Methionine sources and genotype affect embryonic intestinal development, antioxidants, tight junctions, and growth-related gene expression in chickens

Methionine(Met) is an essential and first limiting amino acid in the poultry diet that plays a significant role in chicken embryonic development and growth. The present study examined the effect of in ovo injection of DL-Met and L-Met sources and genotypes on chicken embryonic-intestinal development and health. Fertilized eggs of the two genotypes, TETRA-SL layer hybrid(TSL)—commercial layer hybrid and Hungarian Partridge colored hen breed(HPC)—a native genotype, were randomly distributed into four treatments for each genotype. The treatment groups include the following: 1) control non-injected eggs(NoIn); 2) saline-injected(SaIn); 3) DL-Met injected(DLM); and 4) L-Met injected(LM). The in ovo injection was carried out on 17.5 d of embryonic development; after hatching, eight chicks per group were sacrificed, and the jejunum was extracted for analysis. The results showed that both DLM and LM groups had enhanced intestinal development as evidenced by increased villus width, villus height, and villus area(P ke growth factor 1(IGF1) gene, tricellulin(md2), occludin(OCLN),superoxide dismutase 1(SOD1), and GST3 genes than the TSL genotype(P < 0.05). In conclusion, these findings showed that in ovo injection of Met enhanced intestinal development, and function, with genotypes responding differently under normal conditions. Genotypes also influenced the expression of intestinal antioxidants, tight junction, and growth-related genes.

Cereal is an essential source of calories and protein for the global *** predicting cereal quality before harvest is highly desirable in order to optimise management for farmers,grading harvest and categorised storage for enterprises,future trading prices,and policy *** use of remote sensing data with extensive spatial coverage demonstrates some potential in predicting crop quality *** studies have also proposed models and methods for predicting such traits based on multiplatform remote sensing *** this paper,the key quality traits that are of interest to producers and consumers are *** literature related to grain quality prediction was analyzed in detail,and a review was conducted on remote sensing platforms,commonly used methods,potential gaps,and future trends in crop quality *** review recommends new research directions that go beyond the traditional methods and discusses grain quality retrieval and the associated challenges from the perspective of remote sensing data.

Magnitude of modulation of gene expression in aneuploid maize depends on the extent of genomic imbalance

Aneuploidy has profound effects on an organism,typically more so than polyploidy,and the basis of this contrast is not fully understood.A dosage series of the maize long arm of chromosome 1(1L)was used to compa re relative global gene expression in diffe rent types and degrees of aneuploidy to gain insights into how the magnitude of genomic imbalance as well as hypoploidy affects global gene *** previously available methods require a selective examination of specific genes,RNA sequencing provides a whole-genome view of gene expression in *** studies of global aneuploidy effects have concentrated on individual types of aneuploids because multiple dose aneuploidies of the same genomic region are difficult to produce in most model genetic *** genetic toolkit of maize allows the examination of multiple ploidies and 1-4 doses of chromosome ***,a detailed examination of expression changes both on the varied chromosome arms and elsewhere in the genome is possible,in both hypoploids and hyperploids,compared with euploid *** studies observed the inverse trans effect,in which genes not varied in DNA dosage were expressed in a negative relationship to the varied chromosomal *** response was also the major type of changes found globally in this *** genes varied in dosage showed proportional expression changes,though some were seen to be partly or fully dosage *** was also found that the effects of aneuploidy were progressive,with more severe aneuploids producing effects of greater magnitude.

In the past decade,advances in coronary computed tomography angiography(CTA)technology have resulted in high sensitivity and negative predictive value in detecting coronary artery disease(CAD)compared with invasive coronary angiography,particularly for patients with mild or severe ***,anatomical evaluation of CAD by CTA has modest specifi city for patients with intermediate-grade *** recent development of the use of cardiac computed tomography– derived fractional fl ow reserve(FFR-CT)seeks to address this gap as a proposed method of functional assessment of CAD by *** this article we aim to mix common clinical cases with the current technical methods,validation,outcomes,and registry studies as well as the technical,fi nancial and research limitations of FFRCT analysis to guide the cardiac imaging specialist in evaluating this ***-CT analysis may help reduce additive functional testing for the smaller proportion of patients with intermediate stenosis undergoing coronary CTA where the atherosclerosis signifi cance is uncertain.

Profiling of Serum Immunoglobulins in Bangladeshi Major Depressive Disorder Patients

Background: Major Depressive Disorder (mdD) is a mental disorder characterized by a pervasive and persistent low mood which is accompanied by low self-esteem and loss of interest or pleasure in day to day activities that adversely affects a person’s family, work, and personal life. There is no sufficient laboratory test for the diagnosis of mdD and it is expected that this investigation may be helpful for better diagnosis and management of mdD. We aimed to measure serum immunoglobulin levels in mdD patients and control subjects to meet the above demand. Methods: For this purpose, we recruited 88 mdD patients from the department of psychiatry, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Dhaka and 89 healthy volunteers from Dhaka city matched with age, sex and socioeconomic status to the patient group. Turbidimetry method was applied to measure serum levels of immunoglobulin A, G, and M where immunoglobulin kit was utilized. Results: The current study revealed that mean serum concentrations of immunoglobulin A, G, and M in patients were found to be 209.07 ± 104.93, 791.50 ± 235.67 and 107.92 ± 47.53 mg/dL while those were 195.34 ± 92.16, 763.81 ± 175.89 and 99.17 ± 48.78 mg/dL in control subjects, respectively. Conclusion: Our result indicates that serum concentrations of immunoglobulin A, G and M were not significant between the groups and further studies are required to establish these findings.

Autologous bone marrow concentrate(BMC)and mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)have beneficial effects on the healing of bone *** address the shortcomings associated with the use of primary MSCs,induced pluripotent stem cell(iPSC)-derived MSCs(iMSCs)have been proposed as an *** aim of this study was to investigate the bone regeneration potential of human iMSCs combined with calcium phosphate granules(CPG)in critical-size defects in the proximal tibias of mini-pigs in the early phase of bone healing compared to that of a previously reported autograft treatment and treatment with a composite made of either a combination of autologous BMC and CPG or CPG *** were derived from iPSCs originating from human fetal foreskin fibroblasts(HFFs).They were able to differentiate into osteoblasts in vitro,express a plethora of bone morphogenic proteins(BMPs)and secrete paracrine signaling-associated cytokines such as PDGF-AA and *** and histomorphometrically,HFF-iMSC+CPG transplantation resulted in significantly better osseous consolidation than the transplantation of CPG alone and produced no significantly different outcomes compared to the transplantation of autologous BMC+CPG after 6 *** results of this translational study imply that iMSCs represent a valuable future treatment option for load-bearing bone defects in humans.
