GPU Usage Time-Based Ordering Management Technique for Tasks Execution to Prevent Running Failures of GPU Tasks in Container Environments

In a cloud environment,graphics processing units(GPUs)are the primary devices used for high-performance *** exploit flexible resource utilization,a key advantage of cloud *** users share GPUs,which serve as coprocessors of central processing units(CPUs)and are activated only if tasks demand GPU *** a container environment,where resources can be shared among multiple users,GPU utilization can be increased by minimizing idle time because the tasks of many users run on a single ***,unlike CPUs and memory,GPUs cannot logically multiplex their ***,GPU memory does not support over-utilization:when it runs out,tasks will ***,it is necessary to regulate the order of execution of concurrently running GPU tasks to avoid such task failures and to ensure equitable GPU sharing among *** this paper,we propose a GPU task execution order management technique that controls GPU usage via time-based *** technique seeks to ensure equal GPU time among users in a container environment to prevent task *** the meantime,we use a deferred processing method to prevent GPU memory shortages when GPU tasks are executed simultaneously and to determine the execution order based on the GPU usage *** the order of GPU tasks cannot be externally adjusted arbitrarily once the task commences,the GPU task is indirectly paused by pausing the *** addition,as container pause/unpause status is based on the information about the available GPU memory capacity,overuse of GPU memory can be prevented at the *** a result,the strategy can prevent task failure and the GPU tasks can be experimentally processed in appropriate order.

Diffractive multifocal intraocular lens implantation in patients with monofocal intraocular lens in the contralateral eye

AIM:To evaluate clinical outcomes of unilateral implantation of a diffractive multifocal intraocular lens(IOL)in patients with contralateral monofocal ***:Twenty-two patients who already had implantation of a monofocal IOL in unilateral eye underwent implantation of a diffractive multifocal IOL in contralateral eye were *** 1,6,and 12 mo,uncorrected and distant corrected distant visual acuity(UCDVA and DCDVA),uncorrected and distant corrected intermediate-visual acuity(UCIVA and DCIVA),uncorrected and distant corrected near visual acuity(UCNVA and DCNVA),and contrast sensitivity were ***/glare symptoms,spectacle dependence,and patient satisfaction were also ***:The mean age was 67.86±7.25 y and the average interval between two IOL implantations was 645.82±878.44 *** 1 mo,binocular UCDVA was lower than 0.20 logMAR in 76%of patients(mean 0.12±0.13 logMAR),which increased to 90%by 6 and 12 *** binocular UCDVA was significantly better than the monocular results(P<0.05)at 1,6,and 12 ***,UCNVA was lower than 0.40 logMAR in 82%of patients,increasing to 90%by 6 and 12 *** UCNVA in the multifocal IOL implanted eye was statistically significantly better than that in the monofocal IOL implanted eye(P<0.05)at 1,6,and 12 *** 5%of patients at 1 and 6 mo,reported"severe glare or halo".Patient satisfaction rates were 95%and 91%at 6 and 12 mo,***:Unilateral implantation of multifocal IOL in patients with a contralateral,monofocal IOL implantation results in high patient satisfaction rate,with low severe glare or halo rate during *** can represent a good option for patients who have previously had a monofocal IOL implantation regardless of two year interval duration between two IOL implantations.

Wrinkle-free graphene with spatially uniform electrical properties grown on hot-pressed copper

The chemical vapor deposition （CVD） of graphene on Cu substrates enables the fabrication of large-area monolayer graphene on desired substrates. However, during the transfer of the synthesized graphene, topographic defects are unavoidably formed along the Cu grain boundaries, degrading the electrical properties of graphene and increasing the device-to-device variability. Here, we introduce a method of hot-pressing as a surface pre-treatment to improve the thermal stability of Cu thin film for the suppression of grain boundary grooving. The flattened Cu thin film maintains its smooth surface even after the subsequent high temperature CVD process necessary for graphene growth, and the formation of graphene without wrinkles is realized. Graphene field effect transistors （FETs） fabricated using the graphene synthesized on hot-pressed Cu thin film exhibit superior field effect mobility and significantly reduced device-to-device variation.

Development of a skill assessment tool for the Korea operational oceanographic system

A standard skill assessment （SA） tool was developed and implemented to evaluate the performance of op- erational forecast models in the Korea operational oceanographic system. The SA tool provided a robust way to assess model skill in the system by comparing predictions and observations, and involved the com- putation of multiple skill metrics including correlation and error skills. User- and system-based acceptance criteria of skill metrics were applied to determine whether predictions were acceptable for the system. To achieve this, the tool produced a time series comparison plot, a skill score table, and an advanced sum- marized diagram to effectively demonstrate the multiple skill scores. Moreover, the SA was conducted to evaluate both atmospheric and hydrodynamic forecast variables. For the atmospheric variables, acceptable error criteria were preferable to acceptable correlation criteria over short timescales, since the mean square error overwhelmed the observation variance. Conversely, for the hydrodynamic variables, acceptable root mean square percentage error （e.g., perms） criteria were preferable to acceptable error （e.g., erms） criteria owing to the spatially variable tidal intensity around the Korean Peninsula. Furthermore, the SA indicated that predetermined acceptance error criteria were appropriate to satisfy a target central frequency （fc） for which errors fell within the specified limits （i.e., the .fc equals 70%）.

The learning curve for transurethral enucleation with bipolar energy for benign prostate hyperplasia:a single-surgeon experience of 494 patients

This study was performed to investigate the learning curve of transurethral enucleation with bipolar energy(TUEB)for benignprostatic *** study involved 494 consecutive patients who underwent TUEB for benign prostatic hyperplasia fromAugust 2018 to March 2022 by one surgeon(SJJ,Seoul National University Bundang Hospital,Seongnam,Korea).The patientswere followed up at 1 week,1 month,3 months,and 6 months *** evaluate the learning curve of TUEB,perioperativeparameters including the enucleation ratio(enucleated tissue weight/transitional zone volume),TUEB efficiency(enucleatedtissue weight/operation time),and enucleation efficiency(enucleated tissue weight/enucleation time)were *** and postoperative complications were also assessed,including the International Prostate Symptom Score(IPSS),IPSSquality-of-life(QoL)score,and uroflowmetry *** patients’median age was 72(interquartile range[IQR]:66–78)years,and the estimated prostate volume and transitional zone volume were 63.0(IQR:46.0–90.6)ml and 37.1(IQR:24.0–60.0)ml,*** enucleation ratio,TUEB efficiency,and enucleation efficiency were 0.60(IQR:0.46–0.54)g ml−1,0.33(IQR:0.22–0.46)g min−1,and 0.50(IQR:0.35–0.72)g min−1,respectively,plateauing after 70 *** functional outcomes,including total IPSS,IPSS QoL score,and uroflowmetry outcomes,significantly improved at 6 months after TUEB(all P<0.05),but without significant differences over the learning ***-five(13.2%)patients developed complications after TUEB,21.5%of whom experienced major complications(Clavien–Dindo grade≥3).The rate of major complications declined as the number ofTUEB cases increased(P=0.013).Our results suggest that the efficiency of TUEB stabilized within 70 procedures.

A conical form of nano-sized quantum cluster was formed on the surface of p-type crystalline silicon [111] wafer by anode electrochemical etching in HF-based *** conical surface is highly effective in absorbing sunlight and transporting photoelectrons to semiconductor *** are because each cone has a graded band gap with the energy level in the range from 1.1 to 3 eV which can be considered as consisting of quantum dots in different *** the boron concentration on the surface of each cone gradually decreases from top to bottom,a continuously varying electrical field is created along the cone *** electric field is forcing photoelectrons generated in the cone to move rapidly to the direction perpendicular to wafer *** the drift time of photoelectrons can be less than their recombination time within the thin layer close to the bottom of the cone.

Progress in light-to-frequency conversion circuits based on low dimensional semiconductors

As the scaling down of Si devices in the range less than few nm has been expedited up to a physical limit of Si,low dimensional materials have been regarded as one of next generation *** a variety of applications,studies on photodetectors have been actively investigated with their novel optical properties as well as astonishing electrical ***,most of research has focused on single device-type photodetector(i.e.,photo-diode or photo-transistor).Contrary to common photodetector,light-to-frequency circuits(LFCs)are based on frequency reading with photosensitive ring oscillators,which has better noise immunity and reduced system complexity,thus,can be utilized to novel application even in internet of things(loT)and bio&medical *** this review,low dimensional materials based circuit level photodetectors,which are core elements as the form of either inverters or ring oscillators for demonstration of LFCs,are *** with the introduction of low dimensional materials and their optical properties for optoelectronics,a fundamental concept for LFCs is specifically ***,research progress on low dimensional material based photosensitive inverters is addressed according to the types of ***,as one of practical method for the improvement of photodetector performance,molecular doping technology is ***,complete system of LFCs and its digitization for demonstration of production level,and potential application in the respective four aspects,(i)medical SpO_(2) detection,(ii)biological fluidic system,(iii)auto-lighting in agriculture,and(iv)optical feedback and sensing systems,are presented as systematic way to address the envisioned practical applications for the future displays including virtual reality and augmented reality,and *** a remark,LFCs based on low dimensional semiconductors are expected to be one of core components in trillion’s sensor area.
