在不同的热磨条件下(蒸汽压力为0.4、0.6、0.8、1.0MPa,磨盘转数为2 500r/min和3 000r/min),将麦秸原料分离成纤维,并试制了相应的麦秸中密度纤维板,对比分析了不同的热磨条件对麦秸中密度纤维板的内结合强度、弯曲性能、吸水性能、表面硬度和边部握螺钉力的影响。结果表明,不同的热磨条件下分离得到的麦秸纤维形态存在差异,纤维的强度和形态对麦秸中密度纤维板的物理力学性能影响较大。当蒸汽压力为0.8MPa,磨盘转数为3 000r/min,麦秸中密度纤维板的各项性能得刮改善。

Cost-effectiveness of Crohn's disease post-operative care

AIM: To define the cost-effectiveness of strategies, including endoscopy and immunosuppression, to prevent endoscopic recurrence of Crohn’s disease following intestinal ***: In the “POCER” study patients undergoing intestinal resection were treated with post-operative drug therapy. Two thirds were randomized to active care (6 mo colonoscopy and drug intensification for endoscopic recurrence) and one third to drug therapy without early endoscopy. Colonoscopy at 18 mo and faecal calprotectin (FC) measurement were used to assess disease recurrence. Administrative data, chart review and patient questionnaires were collected prospectively over 18 ***: sixty patients (active care n = 43, standard care n = 17) were included from one health service. Median total health care cost was $6440 per patient. Active care cost $4824 more than standard care over 18 mo. Medication accounted for 78% of total cost, of which 90% was for adalimumab. Median health care cost was higher for those with endoscopic recurrence compared to those in remission [$26347 (IQR 25045-27485) vs $2729 (IQR 1182-5215), P select patients for colonoscopy could reduce cost by $1010 per patient over 18 mo. Active care was associated with 18% decreased endoscopic recurrence, costing $861 for each recurrence ***: Post-operative management strategies are associated with high cost, primarily medication related. Calprotectin use reduces costs. The long term cost-benefit of these strategies remains to be evaluated.

Experimental study on lodged corn harvest loss of small harvesters

The harvesting difficulty caused by corn lodging aggravated the loss of grain,especially in the regions where small harvesters were used as the main force for corn *** experimental study and analysis of harvest loss of small harvesters on the root lodged corn were made to get the laws of lodged corn harvest *** experiment was conducted in different harvesting directions and at a range of harvesting speeds.A 4-row self-propelled corn harvester(jM-4Y),a 2-row crawler type self-propelled corn harvester(jM-2C),and a 2-row crawler-type corn harvester equipped with a spiral auxiliary feeding device for lodged stalks(jM-2CAF)were taken as the research objects and the grain loss per square meter and the ear loss quantity per 30 square meters were taken as the experiment *** results showed that the average grain loss masses of the jM-4Y harvester,the jM-2C harvester and the jM-2CAF harvester in different harvesting directions were 101.88g,285.72 g and 110.20 g,while the average corn ear losses were 10.08,33.54 and 9.28 *** lowest harvest loss of the jM-4Y harvester appeared when the harvesting was the same as the lodging direction,while the jM-2CAF harvester caused the lowest harvest loss when the harvesting direction was opposite to the lodging *** different feeding demands of the ordinary harvester head and the auxiliary feeding devices made the harvesters have different feeding *** different harvesting speeds,the average grain loss mass of the jM-4Y harvester,the jM-2C harvester and the jM-2CAF harvester were 139.06 g,453.42 g and 236.64 g while the average corn ear loss quantities were 15.12,52.52 and 34.80 *** jM-4Y harvester had the lowest harvest loss at almost every harvesting speed,and the jM-2CAF harvester only had lower harvest loss when the harvesting speed was lower than 0.8 m/*** insufficient time to lift and deliver the lodged stalk and the impact between the spiral blades and the stalks were the cause

Melatonin in drug addiction and addiction management: Exploring an evolving multidimensional relationship

Melatonin is a pleiotropic signalling molecule that regulates several physiological functions, and synchronises biological rhythms. Recent evidences are beginning to reveal that a dysregulation of endogenous melatonin rhythm or action may play a larger role in the aetiology and behavioural expression of drug addiction, than was previously considered. Also, the findings from a number of animal studies suggest that exogenous melatonin supplementation and therapeutic manipulation of melatonin/melatonin receptor interactions may be beneficial in the management of behavioural manifestations of drug addiction. However, repeated exogenous melatonin administration may cause a disruption of its endogenous rhythm and be associated with potential drawbacks that might limit its usefulness. In this review, we examine the roles of melatonin and its receptors in addictive behaviours; discussing how our understanding of melatonin's modulatory effects on the brain rewards system and crucial neurotransmitters such as dopamine has evolved over the years. Possible indications(s) for melatonergic agents in addiction management, and how manipulations of the endogenous melatonin system may be of benefit are also discussed. Finally, the potential impediments to application of melatonin in the management of addictive behaviours are considered.

Nutritional and Mineral Variability in 52 Accessions of Common Bean Varieties(Phaseolus vulgaris L.)from Madeira Island

The Phaseolus vulgaris L. is one of the traditional and most important leguminous crops in the Island of Madeira. The island’s bioclimatic tiers, agro-ecological environment and traditional farming practices had a great influence on the evolution of regional bean landraces. The variability of the nutritional and mineral seeds composition of 59 accessions of the Madeiran landraces, standard and commercial varieties was evaluated. Wide ranges of variability in biochemical parameters were reported among the Madeiran landraces, being the best sources of protein and mineral nutrition, according to the statistical results and literature comparative evaluation. specifically, the content (g per 100 g DW) of ash ranged from 3.64-5.67, lipids from 0.57-2.86, protein from 18.55-29.69, starch from 23.40-52.65, soluble sugars from 2.97-6.84, while content of dry matter was from 83.35-93.55. The seeds also contained (per 100 g DW) between 2.55-4.83 g N, 0.30-7.50 g P, 1.30-2.49 g K, 0.10-0.18 g Mg, 4.10-10.00 mg Fe, 50.0-1.40 mg Cu, 2.20-5.00 mg Zn, 0.90-3.80 μg Mn and 0.20-2.40 μg B. This variability implies that the screened germplasm could serve as a source for breeding new varieties with improved biochemical and nutritional traits or could be highly recommended to meet specific dietary requirements. The cultivar Vaginha Grossa (IsOP 713) revealed low carbohydrate content that could be a good food choice for diabetics, while cultivar Vermelho (IsOP 724) bean should be offered as a valuable alternative source of protein and minerals in the local diet.
