Introducing Ni in Ru oxide is a promising approach to enhance the catalytic activity for the oxygen evolution reaction(OER).However,the role of Ni(which has a poor intrinsic activity)is not fully ***,a Ru NiO_(x)electrode fabricated via a modified dip coating method exhibited excellent OER performance in acidic media,and neutral media for CO_(2)reduction *** combined in-situ/operando X-ray absorption near-edge structure and on-line inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry studies to unveil the role of the Ni introduced in the Ru *** propose that the Ni not only transforms the electronic structure of the Ru oxide,but also produces a large number of oxygen vacancies by distorting the oxygen lattice structure at low overpotentials,increasing the participation of lattice oxygen for *** work demonstrates the real behavior of bimetallic oxide materials under applied potentials and provides new insights into the development of efficient electrocatalysts.

Background： Primordial germ cells（PGCs）, the precursors of functional gametes, have distinct characteristics and exhibit several unique molecular mechanisms to maintain pluripotency and germness in comparison to somatic cells. They express germ cel-specific RNA binding proteins（RBPs） by modulating tissue-specific cis-and trans-regulatory elements. Studies on gene structures of chicken vasa homologue（CVH）, a chicken RNA binding protein, involved in temporal and spatial regulation are thus important not only for understanding the molecular mechanisms that regulate germ cel fate, but also for practical applications of primordial germ cells. However, very limited studies are available on regulatory elements that control germ cel-specific expression in chicken. Therefore, we investigated the intricate regulatory mechanism（s） that governs transcriptional control of ***： We constructed green fluorescence protein（GFP） or luciferase reporter vectors containing the various 5′ flanking regions of CVH gene. From the 5′ deletion and fragmented assays in chicken PGCs, we have identified a CVH promoter that locates at-316 to ＋275 base pair fragment with the highest luciferase activity. Additional y, we confirmed for the first time that the 5′ untranslated region（UTR） containing intron 1 is required for promoter activity of the CVH gene in chicken PGCs. Furthermore, using a transcription factor binding prediction, transcriptome analysis and siR NA-mediated knockdown,we have identified that a set of transcription factors play a role in the PGC-specific CVH gene ***： These results demonstrate that cis-elements and transcription factors localizing in the 5′ flanking region including the 5′ UTR and an intron are important for transcriptional regulation of the CVH gene in chicken PGCs. Despite numerous efforts to overcome neuropathic pain,various pharmacological drugs often fail to meet the needs and have many side *** is an aluminosilicate mineral that has been reported to have an anti-inflammatory effect,but the efficacy of muscovite for neuropathic pain has not been ***,we assessed whether muscovite nanoparticles can reduce the symptoms of pain by controlling the inflammatory process observed in neuropathic *** analgesic effects of muscovite nanoparticles were explored using partial sciatic nerve ligation model of neuropathic pain,in which one-third to onehalf of the nerve trifurcation of the sciatic nerve was tightly tied to the dorsal *** nanoparticles(4 mg/100μL)was given intramuscularly to evaluate its effects on neuropathic pain(3 days per week for 4 weeks).The results showed that the muscovite nanoparticle injections significantly alleviated partial sciatic nerve ligation-induced mechanical and cold *** the spinal cord,the muscovite nanoparticle injections exhibited inhibitory effects on astrocyte and microglia activation and reduced the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines,such as interleukin-1β,tumor necrosis factor-α,interleiukin-6 and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1,which were upregulated in the partial sciatic nerve ligation ***,the muscovite nanoparticle injections resulted in a decrease in activating transcription factor 3,a neuronal injury marker,in the sciatic *** results suggest that the analgesic effects of muscovite nanoparticle on partial sciatic nerve ligation-induced neuropathic pain may result from inhibiting activation of astrocytes and microglia as well as pro-inflammatory *** propose that muscovite nanoparticle is a potential anti-nociceptive candidate for neuropathic *** experimental protocols in this study were approved by the Institutional Animal Ethics Committee(IACUC)at Dongguk University,South Korea(approval No.2017-022-1)

Double layered self-expanding metal stents for malignant esophageal obstruction, especially across the gastroesophageal junction

AIM: To evaluate the clinical outcomes of double-layered self-expanding metal stents (SEMS) for treatment of malignant esophageal obstruction according to whether SEMS crosses the gastroesophageal junction (GEJ). METHODS: Forty eight patients who underwent the SEMS insertion for malignant esophageal obstruction were enrolled. Patients were classified as GEJ group (SEMS across GEJ, 18 patients) and non-GEJ group (SEMS above GEJ, 30 patients) according to SEMS position. Double layered (outer uncovered and inner covered stent) esophageal stents were placed. RESULTS: The SEMS insertion and the clinical improvement were achieved in all patients in both groups. Stent malfunction occurred in seven patients in the GEJ group and nine patients in the non-GEJ group. Tumor overgrowth occurred in five and eight patients, respectively, food impaction occurred in one patient in each group, and stent migration occurred in one and no patient, respectively. There were no significant differences between the two groups. Reflux esophagitis occurred more frequently in the GEJ group (eight vs five patients, P = 0.036) and was controlled by proton pump inhibitor. Aspiration pneumonia occurred in zero and five patients, respectively, and tracheoesophageal fistula occurred in zero and two patients, respectively. CONCLUSION: Double-layered SEMS are a feasible and effective treatment when placed across the GEJ for malignant esophageal obstruction. Double-layered SEMS provide acceptable complications, especially migration, although reflux esophagitis is more common in the GEJ group.
