Background. Violence against women has become an international public health and.human rights issue in recent d.cad.s. The violence suffered.by sex workers is of little interest for research, yet it constitutes a maj.r health and.safety problem. We propose to assess the extent of the phenomenon of gend.r-based.violence (GBV) among sex workers (SWs) in the city of Bangui in the CAR. Method.logy: This is a d.scriptive cross-sectional epid.miological stud. covering the period.from j.ly to October 2021 carried.out among SWs in Bangui, the capital of the CAR. Given that the SWs association had.only 159 members in Bangui, an exhaustive sampling was retained. Were includ.d.in the stud., any SW present d.ring the d.ta collection period.and.having given their written consent. The parameters stud.ed.were socio-d.mographic characteristics: age, sex, resid.nce, level of ed.cation, marital status, and.characteristics linked.to violence: the notion of violence d.ring their professional activity, the type of violence, the d.claration and.the d.claration if necessary, the response and.management of this violence. The d.ta collected.was analyzed.using Epi info version 7 software. Results: Of the 159 SWs that counted.the association, 108 had.been includ.d. The average age was 27.0 years with extremes of 14 and.46 years. The age groups of 25 to 34 years were the most represented.(43.5%). Fifty-six SWs (51.9%) had.reached.the second.ry level. Unemployed.SWs were in the maj.rity at 74.1%;Sixty-six (66) SWs in our sample (61.1%) had.alread. been victims of violence d.ring the exercise of their activity Sexual violence was the most represented.(28.5%) followed.by verbal violence (22.4%). Sixty-eight (62.9%) wanted.to stop the professional activity of SWs and.93.1% would.accept another income-generating activity in place of sex work. Conclusion: It is necessary to supervise SWs and.protect them within the framework of respect for human rights, rather than criminalizing them and.the exploit

Hyd.oxyapatite (HAP) porous microspheres with very high specific surface area and.d.ug load.ng capacity, as well as excellent biocompatibility, have been wid.ly used.in tumour therapy. Mg2+ is consid.red.to be a key factor in bone regeneration, acting as an active agent to stimulate bone and.cartilage formation, and.is effective in accelerating cell migration and.promoting angiogenesis, which is essential for bone tissue repair, anti-cancer, and.anti-infection. In this stud., abalone shells from a variety of sources were used.as raw materials, and.Mg2+-d.ped.abalone shell-d.rived.mesoporous HAP microspheres (Mg-HAP) were prepared.by hyd.othermal synthesis as Mg2+/icariin smart d.al d.livery system (ICA-Mg-HAP, IMHA). With increasing of Mg2+ d.ping, the surface morphology of HAP microspheres varied.from collapsed.macroporous to mesoporous to smooth and.non-porous, which may be d.e to Mg2+ substitution or coord.nation in the HAP lattice. At 30% Mg2+ d.ping, the Mg-HAP microspheres showed.a more homogeneous mesoporous morphology with a high specific surface area (186.06 m2/g). The IMHA microspheres showed.high d.ug load.ng (7.69%) and.encapsulation rate (83.29%), sustained.Mg2+ release for more than 27 d.ys, sustained.and.stable release of icariin for 60 hours, and.good.responsiveness to pH (pH 6.4 > pH 5.6). In ad.ition, the IMHA d.livery system stimulated.the rapid.proliferation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells and.ind.ced.apoptosis in MG63 cells by blocking the G2 phase cycle of osteosarcoma cells and.stimulating the high expression of apoptotic genes (Bcl-2, caspase-3,-8,-9). This stud. focuses on the use of heavy fuel oil in construction material in Burkina Faso. Its mixture with silty or clayey soil is used.as a coating to reinforce the walls of raw earth constructions which are very sensitive to water. The interest of this stud. is to d.termine erod.bility, water content, while highlighting the influence of the porosity accessible by water on thermal d.ffusion in construction material containing heavy fuel oil. The heavy fuel oil was mixed.with a silty-clayey soil, in d.fferent proportions, and.water to make bricks samples on which tests were carried.out. At the end.of the experimental tests, it appears that the water content increases grad.ally, but not significantly with the ad.ition of heavy fuel oil, which causes a slight increase in the speed.of heat propagation through the material with red.ced.porosity, particularly those containing higher quantities of heavy fuel oil. Conversely, we note a good.performance of heavy fuel oil in terms of water resistance properties such as porosity accessible by water and.erod.bility. This allows us to conclud. that the mixture of heavy fuel oil and.silty-clayey soil used.as a coating material could.greatly red.ce water infiltration into the walls of housing constructions with raw earthen materials.

This paper explains various factors that contribute to saltwater intrusion, includ.ng overexploitation of freshwater resources and.climate change as well as the d.fferent techniques essential for effective saltwater intrusion management. The impact of saltwater intrusion along coastal regions and.its impact on the environment, hyd.ogeology and.ground.ater contamination. It suggests potential solutions to mitigate the impact of saltwater intrusion, includ.ng effective water management and.techniques for managing SWI. The application of A.I (assessment ind.x) serves as a guid.line to correctly id.ntify wells with SWI ranging from no intrusion, slight intrusion and.strong intrusion. The challenges of saltwater intrusion in Lagos and.the salinization of wells were investigated.using the hyd.o-chemical parameters. The stud. id.ntifies four wells (“AA”, “CMS”, “OBA” and.“VIL”) as having high electric cond.ctivities, ind.cating saline water intrusion, while other wells (“EBM”, “IKj. and.“IKO”) with lower electric cond.ctivities, ind.cate little or no salt-water intrusion, and.“Aj. well shows slight intrusion. The elevation of the wells also played.a vital role in the SWI across coastal regions of Lagos. The stud. recommend. continuous monitoring of coastal wells to help sustain and.red.ce saline intrusion. The find.ngs of the stud. are important for policymakers, researchers, and.practitioners who are interested.in ad.ressing the challenges of saltwater intrusion along coastal regions. We assessed.the SWI across the eight (8) wells using the Assessment Ind.x to id.ntify wells with SWI. Wells in “CMS” and.“VIL” has strong intrusions. A proposed.classification system based.on specific ion ratios categorizes water quality from good.(+) to highly (-) contaminated.(refer to Table 4). These find.ngs und.rscore the need.for attention and.effective management strategies to ad.ress ground.ater unsuitability for various purposes.
