosage of ammonium fluoride remains consistent for both coals;however,the gas coal,characterized by a lower ash and silica content(less than half that of the fat coal),achieves optimum deashing effect at a reduced time and *** majority of silicon in coal transforms into gaseous ammonium fluorosilicate,subsequently preparing nanoscale amorphous silica with a purity of 99.90%through ammonia *** of the fluorine in deashed coal are assigned in inorganic minerals,suggesting the possibility of further fluorine and ash removal via *** research provides a green and facile route to deash inferior coal and produce nano-scale white carbon black simultaneously.

Zinc metal anodes are gaining popularity in aqueous electrochemical energy storage systems for their high safety,cost-effectiveness,and high ***,the service life of zinc metal anodes is severely constrained by critical challenges,including dendrites,water-induced hydrogen evolution,and *** this study,a protective two-dimensional metal–organic framework interphase is in situ constructed on the zinc anode surface with a novel gel vapor deposition *** ultrathin interphase layer(~1μm)is made of layer-stacking 2D nanosheets with angstrom-level pores of around 2.1Å,which serves as an ion sieve to reject large solvent–ion pairs while homogenizes the transport of partially desolvated zinc ions,contributing to a uniform and highly reversible zinc *** the shielding of the interphase layer,an ultra-stable zinc plating/stripping is achieved in symmetric cells with cycling over 1000 h at 0.5 mA cm−2 and~700 h at 1 mA cm^(−2),far exceeding that of the bare zinc anodes(250 and 70 h).Furthermore,as a proof-of-concept demonstration,the full cell paired with MnO_(2) cathode demonstrates improved rate performances and stable cycling(1200 cycles at 1 A g−1).This work provides fresh insights into interphase design to promote the performance of zinc metal anodes.

KTi_(2)(PO_(4))_(3)is a promising anode material for potassium storage,but suffers from low conductivity and difficult balance between high capacity and good structural ***,the Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)MXene is used as a multifunctional binder to fabricate the KTi_(2)(PO_(4))_(3)electrode by the traditional homogenizing-coating *** MXene nanosheets,together with the conductive agent super P nanoparticles,construct a multiple conductive network for fast electron/ion transfer and high electrochemical ***,the network ensures the structural stability of the KTi_(2)(PO_(4))_(3)electrode during the de-intercalation/intercalation of 4 K^(+)ions,which is beneficial for simultaneously achieving high capacity and good cycle ***,the MXene-bonded KTi_(2)(PO_(4))_(3)electrode delivers a reversible capacity of 255.2 mAh/g at 50 mA/g,outstanding rate capability with 132.3 mAh/g at 2 A/g,and ex-cellent cycle performance with 151.6 mAh/g at 1 A/g after 2000 *** work not only suggests a high-performance anode material for potassium-ion batteries,but also demonstrates that the MXene is a promising binder material for constructing conductive electrodes in rechargeable batteries.
