Meteorite impact craters as hotspots for mineral resources and energy fuels:A global review

The ever-increasing recovery rate of natural resources from terrestrial impact craters over the last fewdecades across the globe offers new avenues for further exploration of mineral and hydrocarbon resources in such *** of today,60 of the 208 terrestrial craters have been identified to host diverseresources such as hydrocarbons,metals and construction *** potential of craters as plausibleresource contributors to the energy sector is therefore,worthy of consideration,as 42(70%)of the 60craters host energy resources such as oil,gas,coal,uranium,mercury,critical and major minerals as wellas hydropower *** others,19 craters are of well-developed hydrocarbon *** associated with craters are also classified similar to other mineral resources such as progenetic,syngenetic and epigenetic *** these,the progenetic and syngenetic mineralization are confinedto the early and late excavation stage of impact crater evolution,respectively,whereas epigenetic deposits are formed during and after the modification stage of crater ***,progenetic andsyngenetic mineral deposits(like Fe,ni,Pb,Zn and Cu)associated with craters are formed as a directresult of the impact event,whereas epigenetic deposits(***)are hosted by the impactstructure and result from post-impact *** the progenetic and syngenetic deposits,the shockwave induced fracturing and melting aid the formation of deposits,whereas in the epigenetic deposits,the highly fractured lithostratigraphic units of higher porosity and permeability,like the centralelevated area(CEA)or the rim,act as *** this review,we provide a holistic view of the mineral andenergy resources associated with impact craters,and use some of the remote sensing techniques toidentify the mineral deposits as supplemented by a schematic model of the types of deposits formedduring cratering process.

Habitable Trinity

Habitable Trinity is a newly proposed concept of a habitable environment. This concept indicates that the coexistence of an atmosphere （consisting largely of C and n）, an ocean （H and 0）, and a landmass （supplier of nutrients） accompanying continuous material circulation between these three components driven by the Sun is one of the minimum requirements for life to emerge and evolve. The life body consists of C, O, H, n and other various nutrients, and therefore, the presence of water, only, is not a sufficient condition. Habitable Trinity environment must he maintained to supply necessary components for life body. Our Habitable Trinity concept can also be applied to other planets and moons such as Mars, Europa, Titan, and even exoplanets as a useful index in the quest for life-containing planetary bodies.

Emergent reintubation following elective cervical surgery:A case series

AIM To review cases of emergent reintubation after cervical *** Patients who were emergently intubated in the postoperative period following cervical surgery were identified. The patients' prospectively documented demographic parameters, medical history and clinical symptoms were ascertained. Pre-operative radiographs were examined for the extent of their pathology. The details of the operative procedure were *** Eight hundred and eighty patients received anterioror combined anterior-posterior cervical surgery from 2008-2013. nine patients(1.02%) required emergent reintubation. The interval between extubation to reintubation was 6.2 h [1-12]. Patients were kept intubated after reintubation for 2.3 d [2-3]. Seven patients displayed moderate postoperative edema. One patient was diagnosed with a compressive hematoma whichwas subsequently evacuated in the OR. Another patient was diagnosed with a pulmonary effusion and treated with diuretics. One patient received a late debridement for an infected hematoma. Six patients reported residual symptoms and three patients made a complete recovery. COnCLUSIOn Respiratory compromise is a rare but potentially life threatening complication following cervical surgery. Patients at increased risk should be monitored closely for extended periods of time post-operatively. If the airway is restored adequately in a timely manner through emergent re-intubation, the outcome of the patients is generally favorable.

Double negative T cells,a potential biomarker for systemic lupus erythematosus

Systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE)is an autoimmune disease that is a challenge to diagnose and *** is an urgent need for biomarkers to help define organ involvement,and more effective therapies.A unique population of T cells,the CD3^(+)CD4^(−)CD8^(−)(Dneg)cells,is significantly increased in lupus *** cases(53%)of pediatric SLE patients had elevated Dneg cells in their peripheral blood,which correlated with kidney function(R^(2)=0.54).Significant infiltration of Dneg cells was observed in both adult and pediatric lupus kidneys by *** the first time,this study provides direct evidence that Dneg cells facilitate kidney injury in preclinical 8-week-old MRL/lpr lupus *** lupus mice,the increase in Dneg cells tracked with worsening disease and correlated with kidney function(R^(2)=0.85).Our results show that Dneg cells per se can cause kidney dysfunction,increase in number with increase in disease pathology,and could serve as a potential biomarker.

Two interesting sequences arose in the study of the series expansions of the complete elliptic integrals,which are called the Catalan-Larcombe-French sequence{Pn}n≥0 and the Fennessey-Larcombe-French sequence{Vn}n≥0 *** this paper,we first establish some criteria for determining log-behavior of a sequence based on its three-term *** we prove the log-convexity of{Vn^2-V(n-1)V(n+1)}n≥2 and{n!Vn}n≥1,the ratio log-concavity of{Pn}n≥0 and the sequence{An}n≥0 of Apéry numbers,and the ratio log-convexity of{Vn}n≥1.

A Scalable Testing Framework for Location-Based Services

A novel testing framework for location based services is introduced. In particular, the paper showcases a novel architecture for such a framework. The implementation of the framework illustrates both the functionality and the feasibility of the framework proposed and the utility of the architecture. The new framework is evaluated through comparison to several other methodologies currently available for the testing of location-based applications. A case study is presented in which the testing framework was applied to a typical mobile service tracking system. It is concluded that the proposed testing framework achieves the best coverage of the entire location based service testing problem of the currently available methodologies; being equipped to test the widest array of application attributes and allowing for the automation of testing activities.

An Efficient Algorithm for Discovering Co-occurrence Concepts Through Pathfinder Paradigm

The Pathfinder paradigm has been used in generating and analyzing graph models that support clustering similar concepts and minimum-cost paths to provide an associative network structure within a domain. The co-occurrence pathfinder network （ CPFn ） extends the traditional pathfinder paradigm so that co-occurring concepts can be calculated at each sampling time. Existing algorithms take O（n（s）） time to calculate the pathfinder network （PFn） at each sampling time for a non-completed input graph of a CPFn （r = ∞, q = n - 1）, where n is the number of nodes in the input graph, r is the Minkowski exponent and q is the maximum number of links considered in finding a minimum cost path between vertices. To reduce the complexity of calculating the CPFn, we propose a greedy based algorithm, MEC（G） algorithm, which takes shortcuts to avoid unnecessary steps in the existing algorithms, to correctly calculate a CPFn （r = ∞, q= n - 1） in O（klogk） time where k is the number of edges of the input graph. Our example demonstrates the efficiency and correctness of the proposed MEC（G） algorithm, confirming our mathematic analysis on this algorithm.

Eutrophication is the most widespread water quality issue *** date,most efforts to control eutrophication have focused on reductions of external nutrient inputs,yet importance of nutrient stoichiometry and subsequent shift in plankton composition in aquatic ecosystem has been largely *** address eutrophication,improved sanitation is one of the United nations Sustainable Development Goals,spurring the constructions of wastewater treatment facilities that have improved water quality in many lakes and ***,control measures are often targeted at and effective in removing a single nutrient from sewage and thus are less effective in removing the others,resulting in the changes of nutrient *** general,more effective phosphorus removal relative to nitrogen has occurred in wastewater treatment leading to substantial increases in n/P ratios in effluent relative to the ***,high n/P ratios in receiving waters can impose negative influences on ***,longterm strategies for domestic wastewater management should not merely focus on the total reduction of nutrient discharge but also consider their stoichiometric balances in receiving waters.
