Unexpected anterograde amnesia associated with Buscopan used as a predmedication for endocscopy

It has been known that peripheral adverse event is caused by peripheral antimuscarinic action, from hyoscine butylbromide (Buscopan; Boehringer Ingelheim, Germany) used as a premedication for endoscopy. However, symptoms or signs associated with the central nervous system are rarely reported in the field of anesthesiology and peripartum labor. This central anticholinergic syndrome is likely caused by blockade of muscarinic cholinergic receptors in the central nervous system. There is no report on Buscopan-induced central anticholinergic syndrome in endoscopy room so far. Three middle-aged females unexpectedly suffered from anterograde amnesia after intramuscular injection of hyoscine butylbromide as an antispasmodic premedication for endoscopy at our endoscopy unit in the Health Promotion Center.

We study the leader-following consensus stability and stabilization of networked multi-teleoperator systems with interval time-varying communication delays. With the construction of a suitable Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional and the utilization of the reciprocally convex approach, novel delay-dependent consensus stability and stabilization conditions for the systems are established in terms of linear matrix inequalities, which can easily be solved by various effective optimization algorithms. One illustrative example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

Coordinated investigations into the interactions between biologically mimicking(biomimetic)material constructs and stem cells advance the potential for the regeneration and possible direct replacement of diseased cells and *** clinically relevant therapies will require the development and optimization of methods that mass produce fully functional cells and *** advances in the design and synthesis of biomaterial scaffolds,one of the biggest obstacles facing tissue engineering is understanding how specific extracellular cues produced by biomaterial scaffolds influence the proliferation and differentiation of various cell *** elasticity is one such tailorable property of synthetic scaffolds that is known to differ between ***,we investigate the interactions between an elastically tailorable polyethylene glycol(PEG)-based hydrogel platform and human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells(hMSCs).For these studies,two different hydrogel compositions with elastic moduli in the ranges of 50-60 kPa and 8-10 kPa were *** findings demonstrate that the different elasticities in this platform can produce changes in hMSC morphology and proliferation,indicating that the platform can be implemented to produce changes in hMSC behavior and cell state for a broad range of tissue engineering and regenerative ***,we show that the platform’s different elasticities influence stem cell differentiation potential,particularly when promoting stem cell differentiation toward cell types from tissues with stiffer *** findings add to the evolving and expanding library of information on stem cell-biomaterial interactions and opens the door for continued exploration into PEG-based hydrogel scaffolds for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications.

Nucleic acid amplification and quantification via polymerase chain reaction(PCR)is one of the most sensitive and powerful tools for clinical laboratories,precision medicine,personalized medicine,agricultural science,forensic science and environmental *** multiplex PCR,characterized by low power consumption,compact size and simple operation,is ideal for timely diagnosis at the point-of-care(POC).Although several fast/ultrafast PCR methods have been proposed,the use of a simple and robust PCR thermal cycler remains challenging for POC ***,we present an ultrafast photonic PCR method using plasmonic photothermal light-to-heat conversion via photon–electron–phonon *** demonstrate an efficient photonic heat converter using a thin gold(Au)film due to its plasmon-assisted high optical absorption(approximately 65%at 450 nm,the peak wavelength of heat source light-emitting diodes(LEDs)).The plasmon-excited Au film is capable of rapidly heating the surrounding solution to over 150℃ within 3 *** this method,ultrafast thermal cycling(30 cycles;heating and cooling rate of 12.7960.93℃ s^(-1) and 6.660.29℃ s^(-1),respectively)from 55℃(temperature of annealing)to 95℃(temperature of denaturation)is accomplished within 5 *** photonic PCR thermal cycles,we demonstrate here successful nucleic acid(λ-DNA)*** simple,robust and low cost approach to ultrafast PCR using an efficient photonic-based heating procedure could be generally integrated into a variety of devices or procedures,including on-chip thermal lysis and heating for isothermal amplifications.

Strigolactones(SLs),which are biosynthesized mainly in roots,modulate various aspects of plant growth and ***,we review recent research on the role of SLs and their cross-regulation with auxin,cytokinin,and ethylene in the modulation of root growth and *** nutrientsufficient conditions,SLs regulate the elongation of primary roots and inhibit adventitious root formation in eudicot *** promote the elongation of seminal roots and increase the number of adventitious roots in grass plants in the short term,while inhibiting lateral root development in both grass and eudicot *** effects of SLs on the elongation of root hairs are variable and depend on plant species,growth conditions,and SL *** or phosphate deficiency induces the accumulation of endogenous SLs,modulates root growth and *** analyses indicate cross-regulation of SLs with auxin,cytokinin,and ethylene in regulation of root growth and *** discuss the implications of these studies and consider their potential for exploiting the components of SL signaling for the design of crop plants with more efficient soil-resource utilization.

The Mufushan Complex(MFSC),located in northeastern Hunan,is a significant producer of Nb-Ta-Li-Be rare metals in South *** present study examines the genetic relationship,material provenance,fluid evolution,and metallogeny of the co-developed ore-free pegmatite(OFP)and ore-bearing pegmatite(OBP)in granite-related pegmatite-type Nb-Ta rare-metal deposits in *** minerals(columbite-tantalite(coltan),zircon,and monazite)were chosen for *** coltan grains display both primary crystallization structures(crystal homogeneity,oscillatory zonings,and primary growth rims)resulting from equilibrium and disequilibrium reactions due to localized changes in the physicochemical conditions and environment,as well as later replacement structures(alteration rims,patches,irregular zonations,and complex zonations)from metasomatic replacement processes related to hydrothermal fluid *** coltan yielded two weighted mean^(206)Pb/^(238)U ages of 138.1±2.1 Ma and 125.3±2.0 Ma corresponding to magmatic and hydrothermal Nb-Ta mineralization *** the OFP,zircons also yielded two weighted mean^(206)Pb/^(238)U ages of 138.4±0.8 Ma and 131.5±0.7 Ma,whereas monazite gave a weighted mean U-Pb age 142.9±1.2 *** ages of 142-138 Ma and 131 Ma represent the early and late stages of OFP crystallization and barren pegmatites in the MFSC,*** Lu-Hf isotopic compositions link rare-metal metallogenesis to the Lengjiaxi Group,which was the source material to the Mufushan composite ***ε_(Hf)(t)values and TDM2 ages from the OFP(-7.6 to-3.6 and 1676-1418 Ma,respectively)and the OBP(-14.1 to+4.9 and 2976-1548 Ma,respectively)are akin to those of schists and metasandstones of the metasedimentary Lengjiaxi *** propose a long-lived(ca.13-Myr)event involving two metallogenic episodes of Nb-Ta mineralization in the Mufushan *** study demonstrates the potential of zircon,coltan,and monazite for fingerprinting minerals and classifying the m
