Alpine plants possess unique traits to adapt alpine *** leaf trait relationships of alpine plants can be captured by the two trait dimensions of organ size and resource economics is *** hypothesized that,beyond the trait dimensions of leaf size and resource economics,nonstructured carbohydrates(NSC)would reflect a dimension of cold-tolerance in alpine *** test this hypothesis,we measured 12 leaf traits critical to leaf construction and growth in 143 species across 7 sites ranging from alpine steppes to alpine meadows along an environmental gradient on the Tibetan ***,a cold resistance experiment was conducted at one of these sites to estimate the lethal temperature causing 50%frost damage(LT_(50))of 11 alpine *** majority of variations in 12 leaf traits of alpine plants were captured by three trait axes,in which leaf carbon(LCC)and NSC(including leaf starch;LSC and leaf soluble sugars;LSS)were clustered in a new dimension(PC3)beyond leaf size and structure,and resource *** LCC,LSC and LSS all showed negative correlations with mean annual temperature,a significant negative correlation was only found between LSS and LT_(50).It indicated that PC3 was able to reflect the cold-tolerance of alpine plants to some extent,in which LSS was the most critical *** storage and transformation of NSC under stressful conditions could reflect a dimension of long-term metabolic adaptation and cold-tolerance,which is an extension of the resource-utilization strategy beyond construction cost and growth.

A self-adaptive inorganic in-situ separator by particle crosslinking for nonflammable lithium-ion batteries

All-safe liquid-state lithium-ion batteries(ASLS-LIBs) is of great interest as they can potentially combine the safety of all-solid-state batteries with the high performance and low manufacturing cost of traditional liquid-state LIBs. However, the practical success of ASLS-LIBs is bottlenecked by the lack of advanced separator technology that can simultaneously realize high performances in puncturing-tolerability,fire-resistance, and importantly, wetting-capability with non-flammable liquid-electrolytes. Here, we propose a concept of inorganic in-situ separator(IISS) by hybrid-sol physical crosslinking directly onto the electrode surface to address the above challenges. Particularly, the hybrid-sol is designed with silica nanoparticles as the building block and poly(vinylidene difluoride) nanoparticles as the crosslinking agent. The critical factors for controlling the IISS microstructures and properties have been systematically investigated. The advantages of the IISS have been confirmed by its fast wetting with various fireresistant liquid-electrolytes, customizable thickness and porous structures, robust interface with planar or three-dimensional(3D)-structured electrodes, and importantly, unexpected self-adaptability against puncturing. Enabled by the above merits, a fire-resistant ASLS-LIB is successfully assembled and demonstrated with stable electrochemical performance. This sol-crosslinked IISS may open an avenue for the studies on the next-generation separator technology, cell assembling, solid electrolyte processing as well as non-flammable secondary batteries.

Earthquake monitoring and high-resolution velocity tomography for the central Longmenshan fault zone by a temporary dense seismic array

The Longmenshan（LMS） fault zone is located at the junction of the eastern Tibetan Plateau and the Sichuan Basin and is of great significance for studying regional tectonics and earthquake hazards. Although regional velocity models are available for the LMS fault zone, high-resolution velocity models are lacking. Therefore, a dense array of 240 short-period seismometers was deployed around the central segment of the LMS fault zone for approximately 30 days to monitor earthquakes and characterize fine structures of the fault zone. Considering the large quantity of observed seismic data, the data processing workflow consisted of deep learning-based automatic earthquake detection, phase arrival picking, and association. Compared with the earthquake catalog released by the China Earthquake Administration, many more earthquakes were detected by the dense array. Double-difference seismic tomography was adopted to determine Vp, Vs, and Vp/Vsmodels as well as earthquake locations. The checkerboard test showed that the velocity models have spatial resolutions of approximately 5 km in the horizontal directions and 2 km at depth. To the west of the Yingxiu–Beichuan Fault（YBF）, the Precambrian Pengguan complex, where most of earthquakes occurred, is characterized by high velocity and low Vp/Vsvalues. In comparison, to the east of the YBF, the Upper Paleozoic to Jurassic sediments, where few earthquakes occurred, show low velocity and high Vp/Vsvalues. Our results suggest that the earthquake activity in the LMS fault zone is controlled by the strength of the rock compositions. When the high-resolution velocity models were combined with the relocated earthquakes, we were also able to delineate the fault geometry for different faults in the LMS fault zone.

Structural characteristics and formation process of pseudotachylyte in the Wulian detachment fault zone on the jiaodong Peninsula， China

Exploring pseudotachylytes (PSTs) within detachment fault zones provides valuable insight into the kinematic processes of these fault systems. Nevertheless， significant controversy persists regarding the origin and formation mechanisms of PST veins. The PST was initially identified within the Wulian detachment fault zone (DFZ) on the jiaodong Peninsula by delineating the deformation characteristics of the fault zone's transition from ductile to ductile-brittle behavior. Macroscopic and microstructural features of the PST within the Wulian DFZ were examined using geological field surveys. Using quantitative and high-resolution techniques， such as scanning electron microscopy， TIMA-X mineral composition analysis， and transmission electron microscopy， variations in mineral composition between the veins and detritals of the PST were investigated. Furthermore， this study has investigated the progressive deformation processes and underlying causes contributing to PST formation within the DFZ. This study revealed the presence of both type D and B-type PSTs in the Wulian DFZ formed under ductile or ductile-brittle conditions. These PSTs exhibit fracture and fusion structures resulting from fault frictional fragmentation and frictional melting and undergo progressive deformation. During the initial stages of the D-type PST formation， biotite fragmentation in poorly cohesive foliation was the primary contributor， supplemented by frictional melting. As the deformation progressed， quartz fragmentation and partial melting became dominant， constituting up to 81.9% of the matrix. The formation of the B-type PST aligns with deformation under brittle or ductile-brittle conditions， with frictional fragmentation and fragmentation flow playing significant roles. Vein formation is initiated by biotite fragmentation or partial melting， followed by quartz， potassium feldspar， albite fragmentation， or partial melting. Composite-mask GAN based on refined optical flow and disparity map for SLAM visual odometry

Although deep learning methods have been widely applied in slam visual odometry over the past decade with impressive improvements， the accuracy remains limited in complex dynamic environments. In this paper， a composite mask-based generative adversarial network is introduced to predict camera motion and binocular depth maps. Specifically， a perceptual generator is constructed to obtain the corresponding parallax map and optical flow from between two neighboring frames. Then， an iterative pose improvement strategy is proposed to improve the accuracy of pose estimation. Finally， a composite mask is embedded in the discriminator to sense structural deformation in the synthesized virtual image， thereby increasing the overall structural constraints of the network model， improving the accuracy of camera pose estimation， and reducing drift issues in the Visual Odometer. Detailed quantitative and qualitative evaluations on the KITTI dataset show that the proposed framework outperforms existing conventional， supervised learning and unsupervised depth VO methods， providing better results in both pose estimation and depth estimation.
