CDCC calculations of fusion of 6Li with targets 144sm and 154sm：effect of resonance states

Continuum Discretized Coupled-Channel（CDCC） model calculations of total, complete and incomplete fusion cross sections for reactions of the weakly bound 6Li with 144,154sm targets at energies around the Coulomb barrier are presented. In the cluster structure frame of 6Li→α＋d, short-range absorption potentials are considered for the interactions between the ground state of the projectile 6Li and α-d fragments with the target. In order to separately calculate complete and incomplete fusion and to reduce double-counting, the corresponding absorption potentials are chosen to be of different range. Couplings to low-lying excited states 2＋, 3-of 144sm and 2＋, 4＋ of 154sm are included. so, the effect on total fusion from the excited states of the target is investigated. similarly, the effect on fusion due to couplings to resonance breakup states of 6Li, namely, l = 2,Jπ= 3＋, 2＋, 1＋ is also *** latter effect is determined by using two approaches,（a） by considering only resonance state couplings and（b）by omitting these states from the full discretized energy space. Among other things, it is found that both resonance and non-resonance continuum breakup couplings produce fusion suppression at all the energies considered.

The road to opportunities： landscape change promotes body-size divergence in a highly mobile species

Landscape change provides a suitable framework for investigating population-level responses to novel ecological pressures. However, relatively little attention has been paid to examine the poten- tial influence of landscape change on the geographic scale of population differentiation. Here, we tested for morphological differentiation of red-necked nightjars Caprimulgus ruficollis breeding in a managed property and a natural reserve situated less than 10 km apart. At both sites, we also esti- mated site fidelity over 5 years and quantified the potential foraging opportunities for nightjars. Breeding birds in the managed habitat were significantly larger in size--as indexed by keel length--than those in the natural one. However, there were no significant differences in wing or tail length. Immigration from neighboring areas was almost negligible and, furthermore, no individual （out of 1130 captures overall） exchanged habitats between years, indicating strong site fidelity. Food supply for nightjars was equally abundant in both habitats, but the availability of foraging sites was remarkably higher in the managed property. As a result, nightjars--particularly fledg- lings-in the latter habitat benefited from increased foraging opportunities in relation to those in the natural site. It seems likely that the fine-scale variation in nightjar morphology reflects a pheno- typic response to unequal local conditions, since non-random dispersal or differential mortality had been determined not to be influential. High site fidelity appears to contribute to the mainten- ance of body-size differences between the two habitats. Results from this nightjar population high- light the potential of human-induced landscape change to promote population-level responses at exceedingly small geographic scales.

The effect of COpartial pressure was evaluated during the COchemisorption in penta lithium aluminate（LiAlO）, using different COand Opartial pressures in the presence or absence of alkaline carbonates. Results showed that using low PO（0.1） did not affect the kinetic and final COchemisorption process. Moreover, small additions of oxygen（PO= 0.05） into the mixture flue gas, seemed to increase the COchemisorption. Additionally, the presence of alkaline carbonates modified the COcapture temperature range. COchemisorption kinetic parameters were determined assuming a double exponential model where direct COchemisorption and COchemisorption controlled by diffusion processes are ***, ionic diffusion was analyzed by ionic conduction analysis, where all the gravimetric and ionic measurements were in good agreement showing different diffusion processes depending on ***, the oxygen and alkaline carbonate additions have positive effects during the COchemisorption process in LiAlO, and a possible reaction mechanism is presented.

Prey availability, prey selection, and trophic niche width in the lizard Psammodromus algirus along an elevational gradient

Mountains imply enormous environmental variation, with alpine habitats entailing harsh environ- ments, especially for ectotherms such as lizards. This environmental variability also may imply variation in prey availability. However, little is known about how lizard trophic ecology varies with elevation. In this study, we analyze diet, prey availability, prey selection, and trophic niche width in the lacertid lizard Psammodromus algirus along a 2,200-m elevational gradient in the sierra Nevada （sE spain）. The analysis of fecal samples has shown that Orthoptera, Formicidae, Hemiptera, Coleoptera, and Araneae are the main prey, although, according to their abundance in pitfall traps, Formicidae and Coleoptera are rejected by the lizard whereas Orthoptera, Hemiptera, and Araneae are preferred. Prey abundance and diversity increase with elevation and diet subtly varies along with the elevational gradient. The consumption of Coleoptera increases with elevation probably as a consequence of the lizard foraging more in open areas while basking. The electivity for Araneae increases with elevation. Araneae are rejected in the lowlands--where they are rela- tively abundant--whereas, at high elevation, this lizard positively selects them, despite they being less abundant. The lizard trophic niche width expands with elevation due to concomitant greater prey diversity and hence this lizard feeds on more prey types in highlands. Although no sex difference in diet has been found, the trophic niche is broader in females than males. As a whole, alpine lizards show a trophic niche simitar to that found at lower elevat（ons, suggesting that P. algirus is well adapted to the harsh environment found in alpine areas.

sensory analysis of Creole turkey meat with flash profile method

Different kind of feed can result in development of new meat odors, aroma and texture. The aim of the study was to use flash profile method to determine differences;if any, in sensory traits of Creole turkey meat with different alimentation programs. Treatments were kitchen leftovers + fresh forage, commercial feed, kitchen leftovers, commercial feed + fresh forage, and broken maize + fresh forage. Cooked thighs, drumstick and breast were used. For the meat evaluation two different groups of people were recruited. In order to perform the sensory profile of breast six persons were recruited, in a second group nine persons;in both cases they did not know what kind of meat they were evaluating. Each sensory profile had three replicas, previously three training sessions and establishment of sensory attributes criteria were held. Attribute discrimination was evaluated one-way ANOVA. To obtain consensus and treatment mean position, attributes of the subjects a Generalized Procrustes Analysis was used and comparison of treatments through an ascendant hierarchy classification. Thirty five different sensory descriptive were generated. There were differences in meat sensory profile, it can be said that different treatments influenced in different ways the muscle development of Creole turkey, creating new sensory attributes.

Rectal tone and compliance affected in patients with fecal incontinence after fistulotomy

AIM: To investigate the anal sphincter and rectal factors that may be involved in fecal incontinence that develops following fistulotomy(FIAF).METHODs: Eleven patients with FIAF were compared with 11 patients with idiopathic fecal incontinence and with 11 asymptomatic healthy subjects(Hs). All of the study participants underwent anorectal manometry and a barostat study(rectal sensitivity, tone, compliance and capacity). The mean time since surgery was 28 ± 26 mo. The postoperative continence score was 14 ± 2.5(95%CI: 12.4-15.5, st Mark's fecal incontinence grading system).REsULTs: Compared with the Hs, the FIAF patients showed increased rectal tone(42.63 ± 27.69 vs 103.5 ± 51.13, P = 0.002) and less rectal compliance(4.95 ± 3.43 vs 11.77 ± 6.9, P = 0.009). No significant differences were found between the FIAF patients and the Hs with respect to the rectal capacity; thresholds for the non-noxious stimuli of first sensation, gas sensation and urge-to-defecate sensation or the noxious stimulus of pain; anal resting pressure or squeeze pressure; or the frequency or percentage of relaxation of the rectoanal inhibitory reflex. No significant differences were found between the FIAF patients and the patients with idiopathic fecal ***: In patients with FIAF, normal motor anal sphincter function and rectal sensitivity are preserved, but rectal tone and compliance are impaired. The results suggest that FIAF is not due to alterations in rectal sensitivity and that the rectum is more involved than the anal sphincters in the genesis of FIAF.

Morphological determinants of jumping performance in the Iberian green frog

Predation is one of the main selective forces in nature, frequently selecting potential prey for developing escape strategies. Escape ability is typically influenced by several morphological parameters, such as morphology of the locomotor appendices, muscular capacity, body mass, or fluctuating asymmetry, and may differ between sexes and age classes. In this study, we tested the relationship among these variables and jumping performance in 712 Iberian green frogs Pelophylax perezi from an urban population. The results suggest that the main determinant of jumping capacity was body size (explaining 48% of variance). Larger frogs jumped farther, but jumping performance reached an asymptote for the largest frogs. Once controlled by structural body size, the heaviest frogs jumped shorter distances, suggesting a trade-off between fat storage and jumping performance. Relative hind limb length also determined a small but significant percentage of variance (2.4%) in jumping performance-that is, the longer the hind limbs, the greater the jumping capacity. Juveniles had relatively shorter and less muscular hind limbs than adults (for a given body size), and their jumping performance was poorer. In our study population, the hind limbs of the frogs were very symmetrical, and we found no effect of fluctuating asymmetry on jumping performance. Therefore, our study provides evidence that jumping performance in frogs is not only affected by body size, but also by body mass and hind limb length, and differ between age classes.

Efficiency in hydrocarbon degradation and biosurfactant production by Joostella sp.A8 when grown in pure culture and consortia

Joostella strains are emerging candidates for biosurfactant production. Here such ability was analyzed for Joostella strain A8 in comparison with Alcanivorax strain A53 and Pseudomonas strain A6, all previously isolated from hydrocarbon enrichment cultures made of polychaete homogenates. In pure cultures Joostella sp. A8 showed the highest stable emulsion percentage（78.33%）, hydrophobicity rate（62.67%）, and an optimal surface tension reduction during growth in mineral medium supplemented with diesel oil（reduction of about 12 mN/m）, thus proving to be highly competitive with Alcanivorax and Pseudomonas strains. During growth in pure culture different level of biodegradation were detected for Alcanivorax strain A53（52.7%）,Pseudomonas strain A6（38.2%） and Joostella strain A8（26.8%）. When growing in consortia,isolates achieved similar abundance values, with the best efficiency that was observed for the Joostella-Pseudomonas co-culture. Gas-chromatographic analysis revealed an increase in the biodegradation efficiency in co-cultures（about 90%）, suggesting that the contemporary action of different bacterial species could improve the process. Results were useful to compare the efficiencies of well-known biosurfactant producers（i.e. Pseudomonas and Alcanivorax representatives） with a still unknown biosurfactant producer, i.e. Joostella, and to confirm them as optimal biosurfactant-producing candidates.

Clinical outcomes of patterned laser trabeculoplasty as adjuvant therapy in open angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension

AIM： To assess the efficacy and safety of patterned laser trabeculoplasty（PLT） as an adjunctive treatment in open angle glaucoma（OAG） or ocular hypertension（OHT） patients who were under antiglaucoma medical ***： This study was a retrospective review of primary or secondary OAG patients and OHT patients with medically uncontrolled（≥18 mm Hg） intraocular pressure（IOP） who underwent 360o PLT from June 2016 to August 2016. Follow-up visits at week 1, and 1, 3 and 6 mo were performed. IOP, best corrected visual acuity（BCVA）, complications and eye drop glaucoma medication were recorded at each follow-up visit. success was defined as IOP reduction ≥20% from baseline. REsULTs： Forty-one eyes of 25 patients were included in this study. Pre-treatment mean IOP was 20.2±1.6 mm Hg. After PLT, IOP was 19.3±5.2, 16.1±2.7, 17.1±3.7 and 16.3±3.5 mm Hg,at 1 wk, 1, 3 and 6 mo, respectively. IOP reduction from baseline was statistically significant from the first month, remaining stable at 6 mo（P〈0.001）. PLT success at 6 mo of follow-up was 48.78%. The number of glaucoma medication per eye（P=0.10） and the mean BCVA both remained constant（P=0.37）. Complications included transient IOP spikes in 4 eyes（9.8%） and peripheral anterior synechiae in 7 eyes（17.1%）. CONCLUsION： PLT is an effective and safe method for the management of patients with OHT or OAG as an adjunctive therapy. Additional larger studies should be designed to verify the long-term stability of IOP reduction with this laser technology.
