AIM:To compare intraocular pressure(IOP)readings obtained with Perk.ns tonometry,i Care Home,i Care 200,and Tonopen to IOP readings obtained with the manometer of a perfusion system to assess the accuracy and reproducibility of each method of tonometry at set ***:The IOP of human cadaveric eyes(n=2)was measured using a manometer inserted into the eye through the optic *** measurements were obtained using a Perk.ns tonometer,i Care Home,i Care 200,and *** measurements were compared to set point IOP measurements of a manometer to determine accuracy and reproducibility of each ***:Mean IOP readings obtained with the Perk.ns tonometer compared to manometer readings demonstrated a difference of-1.0±5.0 mm Hg(P=0.45),indicating a lower reading on average than manometery although not *** IOP difference between iCare 200 and manometer was 5.3±2.2 mm Hg(Pk.ns tonometer demonstrated a standard deviation of 5.0 mm Hg while the Tonopen measurements demonstrated a 4.0 mm Hg standard *** comparison,iCare 200 and iCare Home demonstrated 2.2 and 2.4 mm Hg standard deviation,***:Applanation tonometry produces more accurate IOP readings than rebound tonometry or Tonopen,however it demonstrates greater variability than the other forms of *** tonometry is more reproducible but tends to over-estimate IOP.

Purpose: We aimed to examine the longitudinal associations between parents' and youth's participation in physical activity(PA).Methods-: One hundred and ninety youth cuompleted self-admitiistered questionnaires 3 times per year from 2011 to 2015, and their parents completed an interviewer-administered questionnaire during a telephone interview once in2011-2012. Data on youth's and parents' activities were classified as interdependent or coactive/***: Youth with one or both parents who participated in interdependent activities were more lik.ly to maintain participation in interdependent activities(hazard ratio(HR) = 3.63: 95% confidence interval(CI) = 1.30-10.17). Youth's sustained participation in coactive/independent activities was not associated with parents' participation in coactive/independent activities(HR= 0.97; 95%CI=0.46-2.06).Conclusion: Longitudinal associations between parents' and youth's participation in PA differed across type of PA. Encouraging parents' participation in interdependent activities may promote sustained participation in interdependent activities in youth.

A number of mechanisms are k.own to influence coexistence in small mammal communities. However, the role ofbehavioral interactions in promoting species coexistence is under-represented in the literature. We studied the behavioral interactionsof two coexisting small mammals, the Namaqua rock.mouse Micaelamys namaquensis (Rodentia) and the Rock.sengi Elephantulusmyurus (Macroscelidae), which have high dietary and microhabitat overlap. Using wild-caught individuals, intra- andinterspecific dyadic encounters were staged in tank. on a neutral rock. outcrop. Interspecific dyads displayed significantly moreactive avoidance behavior. There was no support for the prediction that the larger, more specialist species, E. myurus, is behaviorallydominant over M. namaquensis. Intraspecific encounters of E. myurus showed significantly more passive avoidance andamicable behavior, whereas the behavior of M. namaquensis did not differ between intra- and inter-specific encounters, both ofwhich were characterized by low levels of aggression and amicability. Thus, due to the lack.of aggression, direct competition appearsweak.and instead mutual avoidance may reduce or minimize interspecific interactions, potentially promoting coexistence.

This paper proposes a block.hain-based system as a secure, efficient, and cost-effective alternative to SWIFT for cross-border remittances. The current SWIFT system faces challenges, including slow settlement times, high transaction costs, and vulnerability to fraud. Leveraging block.hain technology’s decentralized, transparent, and immutable nature, the proposed system aims to address these limitations. k.y features include modular architecture, implementation of microservices, and advanced cryptographic protocols. The system incorporates Proof of Stak. consensus with BLS signatures, smart contract execution with dynamic pricing, and a decentralized oracle network.for currency conversion. A sophisticated risk.based authentication system utilizes Bayesian network. and machine learning for enhanced security. Mathematical models are presented for critical components, including transaction validation, currency conversion, and regulatory compliance. Simulations demonstrate potential improvements in transaction speed and costs. However, challenges such as regulatory hurdles, user adoption, scalability, and integration with legacy systems must be addressed. The paper provides a comparative analysis between the proposed block.hain system and SWIFT, highlighting advantages in transaction speed, costs, and security. Mitigation strategies are proposed for k.y challenges. Recommendations are made for further research into scaling solutions, regulatory framework., and user-centric designs. The adoption of block.hain-based remittances could significantly impact the financial sector, potentially disrupting traditional models and promoting financial inclusion in underserved mark.ts. However, successful implementation will require collaboration between block.hain innovators, financial institutions, and regulators to create an enabling environment for this transformative system.

Hybridization presents a unique challenge for conservation biologists and managers. While hybridization is an important evolutionary process, hybridization is also a threat formany native species. The endangered species recovery effort for the red wolf Canis rufus is a classic system for understanding and addressing the challenges of hybridization. From 1987-1993, 63 red wolves were released from captivity in eastern North Carolina, USA, to establish a free-ranging, non-essential experimental population. By 1999, managers recognized hybridization with invasive coyotes Canis latrans was the single greatest threat to successful recovery, and an adaptive management plan was adopted with innovative approaches for managing the threat of hybri- dization. Here we review the application and results of the adaptive management efforts from 1993 to 2013 by comparing：（1） the numbers of wolves, coyotes, and hybrids captured, （2） the numbers of territorial social groups with presumed breeding capabili- ties, （3） the number of red wolf and hybrid litters documented each year and （4） the degree of coyote introgression into the wild red wolf gene pool. We documented substantial increases in the number of k.own red wolves and red wolf social groups from 1987-2004 followed by a plateau and slight decline by *** number of red wolf litters exceeded hybrid litters each year and the proportion of hybrid litters per year averaged 21%. The genetic composition of the wild red wolf population is estimated to include 〈 4% coyote ancestry from recent introgression since reintroduction. We conclude that the adaptive management plan was effective at reducing the introgression of coyote genes into the red wolf population, but population recovery of red wolves will require continuation of the current management plan, or alternative approaches, for the foreseeable future.
