Plant disease management plays an important role in achieving the sustainable development goals of the United Nations(UN)such as food security,human health,socio-economic improvement,resource conservation and ecological ***,technologies available are often limited due to different interests between producers and society and lacks of proper understanding of economic thresholds and the complex interactions among ecology,productivity and profitability.A comprehensive synergy and conflict evaluation of economic,sociological and ecological effects with technologies,productions and evolutionary principles as main components should be used to guide sustainable disease management that aims to mitigate crop and economic losses in the short term while maintaining functional farm ecosystem in the long ***,there should be an increased emphasis on technology development,public education and information exchange among governments,researchers,producers and consumers to broaden the options for disease management in the future.

The Persian Gulf war of 1990 to 1991 involved the deployment of nearly 700,000 American troops to the Middle ***-related exposures to toxic substances such as pesticides,nerve agents,pyridostigmine bromide(PB),smoke from burning oil wells,and petrochemicals may have contributed to medical illness in as many as 250,000 of those American *** cluster of chronic symptoms,now referred to as Gulf war Illness(GwI),has been studied by many researchers over the past two *** over$500 million has been spent on GwI research,to date,no cures or condition-specific treatments have been discovered,and the exact pathophysiology remains *** the 2007 National Institute of Health(NIH)Roadmap for Medical Research model as a reference framework,we reviewed studies of interventions involving GwI patients to assess the progress of treatment-related GwI *** GwI clinical trial studies reviewed involved investigations of existing interventions that have shown efficacy in other diseases with analogous *** reviewing the published and ongoing registered clinical trials for cognitivebehavioral therapy,exercise therapy,acupuncture,coenzyme Q10(coQ10),mifepristone,and carnosine in GwI patients,we identified only four treatments(cognitive-behavioral therapy,exercise therapy,coQ10,and mifepristone)that have progressed beyond a phase II *** conclude that progress in the scientific study of therapies for GwI has not followed the NIH Roadmap for Medical Research *** of a standard case definition,prioritized GwI research funding for the characterization of the pathophysiology of the condition,and rapid replication and adaptation of early phase,single site clinical trials could substantially advance research progress and treatment discovery for this condition.

Traditionally,a delayed(early)onset of the South china Sea summer monsoon(ScSSM)has been observed to follow a warm(cold)El Niño-Southern Oscillation(ENSO)event in winter,supporting high seasonal predictability of ScSSM ***,the empirical seasonal forecasting skill of the ScSSM onset,solely based on ENSO,has deteriorated since ***,unexpected delayed onsets of the ScSSM have also occurred in the past *** attribute these changes to the Northwest Indian Ocean(NwIO)warming of the sea *** NwIO warming has teleconnections related to(1)suppressing the seasonal convection over the South china Sea,which weakens the impacts of ENSO on ScSSM onset and delays the start of ScSSM,and(2)favoring more high-frequency,propagating moist convective activities,which enhances the uncertainty of the seasonal prediction of ScSSM onset *** results yield insight into the predictability of the ScSSM onset under the context of uneven ocean warming operating within the larger-scale background state of global climate change.

研究设计了一种基于MINIPAM荧光仪调制脉冲式荧光检测技术的LED阵列输出光强叶绿素荧光参数在线监控系统。该系统利用可编程电源为LED列阵提供恒流输出驱动,利用LED列阵作为激发叶绿素产生荧光的光化光,利用MINIPAM荧光仪对植物光系统II的稳态荧光Fs、光适应下最大荧光Fm'进行检测,并结合系统传感器对环境温度、光合有效辐射PAR等植物环境因子的测量,综合分析环境因素对实际量子效率ΦpsII等参数的影响。系统通过串口与上位机通信,上位机可利用DELPHI7语言编制的监控软件对植物光适应下的荧光参数进行实时在线监控。试验表明,与传统的试验方法相比该系统具有精度高、应用范围广等优点,是一种具有广泛应用前景的实时光合能力测量与控制仪器。

Microdialysis is a technique used to measure the unbound antibiotic concentration in the interstitial spaces, the target site of action. In vitro recovery studies are essential to calibrating the microdialysis system for in vivo studies. The effect of a combination of antibiotics on recovery into microdialysate requires investigation. In vitro microdialysis recovery studies were conducted on a combination of vancomycin and tobramycin, in a simulated in vivo model. comparison was made between recoveries for three different concentrations and three different perfusate flow rates. The overall relative recovery for vancomycin was lower than that of tobramycin. For tobramycin, a concentration of 20μg/mL and flow rate of 1.0μL/min had the best recovery. A concentration of 5.0μg/mL and flow rate of 1.0μL/min yielded maximal recovery for vancomycin. Large molecular size and higher protein binding resulted in lower relative recoveries for vancomycin. Perfusate flow rates and drug concentrations affected the relative recovery when a combination of vancomycin and tobramycin was tested. Low perfusate flow rates were associated with higher recovery rates. For combination antibiotic measurement which includes agents that are highly protein bound, in vitro studies performed prior to in vivo studies may ensure the reliable measurement of unbound concentrations.

Role of microbubble ultrasound contrast agents in the non-invasive assessment of chronic hepatitis c-related liver disease

Patients who are chronically infected with the hepatitis c virus often develop chronic liver disease and assessment of the severity of liver injury is required prior to considering viral eradication therapy. This article examines the various assessment methods currently available from gold standard liver biopsy to serological markers and imaging. Ultrasound is one of the most widely used imaging modalities in clinical practice and is already a first-line diagnostic tool for liver disease. Microbubble ultrasound contrast agents allow higher resolution images to be obtained and functional assessments of microvascular change to be carried out. The role of these agents in quantifying the state of hepatic injury is discussed as a viable method of determining the stage and grade of liver disease in patients with hepatitis c. Although currently confined to specialist centres, the availability of microbubble contrast-enhanced ultrasound will inevitably increase in the clinical setting.

Fast-neutron （FN） irradiation has been used to create mutagen- ized collections of many plant species （Bolon et al., 2014）, FN- induced mutagenesis has clear advantages： it is an efficient means of saturating the genome, and it does not involve time- consuming plant transformation or tissue culture. In rice, most mutant collections, although highly valuable, were generated us- ing either T-DNA insertion or transposon tagging approaches that often induce mutations unlinked to the insertion and complicating analysis （wang et al., 2013）. Another disadvantage of some of these collections is that they were created in rice varieties that are photoperiod-sensitive and often have long generation times.

world Kidney Day on March 8th 2012 provides a chance to reflect on the success of kidney transplantation as a therapy for end stage kidney disease that surpasses dialysis treatments both for the quality and quantity of life that it provides and for its cost *** that is both cheaper and better,but is not actually the dominant therapy,must have other drawbacks that prevent replacement of all dialysis treatment by *** barriers to universal transplantation as the therapy for end stage kidney disease include the economic limitations which,in some countries place transplantation,appropriately,at a lower priority than public health fundamentals such as clean water,sanitation and *** in high income countries the technical challenges of surgery and the consequences of immunosuppression restrict the number of suitable recipients,but the major finite restrictions on kidney transplantation rates are the shortage of donated organs and the limited medical,surgical and nursing workforces with the required *** problems have solutions which involve the full range of societal,professional,governmental and political *** Kidney Day is a call to deliver transplantation therapy to the one million people a year who have a right to benefit.
