Background:Diabetic retinopathy(DR)is a leading cause of vision loss in ***,the standard imaging technique to monitor and prognosticate DR and diabetic maculopathy is dye-based *** the introduction of optical coherence tomography angiography(OcTA),it may serve as a potential rapid,non-invasive imaging modality as an *** text:Recent studies on the role of OcTA in DR include the use of vascular parameters e.g.,vessel density,intercapillary spacing,vessel diameter index,length of vessels based on skeletonised OcTA,the total length of vessels,vascular architecture and area of the foveal avascular *** quantitative measures may be able to detect changes with the severity and progress of DR for clinical *** may also serve as a non-invasive imaging method to detect diabetic macula ischemia,which may help predict visual ***,there are many limitations of OcTA in DR,such as difficulty in segmentation between superficial and deep capillary plexus;and its use in diabetic macula edema where the presence of cystic spaces may affect image *** applications of OcTA in the anterior segment include detection of anterior segment ischemia and iris neovascularisation associated with proliferative DR and risk of neovascular ***:OcTA may potentially serve as a useful non-invasive imaging tool in the diagnosis and monitoring of diabetic retinopathy and maculopathy in the *** studies may demonstrate how quantitative OcTA measures may have a role in detecting early retinal changes in patients with diabetes.

Encapsulating peritoneal sclerosis(EPS) is a debilitating condition characterized by a fibrocollagenous membrane encasing the small intestine, resulting in recurrent small bowel obstructions. EPS is most commonly associated with long-term peritoneal dialysis, though medications, peritoneal infection, and systemic inflammatory disorders have been implicated. Many cases remain idiopathic. Diagnosis is often delayed given the rarity of the disorder combined with non-specific symptoms and laboratory findings. Although cross-sectional imaging with computed tomography of the abdomen can be suggestive of the disorder, many patients undergo exploratory laparotomy for diagnosis. Mortality approaches 50% one year after diagnosis. Treatment for EPS involves treating the underlying condition or eliminating possible inciting agents(i.e. peritoneal dialysis, medications, infections) and nutritional support, frequently with total parenteral nutrition. EPSspecific treatment depends on the disease stage. In the inflammatory stage, corticosteroids are the treatment of choice, while in the fibrotic stage, tamoxifen may be beneficial. In practice, distinguishing between stages may be difficult and both may be used. Surgical intervention, consisting of peritonectomy and enterolysis, is timeconsuming and high-risk and is reserved for situations in which conservative medical therapy fails in institutions with surgical expertise in this area. Herein we review the available literature of the etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of this rare, but potentially devastating disease.

Predator-prey size relationships are among the most important patterns underlying the structure and function of ecological ***,these relationships have already been shown to be important for understanding patterns of macroevolution and differential extinction in the terrestrial vertebrate fossil *** isotope analysis(SIA)is a powerful remote approach to examining animal diets and *** approach is based on the principle that isotope compositions of consumer tissues reflect those of their *** systems where resource isotope compositions are distributed along a body size gradient,SIA could be used to reconstruct predator-prey size *** analyzed stable carbon isotope distributions amongst mammalian herbivores in extant and Plio-Pleistocene African savanna assemblages,and show that the range ofδ^(13)c values among mammalian prey species(herbivores and rodents)increases with body mass(BM),because c_(4) plant feeding(essentially grazing)is more common among larger ***,δ^(13)c values of mammalian carnivores in these systems are related to species’BM,reflecting a higher average c_(4) prey component in the diets of larger-bodied *** pattern likely emerges because only the largest carnivores in these systems have regular access to the c_(4) prey base,whereas smaller carnivores do ***δ^(13)c-BM relationship observed in mammalian carnivores is a potentially powerful approach for reconstructing and parameterizing predator-prey size relationships in contemporary and fossil savanna assemblages,and for interpreting how various behavioral,ecological and environmental factors influence prey size selection.

Trichomoniasis is the most common, sexually transmitted infection. It is caused by the flagellated protozoan parasite Trichomonas vaginalis. Symptoms include vaginitis and infections have been associated with preterm delivery, low birth weight and increased infant mortality, as well as predisposing to HIV/AIDS and cervical cancer. Trichomoniasis has the highest prevalence and incidence of any sexually transmitted infection. The 5-nitroimidazole drugs, of which metronidazole is the most prescribed, are the only approved, effective drugs to treat trichomoniasis. Resistance against metronidazole is frequently reported and cross resistance among the family of 5-nitroimidazole drugs is common, leaving no alternative for treatment, with some cases remaining unresolved. The mechanism of metronidazole resistance in T. vaginalis from treatment failures is not well understood, unlike resistance which is developed in the laboratory under increasing metronidazole pressure. The Florida Museum of Natural History＇s McGuire center for lepidoptera and Biodiversity, on the University of Florida campus in Gainesville, Florida, has become one of the world＇s largest institutions for research on butterflies and moths, and an important research facility for insect science. The facility was constructed by combining the staff and merging the lepidoptera holdings from the Allyn Museum of Entomology, the Florida State collection of Arthropods and other University of Florida collections, and now includes over ten million specimens from all over the world, rivaling some of the largest lepidoptera research collections globally. The facility includes a team of domestic and international researchers studying many areas of lepidopterology, including behavior, biodiversity, biogeography, ecology, genomics, physiology, systematics and taxonomy. In this paper, we introduce the McGuire center, its staff, and the many research activities for researchers across entomological disciplines.

Yttria-stabilized zirconia(YSZ,ZrO_(2)-8%Y2O_(3))films were deposited onto lanthanum strontium manganite(lSM,la_(0.7)Sr_(0.3)MnO_(3))substrates using dip-coating process aiming for the application in solid oxide fuel cells(SOFcs).YSZ precursor was prepared by sol-gel method;three values of the organic/inorganic concentration ratio(1,3 and 5)were utilized and the sol viscosity was adjusted(60 mPa·s and 100 mPa·s)before deposition on the *** influence of these synthesis parameters on the structure and morphology of the deposited films was examined by X-ray diffraction(XRD)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The films showed characteristic peaks of lSM,YSZ(with cubic structure)and secondary phases of SrZrO_(3) and la_(2)O_(3).Depending on the synthesis conditions,crack-free,homogeneous and well adhered films were obtained,with thickness of 11-24μm.
