The plasma membrane （PM） H^＋-ATPase is an important ion pump in the plant cell membrane. By extruding protons from the cell and generating a membrane potential, this pump energizes the PM, which is a prerequisite for growth. Modification of the autoinhibitory terminal domains activates PM H^＋-ATPase activity, and on this basis it has been hypothesized that these regulatory termini are targets for physiological factors that activate or inhibit proton pumping. In this review, we focus on the posttranslational regulation of the PM H＋-ATPase and place regulation of the pump in an evolutionary and physiological context. The emerging picture is that multiple signals regulating plant growth interfere with the posttranslational regulation of the PM H^＋-ATPase.

Dear Editor, Flowering plants undergo a life cycle in which the diploid sporo- phyte constitutes the predominant generation, and the haploid male and female gametophytes are reduced to only a few but highly specialized cells （McCormick, 1993）. To achieve expression restricted to certain cell types, genes are not only actively expressed in these cells, they might also be repressed elsewhere. Here, we report that deleting an 88-base-pair （bp） promoter sequence of the pollen-specific gene ACA7 redirects its expression to the sporophyte.

OBJECTIVES To assess the extended feasibility of a telerehabilitation program and its effects on physical performance in older adults who have recently undergone transcatheter aortic valve implantation(TAVI).METHODS In this single-center feasibility study, patients underwent an eight-week telerehabilitation program, involving webbased home exercise training twice weekly, an activity tracker, access to an informative website, and one online session with a nurse, starting one-week postoperative. Data collection was performed before surgery and three months postoperative. The feasibility of the intervention was based on recruitment and adherence to the program. As a secondary outcome, we evaluated the change in six-minute walk distance from before surgery to three months *** Forty-one patients scheduled for TAVI were assessed for eligibility;15 patients(37%) were enrolled. Of these, eight were excluded after surgery due to tiredness(n = 2), non-cardiac related hospital readmission(n = 2), fluctuating health(n = 1),death during hospital stay(n = 1), and reduced cognition(n = 2). Seven patients completed the eight-week web-based intervention and were evaluated three months postoperative. Their median(IQR) age was 83 [81, 87] years, and the sample comprised three men and four women. Their walked distance improved from median(IQR) 262 [199, 463] before surgery, to 381 [267, 521]meters three months postoperative. No adverse events were *** Web-based telerehabilitation, including supervised exercise training, in older adults who have recently undergone TAVI was feasible for a small number of patients who completed the eight-week intervention. This was reflected in an improvement in their walked distance three months after the surgery. However, the low recruitment and retention rates do question the overall feasibility of this intervention in a frail, older population of post-TAVI patients.

AIM: To clarify the association between physical activity and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in nonobese and obese people. METHODS: A Swedish population-based cross-sectional survey was conducted. Participants aged 40-79 years were randomly selected from the Swedish Registry of the Total Population. Data on physical activity, GERD, body mass index (BMI) and the covariates age, gender, comorbidity, education, sleeping problems, and tobacco smoking were obtained using validated questionnaires. GERD was self-reported and defined as heartburn or regurgitation at least once weekly, and having at least moderate problems from such symptoms. Frequency of physical activity was categorized into three groups: (1) "high" (several times/week); (2) "intermediate" (approximately once weekly); and (3) "low" (1-3 times/mo or less). Analyses were stratified for participants with "normal weight" (BMI 30 kg/m 2 ). Multivariate logistic regression was used to calculate odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs), adjusted for potential confounding by covariates. RESULTS: Of 6969 eligible and randomly selected individuals, 4910 (70.5%) participated. High frequency of physical activity was reported by 2463 (50%) participants, GERD was identified in 472 (10%) participants, and obesity was found in 680 (14%). There were 226 (5%) individuals with missing information about BMI. Normal weight, overweight and obese participants were similar regarding distribution of gender and tobacco smoking status, while obese participants were on average slightly older, had fewer years of education, more comorbidity, slightly more sleeping problems, lower frequency of physical activity, and higher occurrence of GERD. Among the 2146 normal-weight participants, crude point estimates indicated a decreased risk of GERD among individuals with high frequency of physical activity (OR: 0.59, 95% CI: 0.39-0.89), compared to low

真核生物RNA聚合酶Ⅱ的持续合成能力对基因转录过程中每一个阶段,包括启动子脱离、转录暂停、转录终止以及转录偶联DNA损伤修复过程的调节至关重要.在RNA聚合酶Ⅱ介导的转录延伸过程中,其和模板DNA及转录产物RNA紧密结合,形成一个非常稳定的延伸三维复合物(elongationcomplex,EC).此特征性“泡”状结构的形成是RNA聚合酶Ⅱ持续合成能力所必需的.在不依赖启动子及众多转录起始因子的条件下,利用人工合成的RNA与DNA寡核苷酸,在体外组装形成具有功能转录活性的延伸复合物.结果表明,长度为9个核苷酸的RNA与模板DNA形成的杂合分子对转录延伸复合物的形成是必需的,而非转录模板DNA链的加入导致最终活性转录“泡”状复合物的形成,并可转录形成与模板相关的转录产物,进一步通过在模板DNA的特定位置引入一个乙酰氧乙酰氨基芴修饰基团,可特异性地阻断转录延伸过程,从而显示该系统在研究真核基因转录及转录偶联DNA损伤修复机制中的潜在应用价值.
