Three-year follow-up in advanced pediatric keratoconus:thin corneas may not have pachymetry properly assessed after crosslinking

AIM:To analyze the crosslinking(CXL)effects in pediatric keratoconus,and to identify the patients’corneal characteristics whose pachymetry could not be adequately evaluated by Scheimpflug method after ***:Consecutive pediatric patients with progressive keratoconus underwent CXL were ***-corrected visual acuity(BCVA)and spheric equivalent(SE)were measured before and after *** CXL,groups 1 and 2 were divided based on the posterior surface Pentacam quality specifications(QS):"OK"(Group 1)and"not OK"(Group 2).The mean(RmF and RmB)and minimum(RminF and RminB)radius of curvatures of the anterior and posterior corneal surfaces,and the thinnest pachymetry(Pmin)were measured preoperatively at 3,6,12,24,and 36 *** was ***:Twenty-six patients(14 men,mean age 14±1.8 y)and median Kmax of 59.9 D initially and 61.4 D preoperatively were *** was not different before and 24 mo after *** 2 statistically differed to group 1 in that SE was more myopic before and with no difference 24 mo after CXL;RmF and RmB were steeper and Pmin was thinner *** 2,in which pachymetric changes could not be adequately evaluated after surgery,presented with significant RmF flattening,a shift to hyperopia,and more haze after ***:Patients whose pachymetry could not be adequately evaluated after CXL had steeper and thinner corneas before *** predictive factors for impaired QS after CXL are RmF,RmB,and *** advanced keratoconus,alternative methods to analyze pachymetry and the posterior surface should be considered.

Interaction between diet and genetics in patients with inflammatory bowel disease

In this editorial,we comment on the article by Marangoni et al,published in the recent issue of the World journal of Gastroenterology 2023;29:5618-5629,about“Diet as an epigenetic factor in inflammatory bowel disease”.The authors emphasized the role of diet,especially the interaction with genetics,in promoting the inflam-matory process in inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)patients,focusing on DNA methylation,histone modifications,and the influence of *** this editorial,we explore the interaction between genetics,gut microbiota,and diet,in an only ***,we provided dietary recommendations for patients with *** Western diet,characterized by a low fiber content and deficiency the micronutrients,impacts short-chain fatty acids production and may be related to the pathogenesis of *** the other hand,the consumption of the Mediter-ranean diet and dietary fibers are associated with reduced risk of IBD flares,particularly in Crohn’s disease(CD)*** to the dietary guidance from the International Organization for the Study of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases(IOIBD),the regular consumption of fruits and vegetables while reducing the consumption of saturated,trans,dairy fat,additives,processed foods rich in maltodextrins,and artificial sweeteners containing sucralose or saccharine is recommended to CD *** patients with ulcerative colitis,the IOIBD recommends the increased intake of natural sources of omega-3 fatty acids and follows the same restrictive recommendations aimed at CD patients,with the possible inclusion of red *** conclusion,IBD is a complex and hetero-geneous disease,and future studies are needed to elucidate the influence of epigenetics on diet and microbiota in IBD patients.

Effects of different cue positions on evoked potentials in the cerebral cortex during global and local processing of compound stimuli A study of event-related potential

BACKGROUND： Previous studies of attentional control have focused primarily on pre-cue control of attentional cue and direction. OBjECTIVE： To measure the differences in electrical activity of brain cells while processing pre-cue and post-cue compound stimuli, and to explore brain electrical activity during global and local processing of compound stimuli according to electroencephalogram （EEG） recordings. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING： A within-subject design study was performed at the School of Psychology, State Key Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning, Beijing Normal University, China from March to May 2006. PARTICIPANTS： A total of 30 healthy, undergraduate students, aged 17-24 years, comprising 12 males and 18 females, were voluntarily enrolled from Beijing Normal University. Subjects exhibited normal or corrected-to-normal visual acuity. No significant non signal wave drift was detected during testing. METHODS： A total of 30 subjects were subjected to pre-cue and post-cue compound stimulus processing using event-related potential and EEG recordings. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES： Evoked potential was recorded in different brain regions utilizing event-related potential to observe hemispheric symmetry, cue consistency and global-local features. RESULTS： Pre-cue compound stimuli resulted in hemispheric asymmetry for early wave （N1） and late wave （P3） in anterior brain regions. Early- and late-wave induced hemispheric asymmetry for electrode points （O1, 02, P3, P4, Pz, F3, F4, F7, F8, Fz, FP1, FP2, T7, TS, C3, C4, and Cz） during processing of pre-cue compound stimuli （P 〈 0.05）. Post-cue compound stimuli did not induce hemispheric asymmetry of brain waves induced by the above-described electrode points. No significant differences in global and local responses were determined during processing of post-cue compound stimuli. Managing inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)is becoming increasingly complex and personalized,considering the advent of new advanced therapies with distinct mechanisms of *** mucosal healing(MH)is a pivotal therapeutic goal in IBD management and can prevent IBD progression and reduce flares,hospitalization,surgery,intestinal damage,and colorectal *** proactive disease and therapy assessment is essential to achieve better control of intestinal inflammation,even if subclinical,to alter the natural course of *** monitoring of fecal calprotectin(FC)levels and interval endoscopic evaluations are cornerstones for evaluating response/remission to advanced therapies targeting IBD,assessing MH,and detecting subclinical ***,we comment on the article by Ishida et al Moreover,this editorial aimed to review the role of FC and endoscopic scores in predicting MH in patients with ***,we intend to present some evidence on the role of these markers in future targets,such as histological and transmural *** prospective multicenter studies with a stricter MH criterion,standardized endoscopic and histopathological analyses,and virtual chromoscopy,potentially including artificial intelligence and other biomarkers,are desired.

Growth mechanism of octahedron-like BaMoO_4 microcrystals processed in microwave-hydrothermal:Experimental observations and computational modeling

Octahedron-like BaMoO4 microcrystals were synthesized by the co-precipitation method at room temperature and processed in microwave-hydrothermal at 413 K for different times （from 30 min to 5 h）. These microcrystals were analyzed by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, field-emission gun scanning electron microscopy （FEG-SEM） and transmission electron microscopy （TEM）. XRD patterns showed that this material presents a tetragonal structure without the presence of deleterious phases. FEG-SEM and TEM micrographs revealed that the BaMoO4 microcrystals present an octahedron-like morphology with agglomerate nature and polydisperse particle size distribution. These micrographs also indicated that the microcrystals grow along the [0 01 ] direction. The observed crystallographic planes in these structures were modeled computationally and a crystal growth model was proposed in order to explain the morphological changes as a function of processing time.

Archean-Ediacaran evolution of the Campos Gerais Domain-A reworked margin of the São Francisco paleocontinent(SE Brazil):Constraints from metamafic-ultramafic rocks

The Campos Gerais Domain(CGD)in southeastern Brazil is an approximately 180 km×35 km area of Archean–Proterozoic rocks located southwest of the São Francisco Craton(SFC).The Archean–Paleopro terozoic evolution of the CGD—alongside its potential correlation with the SFC or other cratonic blocks in the region-is currently *** present the results of systematic petrography,bulkrock geochemistry,mineral chemistry and geochronology for a suite of scarcely studied mafic–ultramafic rocks from the *** also provide a compilation of previously reported bulk-rock geochemical and spinel group mineral chemical data for mafic–ultramafic rocks throughout the CGD,and geochronological information for various lithotypes in the *** CGD records a protracted Mesoarchean to Statherian(3.1–1.7 Ga)crustal evolution,which we interpret to share a common history with the southern SFC and their related reworked segments,suggesting that it is a westward extension of this cratonic *** metavolcano-sedimentary rocks of the Fortaleza de Minas and Alpinópolis segments represent a Mesoarchean greenstone belt that is stratigraphically and chemically comparable to Archean greenstone belts worldwide,and that is broadly coeval with a local suite of tonalite-trondhjemite-grano diorite(TTG)gneisses and migmatites.U-Pb SHRIMP zircon data from a subalkaline metagabbro yielded a concordia age of ca.2.96 Ga,revealing a previously unrecognized phase of Archean magmatism in the CGD that can be chrono-correlated with metakomatiite and TTG generation elsewhere in the São Francisco *** data contradict a hypothesis whereby the metavolcano-sedimentary rocks of the jacuí-Bom jesus da Penha and Petúnia segments represent an ophiolite,as previously suggested,instead presenting features that point to formation in association with a continental *** with a U-Pb(SHRIMP)crystallization age of ca.2.13 Ga recorded by zircon grains from a metaultramafic rock,these data h

以Vulcan XC-72炭为载体,采用硼氢化钠还原法制备了Pd-TiO_(2)/C电催化剂用于直接丙三醇燃料电池阳极材料,并用能量色散谱(EDX)、X射线衍射(XRD)、透射电子显微镜(TEM)、循环伏安法(CV)、计时电流法(I-t)和全反射-傅里叶变换红外光谱(ATR-FTIR)对催化剂进行了表征。EDX结果表明,Pd-TiO_(2)/C中Pd和Ti含量接近名义原子比。Pd-TiO_(2)的X射线衍射结果表明,Pd具有面心立方fcc结构,同时TiO_(2)展现出四方结构的锐钛矿相的峰特征。TEM图像显示Pd和TiO_(2)纳米颗粒在碳载体中分布均匀并存在一些簇状区域,纳米颗粒大小为7.0-8.0 nm。循环伏安显示在1 mol/L KOH电解液中催化剂Pd-TiO_(2)/C在约-0.7 V vs Ag/AgCl有明显的析氢行为和电容增加现象,表明催化剂在TiO_(2)修饰后活性明显增加。通过循环伏安对碱性体系的丙三醇电催化氧化表明,Pd-TiO_(2)/C(70∶30)显示了非常好的催化活性:起始氧化电位也变得更负达到-0.4V vs Ag/AgCl,氧化电流达到14.91 mA/cm,优于Pd-TiO_(2)/C(90∶10)的9.37 mA/cm和Pd-TiO_(2)/C(50∶50)的4.88 mA/cm,明显高于Pd/C和TiO_(2)/C的1.88和0.55 mA/cm。I-t实验表明1000 s之前Pd-TiO_(2)/C展现出最高的电流密度,但在1000 s后电流密度有一定程度的下降,表明催化剂的催化活性很高但长期稳定性方面需要进一步提升。在碱性直接丙三醇燃料电池中进行的实验表明,所制备的Pd-TiO_(2)/C(50∶50)、Pd-TiO_(2)/C(70∶30)和Pd-TiO_(2)/C(90∶10)对甘油的电化学氧化性能均优于Pd/C电催化剂,其中,Pd-TiO_(2)/C(70∶30)的催化活性最好:开路电压达到817 mV,最大功率密度达到12.5mW/cm,高于Pd-TiO_(2)/C(50∶50)的12.4mW/cm、Pd-TiO_(2)/C(90∶10)的7.9mW/cm、Pd/C的3.7mW/cm以及TiO_(2)/C的2.25 mW/cm,这表明,TiO_(2)对Pd/C催化剂有很好的促进作用,这种协同效应可以归因为TiO_(2)对Pd的电子效应和双功能机理,同时Pd和TiO_(2)比例为70∶30时,其催化性能达到最优。ATR-FTIR结果表明,反应后所有Pd-TiO_(2)/C电催化剂表面均有甘油醛、羟丙酮酸、甲酸等高附加值产物生成,为直接丙三醇燃料电池电-化学品联产提供一定的依据。

在这篇文章中,我们将根据现有科学文献关于中国企业进入国外市场的方式来评论现有的贸易国际化现象,并客观的审核中国企业出口到巴西市场口腔产品的可行性分析。为此,我们创建了由MOBERG&PALM的“六步国际化进程”。这一国际化模型认为,公司应该做一个研究,并总结出有关国际化的原因,之后,必须进行详细的SWOT分析,并列出优势和劣势,机会和风险,在这个新市场选择研究产品/服务是至关重要,因为公司通过这个与新市场做第一次接触,也应该开拓目标市场获得尽可能多的市场消息,选择进入模式也是很重要的,因为通过它给公司的未来目标市场定义,最后,在所有的信息资料准备后,该公司应该选择一个适当的时期进入市场。这篇论文中,我们将来聚焦口腔护理产品,共分为4大类：(口腔)清洁类(牙膏、牙胶、漱口水);刷类(婴儿手指刷、牙刷(儿童/成人)、假牙刷、齿间刷);牙线类(牙线、洁牙带);其他类(刮舌器);以上产品归类于CTF,CTF还囊括了皮毛制品、化妆、香水、洗浴等;这一行业在国际上占有很大市场,特别是据2010年数据,这些产品成为巴西的第3大产业。在这样的背景下,口腔产品被排名为国名市场销售份额第6位。对于口腔护理产品来说,巴西市场是一个很大的、并且很有竞争力的市场。由本篇论文列举的资料不难看出,目前大部分的牙刷(成人/儿童)和舌苔清洁器(刮舌器)都是产自中国,而我们以上提到的其他产品却少有产自中国。由此看来中国的制造业还有很大的机会和空间来挖掘新的市场份额。同事巴西有比较复杂的进口流程和要求,在巴西征税有“级联效应”,也就是说,一种税收会建立在另外一种的税收的基础之上,巴西人都了解的所谓“税上税”)。所有巴西税收的种类和征收方式也在此篇论文中有所阐述,并附有以上相关产品的税收实际范例。这边论文的最后部分将探讨中国企业如何实现以利益最大化的出口口腔护理产品到巴西市场,并做出总结和给出一些推荐。
