BACKGROUND Collision tumors involving the small intestine,specifically the combination of a hamartomatous tumor and a lipoma,are extremely *** our knowledge,no previous case report has described a collision tumor composed of two benign tumors of different origins in the small *** SUMMARY Here,we present the case of an 82-year-old woman who presented with hemorrhagic shock and was found to have a mass measuring approximately 50 mm×32 mm×30 mm in the terminal *** on computed tomography scan findings,the mass was initially suspected to be a lipoma.A subsequent colonoscopy revealed a pedunculated submucosal elevation consisting of two distinct parts with a visible demarcation line.A biopsy of the upper portion suggested a juvenile polyp(JP).Owing to the patient’s advanced age,multiple comorbidities,and poor surgical tolerance,a modified endoscopic submucosal dissection was *** examination of the excised mucosal mass revealed a lipoma at the base and a JP at the top,demonstrating evidence of rupture and associated *** patient’s overall health remained satisfactory,with no recurrence of hematochezia during the six-month follow-up *** This case report provides new evidence for the understanding of gastrointestinal collision tumors,emphasizing their diverse clinical presentations and histopathological *** also offers diagnostic and therapeutic insights as well as an approach for managing benign collision tumors.

Exploration of metastable phases holds profound implications for functional ***,we engineer the metastable phase to enhance the thermo-electric performance of germanium selenide(GeSe)through tailoring the chemical bonding ***,AgInTe2 alloying fosters a transition from stable orthorhombic to metastable rhombohedral phase in GeSe by substantially promoting p-state electron bonding to form metavalent bonding(MVB).Besides,extra Pb is employed to prevent a transition into a stable hexagonal phase at elevated temperatures by moderately enhancing the degree of *** stabilization of the metastable rhombohedral phase generates an optimized bandgap,sharpened valence band edge,and stimulative band convergence compared to stable *** leads to decent carrier concentra-tion,improved carrier mobility,and enhanced density-of-state effective mass,culminating in a superior power ***,lattice thermal conductivity is suppressed by pronounced lattice anharmonicity,low sound velocity,and strong phonon scattering induced by multiple ***,a maximum zT of 1.0 at 773 K is achieved in(Ge_(0.98)Pb_(0.02)Se)_(0.875)(AgInTe_(2))_(0.125),resulting in a maximum energy conversion efficiency of 4.90%under the temperature difference of 500 *** work underscores the significance of regulating MVB to stabilize metastable phases in chalcogenides.

The learning curve for transurethral enucleation with bipolar energy for benign prostate hyperplasia:a single-surgeon experience of 494 patients

This study was performed to investigate the learning curve of transurethral enucleation with bipolar energy(TUEB)for benignprostatic *** study involved 494 consecutive patients who underwent TUEB for benign prostatic hyperplasia fromAugust 2018 to March 2022 by one surgeon(SJJ,Seoul National University Bundang Hospital,Seongnam,Korea).The patientswere followed up at 1 week,1 month,3 months,and 6 months *** evaluate the learning curve of TUEB,perioperativeparameters including the enucleation ratio(enucleated tissue weight/transitional zone volume),TUEB efficiency(enucleatedtissue weight/operation time),and enucleation efficiency(enucleated tissue weight/enucleation time)were *** and postoperative complications were also assessed,including the International Prostate Symptom Score(IPSS),IPSSquality-of-life(QoL)score,and uroflowmetry *** patients’median age was 72(interquartile range[IQR]:66–78)years,and the estimated prostate volume and transitional zone volume were 63.0(IQR:46.0–90.6)ml and 37.1(IQR:24.0–60.0)ml,*** enucleation ratio,TUEB efficiency,and enucleation efficiency were 0.60(IQR:0.46–0.54)g ml−1,0.33(IQR:0.22–0.46)g min−1,and 0.50(IQR:0.35–0.72)g min−1,respectively,plateauing after 70 *** functional outcomes,including total IPSS,IPSS QoL score,and uroflowmetry outcomes,significantly improved at 6 months after TUEB(all P<0.05),but without significant differences over the learning ***-five(13.2%)patients developed complications after TUEB,21.5%of whom experienced major complications(Clavien–Dindo grade≥3).The rate of major complications declined as the number ofTUEB cases increased(P=0.013).Our results suggest that the efficiency of TUEB stabilized within 70 procedures.
