Broadband strong optical dichroism in topological Dirac semimetals with Fermi velocity anisotropy

Prototypical three-dimensional(3D)topological Dirac semimetals(DSMs),such as cd3As2 and Na3Bi,contain electrons that obey a linear momentum-energy dispersion with different Fermi velocities along the three orthogonal momentum *** being extensively studied in recent years,the inherent Fermi velocity anisotropy has often been neglected in the theoretical and numerical studies of 3D *** this omission does not qualitatively alter the physics of light-driven massless quasiparticles in 3D DSMs,it does quantitatively change the optical coefficients which can lead to nontrivial implications in terms of nanophotonics and plasmonics *** we study the linear optical response of 3D DSMs for general Fermi velocity values along each *** the signature conductivity-frequency scaling,σ(ω)∝ω,of 3D Dirac fermion is well-protected from the Fermi velocity anisotropy,the linear optical response exhibits strong linear dichroism as captured by the universal extinction ratio scaling law,Λi j=(vi/v j)^2(where i=j denotes the three spatial coordinates x,y,z,and vi is the i-direction Fermi velocity),which is independent of frequency,temperature,doping,and carrier scattering *** cd3As2 and Na3Bi3,an exceptionally strong extinction ratio larger than 15 and covering a broad terahertz window is *** findings shed new light on the role of Fermi velocity anisotropy in the optical response of Dirac semimetals and open up novel polarization-sensitive functionalities,such as photodetection and light modulation.

In this paper,the node based smoothed-strain Abaqus user element(UEL)in the framework of finite element method is *** basic idea behind of the node based smoothed finite element(NSFEM)is that finite element cells are divided into subcells and subcells construct the smoothing domain associated with each node of a finite element cell[Liu,Dai and Nguyen-Thoi(2007)].Therefore,the numerical integration is globally performed over smoothing *** is demonstrated that the proposed UEL retains all the advantages of the NSFEM,i.e.,upper bound solution,overly soft stiffness and free from locking in compressible and nearly-incompressible *** this work,the constant strain triangular(cST)elements are used to construct node based smoothing domains,since any complex two dimensional domains can be discretized using cST *** additional challenge is successfully addressed in this *** efficacy and robustness of the proposed work is obtained by several benchmark problems in both linear and nonlinear *** developed UEL and the associated files can be downloaded from https://***/nsundar/NSFEM.

Our laboratory has pursued T cell therapy withantigen-specific T cell clones as means to treat *** studies in the prevention of cMV disease in immunosuppressed patients with hematologic malignancies undergoing bone marrow transplantation(BMT),in which patients receive infusions of cMV-speeific cD8^(+)and cD4^(+)T cell clones derived from the BMT donor,have highlighted the potential for amplifying human immune responses by transfer of antigen-specific T cells.

In this work,we investigated leaching of lanthanide and yttrium(REY) from a central Appalachian coal and its ashes obtained at 550-950℃ with the main purpose of understanding the impact of ashing temperature on REY leachability in water,ammonium sulfate,and hydrochloric *** is found that the coal contains a negligible amount of water-soluble REY,less than 1% ion-exchangeable REY,and about 28% of Hcl-soluble *** leads to dramatic changes in REY leachability in both ammonium sulfate and hydrochloric acid solutions,which is believed to be related to transformation and redistribution of organically-associated REY in coal during the ashing *** temperature significantly affects REY leaching from coal ashes;higher ashing temperature results in lower REY leachability in both *** minerals may play a significant role in changing the leachability of REY after *** addition,the results also suggest that the organic matter in the coal is relatively enriched in heavy REY.

Versican belongs to the family of the large aggregating chondroitin sulfate proteoglycans located primarily within theextracellular matrix (EcM). Versican, like other members of its family, has unique N- and c-terminal globular regions,each with multiple motifs. A large glycosaminoglycan-binding region lies between them. This review will begin byoutlining these structures, in the context of EcM proteoglycans. The diverse binding partners afforded to versican byvirtue of its modular design will then be examined. These include EcM components, such as hyaluronan, type Icollagen, tenascin-R, fibulin-1, and -2, fibrillin-1, fibronectin, P- and L-selectins, and chemokines. Versican also binds tothe cell surface proteins cD44, integrin β1, epidermal growth factor receptor, and P-selectin glycoprotein *** multiple interactors play important roles in cell behaviour, and the roles of versican in modulating such processesare discussed.
