Encapsulating metal nanoparticles in carbon shells(Metal@C)to enhance catalytic activity and stability has been certified ***,most existing methods for preparing Metal@C are complex,time-consuming,and lack of *** this study,a novel method that couples the high-temperature shock(HTS)with ultrasonic spray pyrolysis is reported,which can realize facile and scalable production of various Metal@C through the pyrolysis of glucose and metal chloride *** proposed HTS ultrasonic spray pyrolysis offers several advantages,including compact size,short reaction time(~120 ms),and uniform *** the Ni@C-40 nanocomposite as an example,the ultrasmall Ni nanoparticles(~10 nm)with thin carbon protective shells(~2 nm)are uniformly dispersed in the carbon matrix and applied for oxygen evolution reaction(OER)in alkaline *** Ni@C-40 optimized by tuning the thickness of carbon shell exhibits significantly enhanced OER activity with low overpotential of 242 mV at 10 mA·cm^(-2) and stability,which is attributed to the optimized interactions between Ni nanoparticles and carbon *** method also shows promise for continuous pyrolysis synthesis of various extreme materials at ultra-high temperatures using alternative electric heating materials.

BACKGROUND Primary squamous cell carcinoma(SCC)of the renal parenchyma is extremely rare,with only nine cases *** SUMMARY This study reports a 51-year-old man with primary SCC of the renal *** patient was admitted with recurrent dull pain and discomfort in the right lumbar region,which had worsened over 2 weeks,accompanied by painful gross *** antigen(SCCA)levels were elevated,and imaging revealed a renal mass with associated *** patient underwent laparoscopic unilateral nephrectomy and lymph node *** pathology confirmed highly differentiated SCC with necrosis in the right renal parenchyma,with negative renal pelvis and *** pathological stage was *** months after surgery,the tumor recurred with involvement of the liver,right psoas major muscle,and inferior vena *** patient refused chemotherapy and succumbed to the disease 6 months postoperatively due to disease *** We report a case of primary SCC of the renal parenchyma,a rare renal *** clinical symptoms,laboratory tests,and imaging findings are nonspecific,making accurate and timely diagnosis *** to the literature,for patients with renal calculi accompanied by a renal mass,elevated serum SCCA levels,and magnetic resonance imaging showing cystic or cystic-solid masses within the kidney with pseudocapsules and heterogeneous mild enhancement,the possibility of this disease should be considered.

登革热(dengue fever,DF)是由Ⅰ、Ⅱ、Ⅲ和Ⅳ型登革病毒(dengue virus,DENV)引起的急性传染病,抗体依赖增强感染(antibody-dependent enhancement,ADE)是自限性的登革热以及危及生命的登革出血热(dengue hemorrhagic fever,DHF)或登革休克综合症(dengue shock syndrome,DSS)等重症的主要原因。采用不同稀释度的Ⅱ型登革病毒prM前膜抗体与分离自云南西双版纳重症病人的Ⅲ型登革病毒复合感染THP-1细胞,通过实时荧光定量PCR发现亚中和浓度prM前膜抗体诱发THP-1细胞液中更高浓度的病毒载量。在THP-1细胞系上的研究可为后续研究登革病毒ADE打下坚实的基础。

Robustness of F-Tests in Singular Linear Models

F-test is the most popular test in the general linear model. However, there is few discussions on the robustness of F-test under the singular linear model. In this paper, the necessary and sufficient conditions of robust F-test statistic are given under the general linear models or their partition models, which allows that the design matrix has deficient rank and the covariance matrix of error is a nonnegative definite matrix with parameters. The main results obtained in this paper include the existing findings of the general linear model under the definite covariance matrix. The usage of the theorems is illustrated by an example.

Glycogen synthase kinase 3β（GSK3β） is a multifunctional serine/threonine kinase. It is particularly abundant in the developing central nervous system （CNS）. Since GSK3β has diverse substrates ranging from metabolic/ signaling proteins and structural proteins to transcription factors, it is involved in many developmental events in the immature brain, such as neurogenesis, neuronal migration, differentiation and survival. The activity of GSK3β is developmentally regulated and is affected by various environmental/cellular insults, such as deprivation of nutrients/ trophic factors, oxidative stress and endoplasmic reticulum stress. Abnormalities in GSK3β activity may disrupt CNS development. Therefore, GSK3β is a critical signaling protein that regulates brain development. It may also determine neuronal susceptibility to damages caused by various environmental insults.

Seasonal Prediction of Summer Precipitation over East Africa Using NUIST-CFS1.0

East Africa is particularly vulnerable to precipitation variability, as the livelihood of much of the population depends on rainfed agriculture. Seasonal forecasts of the precipitation anomalies, when skillful, can therefore improve implementation of coping mechanisms with respect to food security and water management. This study assesses the performance of Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology Climate Forecast System version 1.0(NUISTCFS1.0) on forecasting June–September(JJAS) seasonal precipitation anomalies over East Africa. The skill in predicting the JJAS mean precipitation initiated from 1 May for the period of 1982–2019 is evaluated using both deterministic and probabilistic verification metrics on grid cell and over six distinct clusters. The results show that NUIST-CFS1.0 captures the spatial pattern of observed seasonal precipitation climatology, albeit with dry and wet biases in a few parts of the region. The model has positive skill across a majority of Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, whereas it doesn’t exceed the skill of climatological forecasts in parts of Sudan and southeastern Ethiopia. Positive forecast skill is found over regions where the model shows better performance in reproducing teleconnections related to oceanic SST. The prediction performance of NUIST-CFS1.0 is found to be on a level that is potentially useful over a majority of East Africa.
