Use of Additive Based on Non-Timber Forest Products for the Ecological Stabilization of Raw Earth:Case of the Parkia Biglobosa Nut and Vitellaria Paradoxa

The housing sector today uses elaborate materials such as cement,iron,sand,often prohibitively expensive and whose production generates a strong environmental impact(scarcity of resources,transport,greenhouse gas greenhouse,etc.).In order to meet the challenges of sustainable development,earth construction is experiencing a resurgence of interest these *** its many advantages,raw earth material has drawbacks,in particular its low mechanical resistance and its loss of geometric characteristics in the face of water,which slow down its *** part of this study,the mechanical characteristics and durability of raw earth were improved by using residual water from the processing of Parkia Biglobosa(nere)and Vitellaria Paradoxa(shea)nuts in order to optimize its use for the construction of modern *** this end,the decoctions resulting from the artisanal transformation of the nut of the Parkia Biglobosa into African mustard and of the Vitellaria Paradoxa into shea butter were added to the raw earth according to volume proportions of 25%,50%,75%and 100%of the aqueous solution to obtain the projected ***,mechanical characterization and durability tests were carried out on the composites *** results revealed that the decoctions of Vitellaria Paradoxa and Parkia Biglobosa improve the compressive strength of the material by up to 90%and 260%,***,these decoctions improved the resistance to water penetration of the 100%additive composite by 1.5 times for Vitellaria Paradoxa and 5 times for Parkia *** study shows that it is possible to use decoctions as raw earth stabilizers to build modern,ecological buildings at lower energy ***,more in-depth studies on surface wettability and long-term durability are planned to better characterize the geomaterial.

The photovoltaic performance of perovskite solar cells(PSCs)can be improved by utilizing efficient front ***,it has always been a significant challenge for fabricating high-quality,scalable,controllable,and cost-effective front *** study proposes a realistic multi-layer front contact design to realize efficient single-junction PSCs and perovskite/perovskite tandem solar cells(TSCs).As a critical part of the front contact,we prepared a highly compact titanium oxide(TiO2)film by industrially viable Spray Pyrolysis Deposition(SPD),which acts as a potential electron transport layer(ETL)for the fabrication of *** and reproducibility of the TiO2 ETL were discreetly investigated while fabricating a set of planar *** the front contact has a significant influence on the optoelectronic properties of PSCs,hence,we investigated the optics and electrical effects of PSCs by three-dimensional(3D)finite-difference time-domain(FDTD)and finite element method(FEM)rigorous *** investigation allows us to compare experimental results with the outcome from ***,an optimized single-junction PSC is designed to enhance the energy conversion efficiency(ECE)by>30% compared to the planar reference ***,the study has been progressed to the realization of all-perovskite TSC that can reach the ECE,exceeding 30%.Detailed guidance for the completion of high-performance PSCs is provided.

Application of Neural Networks for Monitoring Mechanical Defects of Rotating Machines

Good monitoring of the deterioration in rotating machinery can result in reduced maintenance costs by minimizing the loss of production due to the number of machine breakdown and decreasing in the number of spare parts. In the present paper, a prognostic method based on recurrent neural networks is applied to forecast the rate of machine deterioration. Promising results have been obtained through the application of this method to the prediction of vibration based fault trends of an auxiliary gearbox of a power generation plant. This method evaluates also the seriousness of damage caused by faults.

Complex and distributed systems are more and more associated with the application of WSN (Wireless Sensor Network) technology. The design of such applications presents important challenges and requires the assistance of several methodologies and tools. Multi-Agent systems (MAS) have been identified as one of the most suitable technologies to contribute to this domain due to their appropriateness for modeling distributed and autonomous complex systems. This work aims to contribute in the help of the design of WSN applications. The proposed architecture exploits the advantages of MAS for modeling WSN services, network topologies and sensor device architectures.

Brain-lung crosstalk: Implications for neurocritical care patients

Major pulmonary disorders may occur after brain injuries as ventilator-associated pneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome or neurogenic pulmonary edema. They are key points for the management of brain-injured patients because respiratory failure and mechanical ventilation seem to be a risk factor for increased mortality, poor neurological outcome and longer intensive care unit or hospital length of stay. Brain and lung strongly interact via complex pathways from the brain to the lung but also from the lung to the brain. Several hypotheses have been proposed with a particular interest for the recently described "double hit" model. Ventilator setting in brain-injured patients with lung injuries has been poorly studied and intensivists are often fearful to use some parts of protective ventilation in patients with brain injury. This review aims to describe the epidemiology and pathophysiology of lung injuries in brain-injured patients, but also the impact of different modalities of mechanical ventilation on the brain in the context of acute brain injury.

Review of the development and uses of hard grade asphalts in France

Hard grade paving asphalts,i.e.,having a penetration at 25C lower than 25 mm/10,have experienced,in France,a significant development over the last forty years,linked to the development of high modulus asphalt concrete for rehabilitation then for new construction of road *** the first part,this paper provides a review of the evolution of asphalts in France over the past sixty years towards the use of harder penetration grades and a limitation of the evolution of the asphalt in the mixing plant to avoid early cracking of the *** recommendations in relation to climatic conditions are *** characteristics of different hard asphalts produced in France are presented including data on the effect of ageing tests rolling thin film oven test(RTFOT)and pressure ageing vessel(PAV).Hardening of hard asphalt after RTFOTþPAV is comparable to that of softer *** performance related to low temperature cracking is less which limits the use of plain hard asphalt in pavements subjected to severe winter conditions and requires polymer *** specifications for hard grade paving asphalts based on traditional empirical tests included in the European standard developed in the mid 2000s and the choices made in France are presented.A comparison of the specifications for hard grade paving asphalts in the European standards and of those proposed for China shows that the European specifications are more stringent as regards consistency and evolution after ageing tests.

Managing familial pancreatic cancer(FPC)is challenging for gastroenterologists,surgeons and ***-risk individuals(HRI)for pancreatic cancer(PC)(FPC or with germline mutations)are a heterogeneous group of subjects with a theoretical lifetime cumulative risk of PC over 5%.Screening is mainly based on annual magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)and endoscopic ultrasound(EUS).The goal of screening is to identify early-stage operable cancers or high-risk precancerous lesions(pancreatic intraepithelial neoplasia or intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms with high-grade dysplasia).In the literature,target lesions are identified in 2%-5%of HRI who undergo *** appears to provide better identification of small solid lesions(0%-46%of HRI)and chronicpancreatitis-like parenchymal changes(14%-77%of HRI),while MRI is probably the best modality to identify small cystic lesions(13%-49%of HRI).There are no specific studies in HRI on the use of contrast-enhanced harmonic *** can also be used to obtain tissue ***,there is still limited evidence on the accuracy of imaging procedures used for screening or agreement on which patients to *** cost-effectiveness of screening is also *** new EUS-related techniques,such as searching for DNA abnormalities or protein markers in pancreatic fluid,appear to be promising.

The Cemented Material Dam： A New, Environmentally Friendly Type of Dam

The first author proposed the concept of the cemented material dam （CMD） in 2009. This concept was aimed at building an environmentally friendly dam in a safer and more economical way for both the dam and the area downstream. The concept covers the cemented sand, gravel, and rock dam （CSGRD）, the rockfill concrete （RFC） dam （or the cemented rockfill dam, CRD）, and the cemented soil dam （CSD）. This paper summarizes the concept and principles of the CMD based on studies and practices in projects around the world. It also introduces new developments in the CSGRD, CRD, and CSD.

International Healthcare Terminologies for Morbidity New Era: SNOMED and ICD11

The Information Technology (IT) developments have changed the use of Healthcare terminologies from paper-based mortality statistics with the WHO international classifications of diseases (ICD) to the IT-based morbidity implementations for instance for Casemix-based healthcare funding and managing systems. This higher level of granularity is worldwide spread under the umbrella of several national modifications named ICD10 XM. These developments have met the increased use of the International Clinical Reference Terminology named SNOMED. When the updating of WHO ICD10 to WHO ICD11 was decided a merging was envisaged and a WHO SNOMED CT common work proposed a methodology to create a common formal ontology between the 11th version of the WHO International Classification of Diseases and Health Problems (ICD) and the most used in the world clinical terminology named Systematized Nomenclature of Human and Veterinary Medicine - Clinical Terms (SCT). The present work follows this unachieved work and aims to develop a SNOMED-based formal ontology for ICD11 chapter 1 using the textual definitions of ICD11 codes which is a completely new character of ICD and the ontology tools provided by SCT in the publicly available SNOMED Browser. There are two key results: the lexical alignment is complete and the ontology alignment is incomplete with the validated SNOMED concept model can be completed with not yet validated attributes and values of the SNOMED Compositional Grammar. The work opens a new era for the seamless use of both international terminologies for morbidity for instance for DRG/Casemix and clinical management use. The main limitation is that it is restricted to 1 out of 26 chapters of ICD11.

A Web-Based Cardiovascular Risk Assessment via Pharmacists: A Feasibility and Validation Study

Background: Involving pharmacists in clinical care could improve the identification of subjects at risk for cardiovascular (CV) disease. Data on web-based approach involving pharmacists for CV disease risk assessment are very limited. Methods: We first developed a web-based CV risk assessment tool to be used by pharmacists that includes demographic, lifestyle, biological and anthropometric information. Biological and anthropometric data were collected in independent laboratories. We then assessed the feasibility and validity of this approach by inviting adults who previously (within 6 months) participated in a Swiss standardized population-based study to fill out the web-based platform. Attrition rates and correlations were used to assess the feasibility and validity, respectively. Proportions were expressed as percentages and continuous variables were expressed as means ± standard deviations (SD). Main Outcomes Measure: Proportions of participants who 1) agreed to participate;2) filled out the questionnaire and had their biological and anthropometric measures taken;3) only filled out the questionnaire;and 4) only had their biological and anthropometric measures taken. Correlations were used to compare continuous variables (body mass index [BMI], waist circumference, systolic blood pressure, fasting blood glucose, total plasma cholesterol, HDL plasma cholesterol, LDL plasma cholesterol, triglycerides) collected via both studies. Results: Overall, 218 (53.2% women) adults of the population-based study were eligible and were contacted to participate, from April to November 2013. Of these, 140 (64.2%) agreed to participate. The majority (67/140, 47.8%) both filled out the questionnaire and had their biological/anthropometric measures taken, whereas only 2.8% and 7.1% only filled out the questionnaire or only had their biological measures taken, respectively.
