Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC)is an aggressive tumor with high *** with surgery,radiotherapy,chemotherapy,and other locoregional or systemic therapies,the survival rates for PDAC are low and have not significantly changed in the past *** special characteristics of the PDAC’s microenvironment and its complex immune escape mechanism need to be considered when designing novel therapeutic approaches in this *** is characterized by chronic inflammation with a high rate of tumor-associated macrophages and myeloid-derived suppressor cells and a low rate of natural killer and effector T *** pancreatic microenvironment is a fibrotic,microvascularized stroma that isolates the tumor from systemic ***,a novel approach that has demonstrated effectiveness in certain solid tumors,has failed to show any practice-changing results in pancreatic cancer,with the exception of PDACs with mismatch repair deficiency and high tumor mutational burden,which show prolonged survival rates with ***,numerous clinical trials are attempting to assess the efficacy of immunotherapeutic strategies in PDAC,including immune checkpoint inhibitors,cancer vaccines,and adoptive cell transfer,alone or in combination with other immunotherapeutic agents,chemoradiotherapy,and other targeted therapies.A deep understanding of the immune response will help in the development of new therapeutic strategies leading to improved clinical outcomes for patients with PDAC.

This project describes an integral solution to implement a module-based platform for the control of all the automated systems inside a house and a remote control of the entrance access to this house. A biometrical access based on the hand veins has been used with a complete local and remote access control system. A technologically ergonomic way to control the house, as well as some biological signal monitoring has also been developed. This has been done by knowing the physical restrictions of the collective who will live in the house. A set of different sensors will control this operation. In order to control all the home automated systems coordinate the whole platform using the TV remote. This project will implement the OSGI standard. This implementation should ensure the system scalability in terms of including new hardware. In addition, a ZibBee networking system has been developed to enable communication between all the sensors, systems and the central processor.

Parabolic through concentrators and parabolic dish concentrators followed by a PVR （pressurized volumetric receiver） are proposed, studying the performance behavior of a RCBC （regenerative closed Brayton cycle） operating with helium or hydrogen. A pressurized gas such as helium circulates along the volumetric receiver, capturing the concentrated thermal solar energy to be further converted into electric power via a thermal cycle. The overall efficiency of the plant has been computed under variable parameters to determine the operating conditions for which efficiency and specific power are acceptable. As consequence of the proposed analysis, it is concluded that direct coupling between volumetric receivers and thermal engines renders high efficiency while avoiding an intermediate heat transfer medium.

The interplay between free electrons,light,and matter offers unique prospects for space,time,and energy resolved optical material characterization,structured light generation,and quantum information ***,we study the nanoscale features of spontaneous and stimulated electron–photon interactions mediated by localized surface plasmon resonances at the tips of a gold nanostar using electron energy-loss spectroscopy(EELS),cathodoluminescence spectroscopy(CL),and photon-induced near-field electron microscopy(PINEM).Supported by numerical electromagnetic boundary-element method(BEM)calculations,we show that the different coupling mechanisms probed by EELS,CL,and PINEM feature the same spatial dependence on the electric field distribution of the tip ***,the electron–photon interaction strength is found to vary with the incident electron velocity,as determined by the spatial Fourier transform of the electric near-field component parallel to the electron *** the tightly confined plasmonic tip resonances,our calculations suggest an optimum coupling velocity at electron energies as low as a few *** results are discussed in the context of more complex geometries supporting multiple modes with spatial and spectral *** provide fundamental insights into spontaneous and stimulated electron-light-matter interactions with key implications for research on(quantum)coherent optical phenomena at the nanoscale.

Background:This study is aimed at describing the prevalence of and risk factors associated with early post-operative complications after Crohn’s disease-related intestinal ***:This was a retrospective analysis of data from the PRACTICROHN *** Crohn’s disease patients who underwent ileocolonic resection with ileocolonic anastomosis between January 2007 and december 2010 were *** complications evaluated included death,ileus,anastomotic leak,abscess,wound infection,catheter-related infection,digestive bleeding and other extra-abdominal infections that occurred in the 30 days after ***:A total of 364 patients(median age at surgery 38 years and 50%men)were *** for surgery was:stricturing disease(46.4%),penetrating disease(31.3%),penetrating and stricturing disease(14.0%)or resistance to medical treatment(5.8%).Early complications were recorded in 100(27.5%)patients,with wound infection,intra-abdominal abscess and anastomotic leakage being the most frequent *** hospitalization duration was 16 days for patients with complications vs.9 days without complications(Pde at the time of surgery(15/31,48.4%)compared with the rest(85/331,25.7%)(P=0.013).Medication received at the time of surgery did not affect the rate of ***:Almost a quarter of patients developed early complications after intestinal *** disease and urgent surgery were associated with an increased risk of complications.

Does Computer Navigation Improve the Results of MIS Technique in Total Knee Arthroplasty?

The Minimal Invasive Surgery (MIS) technique used for knee arthroplasty implantation implies a less aggressive surgery and reduces the aesthetic impact. Its most notable disadvantage is the poor visualization of bone structures, which may lead to alterations in the correct placement of the prosthetic components. Navigation-assisted surgery may help avoid such mistakes, and thus navigation coupled with the MIS technique may be an alternative for the future. This is a prospective randomized study of 50 patients who received a total knee arthroplasty. In 25 cases the MIS technique was used, whereas in the other 25 navigation was also employed. Mean age of the patients was 71.63 years, and the mean body mass index was 31.19. Results were assessed based on the definitive radiographic position of the femoral, tibial, and limb axis prosthetic components, as well as according to the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), the Knee Society Score (KSS), Western Ontarioand McMaster Universities Arthritis Index (WOMAC), Short Form version 12 (SF-12) questionnaires, and the “up-and-go” test. Differences were found between both groups for duration of the procedure (p = 0.0005). No differences were found in the need for analgesics, amount of drained blood, or mean stay time. There were differences regarding the best radiographic position of the tibial component in the navigation group, but not in the final mechanical axis of the limb, even though out-of-range cases were more abundant in the standard-MIS group. At one year after surgery, clinical, functional and quality of life outcomes were similar in both groups. The combined use of surgical navigation and the MIS technique does not yield advantages in terms of limb alignment nor clinical results at one year after surgery.

This research paper presents the infrequent case of a heterotopic pregnancy based on a tubal ectopic pregnancy with molar degeneration in concurrent eutopic pregnancy. Treatment with evacuation/suction curettage and perlaparoscopic salpingectomy was required. This case report confirms what is biologically valid in the statistically unlikely.
