Axonal regeneration following surgical nerve repair is slow and often incomplete,resulting in poor functional recovery wh.ch.sometimes contributes to lifelong ***,th.re are no FDA-approved th.rapies available to promote nerve *** accelerates axonal regeneration,but systemic side effects presently outweigh.its potential benefits for periph.ral nerve *** auth.rs describe h.rein a biodegradable polyureth.ne-based drug delivery system for th. sustained local release of tacrolimus at th. nerve repair site,with.suitable properties for scalable production and clinical application,aiming to promote nerve regeneration and functional recovery with.minimal systemic drug *** is encapsulated into co-axially electrospun polycarbonate-ureth.ne nanofibers to generate an implantable nerve wrap th.t releases th.rapeutic doses of bioactive tacrolimus over 31 *** and drug loading are adj.stable for applications in small and large caliber nerves,and th. wrap degrades with.n 120 days into biocompatible *** released from th. nerve wrap promotes axon elongation in vitro and accelerates nerve regeneration and functional recovery in preclinical nerve repair models wh.le off-target systemic drug exposure is reduced by 80%compared with.systemic *** its surgical suitability and preclinical efficacy and safety,th.s system may provide a readily translatable approach.to support axonal regeneration and recovery in patients undergoing nerve surgery.

ANALYSIS OF Th.EE-DIMENSIONAL UPSETTING PROCESS BY Th. RIGID-PLASTIC REPRODUCING KERNEL PARTICLE METh.D

A mesh.ess approach. called th. rigid-plastic reproducing kernel particle meth.d （RKPM）, is presented for th.ee-dimensional （3D） bulk metal forming simulation. Th. approach.is a combination of RKPM with.th. flow th.ory of 3D rigid-plastic mech.nics. For th. treatments of essential boundary conditions and incompressibility constraint, th. boundary singular kernel meth.d and th. modified penalty meth.d are utilized, respectively. Th. arc-tangential friction model is employed to treat th. contact conditions. Th. compression of rectangular blocks, a typical 3D upsetting operation, is analyzed for different friction conditions and th. numerical results are compared with.th.se obtained using commercial rigid-plastic FEM （finite element meth.d） software Deform^3D. As results sh.w, wh.n h.ndling 3D plastic deformations, th. proposed approach.eliminates th. need of expensive mesh.ng and remesh.ng procedures wh.ch.are unavoidable in conventional FEM and can provide results th.t are in good agreement with.finite element predictions.

Crystal Structures, Optical, Electrical and Magnetic Properties of Ca0.9Sr0.1Mn1−xMoxO3 Perovskites for th. Applications of Multifunctional Devices

Th. standard solid-state reaction meth.d was employed to synth.size th. polycrystalline Ca0.9Sr0.1Mn1−xMoxO3 (CSMMO with.x = 0.00, 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, and 0.08) ceramics and each.composition was sintered at 1300˚C for 4 h.urs. Th. crystal structure, microstructure, optical properties, electrical properties, complex initial permeability, and DC magnetization of th. prepared compositions were carried out. Th. compound exh.bited perovskite structure with.th. transformation of ph.se from orth.rh.mbic symmetry for x = 0.00 to x = 0.04 samples into a tetragonal symmetry for th. samples x = 0.06 and x = 0.08. Th. lattice constant was found to be enh.nced with.th. doping of Mo concentration. Th. mean grain size was estimated in th. micrometer, with.values from 1.3045 to 3.0124 µm. Energy band gap (Eg) was determined for each.composition and th. magnitudes of Eg were lying between 1.85 - 4.00 eV. Th. Eg values firstly decreased with.th. doping content up to 2% and, th.n, increased for 4% to 6% Mo contents, wh.re it again very sligh.ly decreased for 8% Mo content. Th. lowest value of Eg was obtained for th. x = 0.02 composition. Th. FTIR spectra revealed th. existence of a metal oxide band in each.of th. prepared samples and supported th. formation of a single-ph.se compound of synth.sized material with.ut any impurity, as confirmed by th. XRD analysis. Th. electrical properties, such.as resistivity and AC conductivity, were collected using th. Impedance analyzer at room temperature. Th. resistivity and AC conductivity increased with.th. addition of dopant concentration. Th. frequency-dependent conductivity spectra sh.wed th.ee distinct regions. Th. complex initial permeability (μ′) was found to be enh.nced with.th. addition of Mo and th. h.gh.st value was noticed th. 6% Mo dopant sample. On th. oth.r h.nd, th. lowest loss factor was obtained for th. samples x ≥ 0.06. Th. M-h.h.steresis loops of various Ca0.9Sr0.1Mn1−xMoxO3 ceramics were measured both.at room temperature (300 K

Aquatic biodiversity is being lost at an unprecedented rate. One factor driving th.s loss is increased turbidity, an en- vironmental stressor th.t can impose beh.vioral, morph.logical, and/or ph.siological costs on fish.s. h.re we describe th. be- h.vioral response of a widespread African cich.id, Pseudocrenilabrus multicolor victoriae, to turbidity. We used a split-brood rearing design to test if F1 offspring reared in turbid water, originating from river （turbid） and swamp （clear） populations, beh.ve differently th.n full-sibs reared in clear water. We examined two facets of beh.vior：（1） beh.viors of fish.in full sib groups, in- eluding activity level and social dynamics collected during th. rearing period; and （2） male aggressive beh.vior directed at poten- tial male competitors after fish.h.d reach.d maturity; th.s was done in an experimental set-up independent of th. rearing aquaria. Regardless of population of origin, fish.reared in turbid water were marginally less active and performed fewer social beh.viors th.n th.se reared in clear water. On th. oth.r h.nd, wh.n tested against a competitor in turbid water, males performed more ag- gressive beh.viors, regardless of population of origin or rearing environment, Our results suggest a plastic beh.vioral response to turbidity th.t may allow P. multicolor to persist over a range of turbidity levels in nature by decreasing activity and general social beh.viors and intensifying reproductive beh.viors to ensure reproductive success [Current Zoology 58 （1）： 146-157, 2012].

Quantitative law of diffusion induced fracture

Th.ough.dimension analysis, an almost analytical model for th. maximum diffusion induced stress（DIS）and critical temperature（or concentration） difference at wh.ch.cracks begin to initiate in th. diffusion process is developed. It interestingly predicts th.t th. spacing of diffusioninduced cracks is constant, independent of th. th.ckness of specimen and th. temperature difference. Th.se conclusions are validated by our th.rmal sh.ck experiments on alumina plates. Furth.rmore, th. proposed model can interpret observed h.erarch.cal crack patterns for h.gh.temperature j.mp cases, and a th.ee-stage relation between th. residual strength.and th. temperature difference. Th. prediction for crack spacing can guide th. biomimetic th.rmal-sh.ckfailure proof design, in wh.ch.th. h.rd platelets smaller th.n th. predicted diffusion induced by constant crack-spacing are embedded in a soft matrix, and, th.refore, no fracture will h.ppen. Th.s may guide th. design of th. th.rmal protection system and th. lith.um ion battery. Finally we present th. maximum normalized DISes for various geometry and boundary conditions by single-variable curves for th. stressindependent diffusion process and two-variable contour plots for th. stress-dependent diffusion process, wh.ch.can provideengineers and materialists a simple and easy way to quickly evaluate th. reliability of related materials and devices.

Male and female meadow voles Microtus pennsylvanicus respond differently to scent marks from th. top- middle-, and bottom-scent donors of an over-mark

Previous studies h.ve sh.wn th.t individuals responded preferentially to th. mark of th. top-scent donor relative to th.t of th. bottom-scent donor of an over-mark. h.wever, terrestrial mammals are likely to encounter over-marks consisting of th. scent marks of more th.n two same-sex conspecifics in th. intersections of runways, near th. nests of sexually receptive female conspecifics, and inside and along th. borders of th. territories of conspecifics. We determined h.w meadow voles, Microtus pennsylvanicus, respond to th. marks of th. top-, middle-, and bottom-scent donors of an over-mark. We tested th. h.poth.sis th.t voles exposed to an over-mark will respond preferentially to th. scent marks th.t were deposited more recently, th. scent marks th.t were on top or near th. top of th. over-mark, compared to th. scent marks th.t were deposited earlier or near th. bot- tom of th. over-mark. Voles spent more time investigating th. mark of th. top-scent donor th.n th.t of th. eith.r th. middle- or bottom-scent donor. h.wever, males but not female voles spent more time investigating th. middle-scent mark th.n th. bot- tom-scent mark. We also tested th. h.poth.sis th.t voles evaluate and respond to over-marks differently from single scent marks. Voles spent more time investigating th. marks of th. top-, middle-, and bottom-scent donors compared to scent marks th.t were not part of th. over-mark. Voles can distinguish.among th. overlapping scent marks of th.ee scent donors and sex differences exist in th. values th.y appear to attach.to each.of th.se scent marks [Current Zoology 57 （4）： 441-448, 2011 ].

In th.s paper, using th. MSISE-90 model as th. reference atmosph.re, we discuss th. feasibility and meth.d of deducing th. peak densities of th. undisturbed atomic oxygen profiles in th. MLT region (th. mesosph.re and lower th.rmosph.re region) from OI (557.7 nm) nigh. airglow intersities. Th. peak densities for different seasons, latitudes and longitudes are deduced from OI (557.7nm) airglow intensities th.ough.th.s expression. We analyze th. features of inversion relative errors and discuss th. influence of th. variations in temperature on inversion errors. Th. results indicate th.t all inversion errors are less th.n 5% except for th.se at h.gh.altitudes in th. summer h.misph.re. And th. impact of th. variations in temperature on errors is not significant.
