Degradation of Populus euphratica community in the lower reaches of the Tarim River, Xinjiang, China

To investigate the relationships between the degradation of plant community and groundwater level in the lower reaches of the Tarim River, nine monitored sections were set along the main stream, where there had been no runoff for nearly 30 years. The characteristics of plant communities were analyzed. It was found that the coverage of trees gradually decreased along the groundwater depth gradient, while the coverage of shrubs slightly increased rather than decreased at first and then gradually decreased, and the coverage of herbs steadily decreased at the beginning and then quickly decreased. The species diversity and species richness of both herbs and woody plants showed obvious degrading trends, while the variations in species evenness were slight. The degrading sequences of species were related to their physiological and ecological characteristics, especially their sensitivity to changes of groundwater table. The herbs with shallow roots first degenerated or disappeared when the groundwater table fell, and then did the deep-rooted herbs, and finally the trees and shrubs with strong tolerance to drought degenerated. The Populus euphratica communities showed typical degrading characteristics, namely the dominant species Populus euphratica remained its dominant status during the degradation. Overall, the existence of strongly tolerant-drought species was the obvious indication of plant species degradation; while simplification of community structure and the decrease of species richness were the obvious indication of plant community degradation.

Porous silicon(PSi)was applied as a supporting substrate for stepwise covalent derivatization of undecylenic acid, N-hydroxysuccinimidyl ester(NHS-ester)and nitrilotriacetic acid(NTA).By taking the advantages of porous silicon as a supporting matrix such as high surface area to volume ratio,infrared transparency,porous semiconductors for laser desorption/ionization mass spectroscopy,and low fluorescence background,a multi-mode detection biochip prototype can be realized. We prepared such a protein microarray by spotting NTA microarray dots on NHS-ester derivatized PSi,converting the rest of chip area into poly(ethylene glycol)background,loading NiII,and finally affinity-binding histidine-tagged(His-tagged)*** the multi-mode analyses of infrared spectroscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),atomic force microscopy(AFM),matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectroscopy(MALDI-MS),and fluorescence scanning,two example proteins,His-tagged thioredoxin-urodilatin and His-tagged aprotinin,were well qualified and quantified.

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy of electro-acupuncture(EA)or transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation(TEAS)on perioperative cerebral blood flow(CBF)and neurological function in ischemic stroke(IS)patients undergoing carotid artery stenting(CAS).Methods:In total,124 consecutive IS patients were randomly allocated to the EA,TEAS,and sham groups(groups A,T,and S;41,42,and 41 cases,respectively)by softwarederived random-number *** A and T received EA and TEAS,respectively,at the Shuigou(GV 26)and Baihui(GV 20),Hegu(LI4)and Waiguan(TE 5)*** S received sham *** stimulation was started from 30 min before surgery until the end of the *** primary outcome was the CBF at 30 min after surgery,which was measured by transcranial Doppler *** secondary outcomes included hyperperfusion incidence and neurological *** Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)and General Evaluation Scale(GES)scores were recorded at 1 week,1 month,and 3 months ***:Mean CBF velocity at 30 min after surgery in groups A and T was much lower than that in Group S(P<0.05);the incidence of hyperperfusion in Groups A and T was also lower than that in group S(P<0.05).Acupuncture was an independent factor associated with reduced incidence of hyperperfusion(OR=0.042;95%CI:0.002–0.785;P=0.034).NIHSS and GES scores improved significantly at 1 week postoperatively in Groups A and T than in Group S(P<0.05).Relative to Group S,groups A and T exhibited significantly lower incidences of moderate pain,as well as higher incidences of satisfaction with anesthesia,at 1 day postoperatively(P<0.05).Conclusion:EA or TEAS administered in combination with local anesthesia during CAS can inhibit transient increases in CBF,reduce the incidence of postoperative hyperperfusion,and improve neurological function.

Background Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)has spread around the world and reports of children during early epidemic period showed features of family *** aim of this study is to assess clinical profiles of COVID-19 in family clusters with *** We performed a systematic literature review of English database(PubMed,Web of Science)and Chinese database(“***”,“***”and“***”)to identify papers on family clusters of COVID-19 with children and their family *** Eighteen studies involving 34 children and 98 adults from 28 families were ***,cough and ground-grass opacity change of chest computed tomography(CT)were the dominant features,whereas proportion of asymptomatic infections for children was higher than adults with statistical significance(32.4%and 13.3%,respectively,P<0.05).Median time of longer incubation period(10 days)and shorter duration of pharyngeal swab nucleic acid test positive period(11 days)were seen in children than adults(7 and 17 days,respectively)with statistical significance(P<0.05).There were statistically significant differences in lymphopenia,increased C-reactive protein and abnormal chest CT between children and adult patients(P<0.05).Twenty-seven families reported adults as first case of COVID-19 in family *** The same virus strain can cause milder disease in children compared with their *** of COVID-19 were infected by adults in family during the early epidemic *** patients can transmit the virus.

Deployment of multiple radio access technologies(RATs) at the same cell site enables the system to flexibly support different types of devices and services. Such multi-RAT systems call for an efficient utilization of the system resources as well as simplified management. In this paper, we take a user-centric approach and let each individual user equipment decide its own access strategy in a multi-RAT system with regulated interference constraints. The formulated problem is a generalized Nash equilibrium(GNE) problem. We show that there always exists a GNE but its uniqueness is not guaranteed. A closed form solution is provided to characterize a special class of the GNEs. We then propose a primal-dual algorithm with detailed convergence analysis for computing a GNE. The proposed algorithm may have practical implications in the design of multi-RAT systems.

Carbon materials are widely recognized as highly promising electrode materials for various energy storage system *** tar residues(CTR),as a type of carbon-rich solid waste with high value-added utilization,are crucially important for the development of a more sustainable *** this study,we employed a straightforward direct carbonization method within the temperature range of 700-1000℃to convert the worthless solid waste CTR into economically valuable carbon materials as anodes for potassium-ion batteries(PIBs).The effect of carbonization temperature on the microstructure and the potassium ions storage properties of CTR-derived carbons(CTRCs)were systematically explored by structural and morphological characterization,alongside electrochemical performances *** on the co-regulation between the turbine layers,crystal structure,pore structure,functional groups,and electrical conductivity of CTR-derived carbon carbonized at 900℃(CTRC-900H),the electrode material with high reversible capacity of 265.6m Ah·g^(-1)at 50 m A·g^(-1),a desirable cycling stability with 93.8%capacity retention even after 100 cycles,and the remarkable rate performance for PIBs were ***,cyclic voltammetry(CV)at different scan rates and galvanostatic intermittent titration technique(GITT)have been employed to explore the potassium ions storage mechanism and electrochemical kinetics of *** indicate that the electrode behavior is predominantly governed by surface-induced capacitive processes,particularly under high current densities,with the potassium storage mechanism characterized by an“adsorption-weak intercalation”*** work highlights the potential of CTR-based carbon as a promising electrode material category suitable for high-performance PIBs electrodes,while also provides valuable insights into the new avenues for the high value-added utilization of CTR.
