Existing pion+nucleus Drell-Yan and electron+pion scattering data are used to develop ensembles of modelindependent representations of the pion generalized parton distribution(GPD).Therewith,one arrives at a datadriven prediction for the pion mass distribution form factor,θ_(2)^(π).Compared with the pion elastic electromagnetic form factor,θ_(2)^(π)is harder:the ratio of the radii derived from these two form factors is r_(π)^(θ2)/r_(π)= 0.79(3).Our datadriven predictions for the pion GPD,related form factors and distributions should serve as valuable constraints on theories of pion structure.

Identification of ta-siRnAs and Cis-nat-siRnAs in Cassava and Their Roles in Response to Cassava Bacterial Blight

Trans-acting small interfering RnAs （ta-siRnAs） and natural cis-antisense siRnAs （cisnat-siRnAs） are recently discovered small RnAs （sRnAs） involved in post-transcriptional gene silencing, ta-siRnAs are transcribed from genomic loci and require processing by microRnAs （miRnAs）. cis-nat-siRnAs are derived from antisense RnAs produced by the simultaneous tran- scription of overlapping antisense genes. Their roles in many plant processes, including pathogen response, are mostly unknown. In this work, we employed a bioinformatic approach to identify ta-siRnAs and cis-nat-siRnAs in cassava from two sRnA libraries, one constructed from healthy cassava plants and one from plants inoculated with the bacterium Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. manihotis （Xam）. A total of 54 possible ta-siRnA loci were identified in cassava, including a homo- log of TAS3, the best studied plant ta-siRnA. Fifteen of these loci were induced, while 39 were repressed in response to Xam infection. In addition, 15 possible c/s-natural antisense transcript （cis-nAT） loci producing siRnAs were identified from overlapping antisense regions in the genome, and were found to be differentially expressed upon Xam infection. Roles of sRnAs were predicted by sequence complementarity and our results showed that many sRnAs identified in this work might be directed against various transcription factors. This work represents a significant step toward understanding the roles of sRnAs in the immune response of cassava.

Revealing pion and kaon structure via generalised parton distributions

Clear windows onto emergent hadron mass(EHM)and modulations thereof by Higgs boson interactions are provided by observable measures of pion and kaon structure,many of which are accessible via generalised parton distributions(GPDs).Beginning with algebraic GPD Ansätze,constrained entirely by hadron-scaleπand K valence-parton distribution functions(DFs),in whose forms both EHM and Higgs boson influences are manifest,numerous illustrations are *** include the properties of electromagnetic form factors,impact parameter space GPDs,gravitational form factors and associated pressure profiles,and the character and consequences of allorders *** analyses predict that mass-squared gravitational form factors are stiffer than electromagnetic form factors;reveal that K pressure profiles are tighter than profiles,with both mesons sustaining near-core pressures at magnitudes similar to that expected at the core of neutron stars;deliver parameter-free predictions for and K valence,glue,and sea GPDs at the resolving scale l=2GeV;and predict that at this scale the fraction of meson mass-squared carried by glue and sea combined matches that lodged with the valence degrees-of-freedom,with a similar statement holding for mass-squared radii.

Synthesis of Silver nanoparticles Using Albumin as a Reducing Agent

The preparation of stable, uniformed silver nanoparticles by the reduction of silver ions using albumin is reported in the present paper. It is a simple process for obtaining silver nanoparticles. The samples have been characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), which reveal the nature of the nanoparticles. These studies conclude that the particles are mostly spherical in shape and have an average size of 26 nm. The UV-vis spectra show that an absorption band, occurred because of the Surface Plasmon Resonance, existing at 443 nm;the Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) shows that only 2% of the weight is organic matter. The average particle size was measured with a nanosizer DLS.

Using lattice configurations for quantum chromodynamics(QCD)generated with three domain-wall fermions at a physical pion mass,we obtain a parameter-free prediction of QCD’s renormalisation-group-invariant process-independent effective charge,α^(k2).Owing to the dynamical breaking of scale invariance,evident in the emergence of a gluon mass-scale,m0=0.43(1)GeV,this coupling saturates at infrared momenta:α^(0)/π=0.97(4).Amongst other things:α^(k2)is almost identical to the process-dependent(PD)effective charge defined via the Bjorken sum rule;and also that PD charge which,employed in the one-loop evolution equations,delivers agreement between pion parton distribution functions computed at the hadronic scale and *** diversity of unifying roles played byα^(k^2)suggests that it is a strong candidate for that object which represents the interaction strength in QCD at any given momentum scale;and its properties support a conclusion that QCD is a mathematically well-defined quantum field theory in four dimensions.

Effect of monovalent/divalent ions and SiO2-based nanocomposite dosage on thermochemical stability of HPAM polymeric solutions

This study evaluated the effect of monovalent and divalent ions and the dosage of a SiO2-based nanocomposite on the thermochemical stability of HPAM polymeric solution. Chelating amine-functionalized nPs（AFnPs） were used to enhance the thermochemical stability of HPAM based on capturing monovalent/divalent ions after seven days at 70°C. Different polymer solutions prepared with calcium chloride dihydrate（CaCl2·2H2O） at 2000 mg/L and sodium chloride（naCl） at 10000 mg/L, and two different dosages of HPAM（1000 and 2000 mg/L） were assessed in the presence and absence of AFnPs at dosages of 200, 500 and 1000 mg/L. The nanocomposite was characterized by n2adsorption, Fourier-transformed infrared spectrophotometry（FTIR）, thermogravimetric analysis（TGA）, dynamic Light Scattering（DLS）,and Zeta potential（ZP）. Stability tests over time confirmed the positive effect of nanocomposite on increasing the thermochemical stability of polymer solutions. Results revealed that adding 0, 200, and 500 mg/L of nanocomposite to the polymeric solution at 1000 mg/L of HPAM, 10000 mg/L of naCl, and 2000 mg/L of CaCl2·2H2O led to the viscosity reductions of 73.5%, 18%, and less than 1% after 7 days（70°C）, respectively. nanocomposite at 200 mg/L reduces the polymer degradation in the presence of the two salts evaluated separately, i.e., 20% for 10000 mg/L of naCl and 15% for 2000 mg/L of CaCl2·2H2O. The adsorption tests on AFnPs and SiO2nPs concluded that AFnPs had higher adsorption of cations in comparison to SiO2nPs and that greater adsorption of cations is related to a reduction in polymer degradation.

rAL Effectors Drive Transcription Bidirectionally in Plants

TAL effectors delivered by phytopathogenic Xanthomonas species are DnA-sequence-specific transcrip- tional activators of host susceptibility genes and sometimes resistance genes. The modularity of DnA recognition by TAL effectors makes them important also as tools for gene targeting and genome editing. Effector binding elements （EBEs） recognized by native TAL effectors in plants have been identified only on the forward strand of target promoters. Here, we demonstrate that TAL effectors can drive plant tran- scription from EBEs on either strand and in both directions. Furthermore, we show that a native TAL effector from Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzicola drives expression of a target with an EBE on each strand of its promoter. By inserting that promoter and derivatives between two reporter genes oriented head to head, we show that the TAL effector drives expression from either EBE in the respective orientations, and that activity at the reverse-strand EBE also potentiates forward transcription driven by activity at the forward-strand EBE. Our results reveal new modes of action for TAL effectors, suggesting the possibility of yet unrecognized targets important in plant disease, expanding the search space for off-targets of custom TAL effectors, and highlighting the potential of TAL effectors for probing fundamental aspects of plant transcription.
