Intermodal four-wave mixing(FWM)processes have recently attracted significant interest for all-optical signal processing applications thanks to the possibility to control the propagation properties of waves exciting distinct spatial modes of the same *** allows,in principle,to place signals in different spectral regions and satisfy the phase matching condition over considerably larger bandwidths compared to intramodal ***,the demonstrations reported so far have shown a limited bandwidth and suffered from the lack of on-chip components designed for broadband manipulation of different *** demonstrate here a silicon-rich silicon nitride wavelength converter based on Bragg scattering intermodal FWM,which integrates mode conversion,multiplexing and de-multiplexing functionalities *** system enables wavelength conversion between pump waves and a signal located in different telecommunication bands(separated by 60 nm)with a 3 dB bandwidth exceeding 70 nm,which represents,to our knowledge,the widest bandwidth ever achieved in an intermodal FWM-based system.

Many applications, including optical multiplexing, switching, and detection, call for low-cost and broadband photonic devices with polarization-independent operation. While the silicon-on-insulator platform is well positioned to fulfill most of these requirements, its strong birefringence hinders the development of polarizationagnostic devices. Here we leverage the recently proposed bricked metamaterial topology to design, for the first time, to our knowledge, a polarization-independent 2 × 2 multimode interference coupler using standard 220 nm silicon thickness. Our device can be fabricated with a single etch step and is optimized for the O-band,covering a wavelength range of 160 nm with excess loss, polarization-dependent loss, and imbalance below 1 dB and phase errors of less than 5°, as demonstrated with full three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain simulations.

Optical phase shifters are extensively used in integrated optics not only for telecom and datacom applications but also for sensors and quantum *** various active solutions have been demonstrated,progress in passive phase shifters is still *** we present a new type of ultra-broadband 90°phase shifter,which exploits the anisotropy and dispersion engineering in subwavelength metamaterial *** Floquet–Bloch calculations predict a phase-shift error below 1.7°over an unprecedented operation range from 1.35 to 1.75μm,i.e.,400 nm bandwidth covering the E,S,C,L,and U telecommunication *** flat spectral response of our phase shifter is maintained even in the presence of fabrication errors up to 20 nm,showing greater robustness than conventional *** device was experimentally demonstrated using standard220 nm thick SOI wafers,showing a fourfold reduction in the phase variation compared to conventional phase shifters within the 145 nm wavelength range of our measurement *** proposed subwavelength engineered phase shifter paves the way for novel photonic integrated circuits with an ultra-broadband performance.

We propose a technique to assess the vulnerability of the power system state estimation. We aim at identifying the measurements that have a high potential of being the target of false data injection attacks. From the perspective of the adversary, such measurements have the following characteristics: ① being influential on the variable estimates;② corrupting their measured values is likely to be undetected. Additionally, such characteristics should not change significantly with the system operation condition. The proposed technique provides a systematic way of identifying the measurements with such characteristics. We illustrate our methodology on a 4-bus system, the New England 39-bus system, and the IEEE 118-bus test system, respectively.

Effect of full-fat sunflower or flaxseed seeds dietary inclusion on performance,egg yolk fatty acid profile and egg quality in laying hens

A study was conducted to evaluate the effect of the dietary inclusion of full-fat flaxseed of full-fat sunflower seeds on performance parameters,egg quality parameters and egg yolk fatty acid profile in laying hens.A total of 150 Babcock Brown hens at 27 weeks of age were distributed in 3 experimental treatments,as follows:T1,control;T2,diet containing 13.5% full-fat whole flaxseed seeds;and T3,diet containing 13.5% full-fat ground sunflower *** and water were provided ad libitum and the experiment lasted for 8 *** significant differences were found on egg quality parameters,but total egg production and rate of lay were significantly(p p receiving sunflower seeds compared with the control,and significant differences(p polyunsaturated,omega-6(n-6) and omega-3(n-3) fatty acids were observed,as well as in the n-6:n-3 *** results show that the dietary inclusion of 13.5% flaxseed full-fat seeds significantly increases the n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid(pUFA) content in the eggs and lowers the n-6:n-3 ratio without affecting performance *** of full-fat sunflower seeds increases the n-6 pUFA content but affects total egg production and rate of *** studies are needed to determine the level of inclusion of full-fat sunflower seeds that does not affect performance.

Objective: To study the main clinical and histopathological features of 12 patients with Hodgkin's lymphoma(HL) diagnosed primarily from bone marrow(BM) ***: We included 12 acquired immunodeficiency syndrome(AIDS) patients with HL assisted in the F. j. Mu?iz Infectious Diseases Hospital since january 2002 to December 2013. The diagnosis of HL with primary BM involvement in patients was confirmed by clinical, histopathological, and immunohistochemical ***: All patients presented "B" symptoms and pancytopenia. All of them had stage IV neoplasm disease because of BM infiltration. The median of CD4+ T-cell counts was 114 cells/μL, and mixed cellularity(MC) was the most frequent histopathological subtype of 92% ***: When other causes are excluded, BM biopsy should be performed in AIDS patients with "B" symptoms and pancytopenia to evaluate BM infiltration by atypical lymphocytes.

Overexpression of neurotrophic factors in nigral dopamine neurons is a promising approach to reverse neurodegeneration of the nigrostriatal dopamine system,a hallmark in parkinson's *** human cerebral dopamine neurotrophic factor(h CDNF)has recently emerged as a strong candidate for parkinson's disease *** study shows that h CDNF expression in dopamine neurons using the neurotensinpolyplex nanoparticle system reverses 6-hydroxydopamine-induced morphological,biochemical,and behavioral *** independent electron microscopy techniques showed that the neurotensin-polyplex nanoparticles containing the h CDNF gene,ranging in size from 20 to 150 nm,enabled the expression of a secretable h CDNF in *** injection in the substantia nigra compacta on day 21 after the 6-hydroxydopamine lesion resulted in detectable h CDNF in dopamine neurons,whose levels remained constant throughout the study in the substantia nigra compacta and *** with the lesioned group,tyrosine hydroxylase-positive(TH^(+))nigral cell population and TH+fiber density rose in the substantia nigra compacta and striatum after h CDNF *** increase inβIII-tubulin and growth-associated protein 43 phospho-S41(GAp43 p)followed TH^(+)cell recovery,as well as dopamine and its catabolite *** reversal(80%)of drugactivated circling behavior and full recovery of spontaneous motor and non-motor behavior were ***-derived neurotrophic factor recovery in dopamine neurons that also occurred suggests its participation in the neurotrophic *** findings support the potential of nanoparticle-mediated h CDNF gene delivery to develop a disease-modifying treatment against parkinson's *** Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee of Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados approved our experimental procedures for animal use(authorization No.162-15)on june 9,2019.

Objective:Brain metastasis is considered rare in metastatic colorectal cancer(mCRC);thus,surveillance imaging does not routinely include the *** reported incidence of brain metastases ranges from 0.6% to 3.2%.Methods:The South Australian mCRC Registry(SAmCRC)was analyzed to assess the number of patients presenting with brain metastasis during their *** to small numbers,a descriptive analysis is ***:Only 59 patients of 4,100 on the registry at the time of analysis had developed brain metastasis(1.4%).The clinical characteristics of those with brain metastasis were as follows:the median age was 65.3 years and 51% were *** the V-Ki-ras2 Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog(KRAS)mutation status of the tumor was known,the majority harbored a KRAS mutation(55%);31(53%)underwent craniotomy and 55(93%)underwent whole-brain *** median survival time from diagnosis of brain metastasis was 4.2 months(95% confidence interval 2.9–5.5).patients who underwent craniotomy and radiotherapy had superior survival compared to those who underwent whole-brain radiotherapy(8.5 months vs.2.2 months,respectively).Data from the SAmCRC(a population-based registry)confirm that brain metastases are rare and the median time to development is approximately 2 ***:Brain metastasis is a rare outcome in advanced *** within the registry tended to be female,young in age,and harbored with higher rates of KRAS *** routine surveillance brain scanning should be considered remains controversial given the relative rarity of developing brain metastases in mCRC and ultimately,most patients with central nervous system involvement die from their extracranial disease.
