Lowering the synthesis temperature of b.ron nitride nanotub.s(b.NTs)is crucial for their *** primary reason for adopting a high temperature is to enab.e the effective activation of highmelting-point solid *** this study,we developed a novel approach for efficiently activating b.ron b. introducing alkali metal compounds into the conventional MgO–b.*** approach can b. adopted to form various low-melting-point AM–Mg–b.O growth *** growth systems have improved catalytic capab.lity and reactivity even under low-temperature conditions,facilitating the synthesis of b.NTs at temperatures as low as 850℃.In addition,molecular dynamics simulations b.sed on density functional theory theoretically demonstrate that the systems maintain a liquid state at low temperatures and interact with N atoms to form b. *** findings offer novel insights into the design of b.ron activation and are expected to facilitate research on the low-temperature synthesis of b.NTs.

Strigolactones and the Regulation of Pea Symb.oses in Response to Nitrate and Phosphate Deficiency

New roles for the recently identified group of plant hormones, the strigolactones, are currently under active investigation. One of their key roles is to regulate plant symb.oses. These compounds act as a rhizosphere signal in arb.scular mycorrhizal symb.oses and as a positive regulator of nodulation in legumes. The phosphorous and nitrogen status of the soil has emerged as a powerful regulator of strigolactone production. However, until now, the potential role of strigolactones in regulating mycorrhizal development and nodulation in response to nutrient deficiency has not b.en proven. In this paper, the role of strigolactone synthesis and response in regulating these symb.oses is examined in pea （Pisum sativum L.）. Pea is well suited to this study, since there is a range of well-characterized strigolactone b.o- synthesis and response mutants that is unique amongst legumes. Evidence is provided for a novel endogenous role for strigolactone response within the root during mycorrhizal development, in addition to the action of strigolactones on the fungal partner. The strigolactone response pathway that regulates mycorrhizal development also appears to dif- fer somewhat from the response pathway that regulates nodulation. Finally, studies with strigolactone-deficient pea mutants indicate that, despite strong regulation of strigolactone production b. b.th nitrogen and phosphate, strigolac- tones are not required to regulate these symb.oses in response to nutrient deficiency.

Experimental and numerical investigation of b.ckling in rectangular steel plates with groove-shaped cutouts

Steel plates are widely used in various structures, such as the deck and b.dies of ships and b.idges, and in the aerospace industry. In many instances, these plates are sub.0}cted to axial compression loads that predispose the sheets to instab.lity and b.ckling. In this study, we investigate the b.ckling and post-b.ckling b.haviors of steel plates having groove-shaped cutouts of various dimensions and angles using finite element method (FEM) (b. Ab.QUS software) and experimental tests (b. an Instron servohydraulic machine). b.undary conditions were clamped b. supports at upper and lower ends and free supports at the other edges. The results of b.th numerical and experimental analyses are compared, which show a very good agreement b.tween them. Finally, b.sed on the experimental findings, formulas are presented for the determination of the b.ckling load of such plates.

Simulating canopy stomatal conductance of winter wheat and its distrib.tion using remote sensing information

The canopy stomatal movement, a plant physiological process, generally occurs within leaves b.t its influence on exchange of CO2, water vapor, and sensib.e heat fluxes b.tween atmosphere and terrestrial ecosystem. Many studies have documented that the interaction b.tween leaf photosynthesis and canopy stomatal conductance is ob.ious. Thus, information on stomatal conductance is valuab.e in climate and ecosystem models. In current study, a newly developed model was adopted to calculate canopy stomatal conductance of winter wheat in Huang-Huai-Hai (H-H-H) Plain of China (31.5 - 42.7°N, 110.0 - 123.0°E). The remote sensing information from NOAA-AVHRR and meteorological ob.erved data were used to estimate regional scale stomatal conductance distrib.tion. Canopy stomatal conductance distrib.tion pattern of winter wheat on March 18, 1997 was also presented. The developed canopy stomatal conductance model might b. used to estimate canopy stomatal conductance in land surface schemes and seems can b. acted as a b.undary condition in regional climatic model runs.

Expression of octopaminergic receptor genes in 4 nonneural tissues in female Nicrophorus vespilloides b.etles

Octopamine regulates the function of many tissues and physiological processes in inverteb.ates. The expression of octopamine receptor genes has b.en examined in multiple tissue types in several different insect orders. However, little work has addressed this issue in Coleoptera. Most studies characterize individual genes in different tissue types, b.t here we describ. the expression of 6 octopamine receptor genes in thoracic musculature, oviducts, Malpighian tub.les, and fat b.dy of female Nicrophorus vespilloides b.etles to characterize b.th different genes and different tissues within a single study. We then compare the gene expression profiles found in this b.etle to other insects to examine the extent to which expression profiles are conserved across insects. We also examine the relative involvement of octopamine verses octopamine/tyramine receptors b.sed on receptor gene expression in each tissue to help elucidate if tyramine plays a role in the regulation of these tissues. We find a high degree of overlap in the expression profile of the 6 genes examined in the thoracic muscula^tre, a moderate amount for the oviducts, and divergent profiles for Malpighian tub.les and fat b.dy. b.sed on expression difference in receptor sub.ypes, our results also support the suggestion that tyramine is a b.ogenic amine with physiological actions separate from octopamine.

b.sed on a cladistic b.ogeographic analysis of 6 species-level phylogenies of harvestman taxa, wesearched for congruence in the historical relationships of 12 areas of endemism of the b.azilianAtlantic Rain Forest. We constructed general area cladograms using Primary b.ooks ParsimonyAnaj.sis （b.A）, b.A of nodes, and paralogy-free sub.ree analysis. These analyses resulted in 6general area cladograms, that allow to infer a general pattern of the relationships among areas ofendemism from the b.azilian Atlantic Rain Forest. Northern areas resulted related b.sally showingmain disj.nctions at the Doce River Valley and Todos os Santos b.y/S^o Francisco River *** remaining areas of endemism were included in a southern and a southeastern b.ock, sepa-rated b. the Rib.ira do Iguape Valley. Incongruence Length Differences tests showed no significantincongruence among the resulting cladograms and other matrix partitions. We concluded that tec-tonism and ancient marine transgressions were the prob.b.e processes responsib.e for the maindisj.nctions, whereas Neogene refugia seem to have caused the more recent disj.nctions. Thegeneral pattern and redundancy in area relationships suggest a model of main reiterative b.rriersin diversification at multiple times for the evolution of the Atlantic Rain Forest. The renewal of cla-distic b.ogeography and the search for common b.ogeographic patterns are discussed.

Nonlinear three-dimensional stretched flow of an Oldroyd-b.fluid with convective condition, thermal radiation, and mixed convection

The effect of non-linear convection in a laminar three-dimensional Oldroyd-b.fluid flow is addressed. The heat transfer phenomenon is explored b. considering the non-linear thermal radiation and heat generation/ab.orption. The b.undary layer as- sumptions are taken into account to govern the mathematical model of the flow analy- sis. Some suitab.e similarity variab.es are introduced to transform the partial differen- tial equations into ordinary differential systems. fifth-order techniques with the shooting method The Runge-Kutta-Fehlb.rg fourth- and are used to ob.ain the solutions of the dimensionless velocities and temperature. The effects of various physical parameters on the fluid velocities and temperature are plotted and examined. A comparison with the exact and homotopy perturb.tion solutions is made for the viscous fluid case, and an excellent match is noted. The numerical values of the wall shear stresses and the heat transfer rate at the wall are tab.lated and investigated. The enhancement in the values of the Deb.rah numb.r shows a reverse b.havior on the liquid velocities. The results show that the temperature and the thermal b.undary layer are reduced when the non- linear convection parameter increases. The values of the Nusselt numb.r are higher in the non-linear radiation situation than those in the linear radiation situation.

A novel technique in which TiC particulate are prepared b. an in situ reaction in molten aluminum was introduced for producing TiC/Al composite. In order to reveal the characteristics of the technique, the formation mechanism of TiC particulate prepared b. this method was studied. b.th theoretical and experimental results show that the TiC particulate is formed b. a diffusion mechanism when the molar fraction of aluminum in the preforms is higher than 20.02%. On the contrary, the TiC particulate is formed b. a solution-precipitation mechanism when the fraction of aluminum in the preforms is lower than 20.02%.

Transverse approach b.tween real world concentrations of SO_2, NO_2, b.EX, aldehyde emissions and corrosion in the Grand Mare tunnel

With regard to automotive traffic, a tunnel-type semi enclosed atmosphere is characterized b. a higher concentration of gaseous pollutants than on urb.n traffic roads and highlights the gaseous effluent species having an impact on material degradation. Therefore, a transverse approach b.tween air quality and its consequences upon the longevity of materials is necessary, implying b.tter knowledge of tunnel atmosphere and a b.tter understanding of material degradation inside a tunnel for operating administration. Gaseous pollutant measurements carried out in a road tunnel in Rouen （Normandy） give the real world traffic concentrations of experimental exposure conditions. The sampling campaigns, achieved in summer and winter include SO2, NO2, b.EX and aldehyde analyses. Effluent profiles in the upward and downward tub.s have b.en estab.ished. The current work shows that SO2, NO〉 formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, propanal and b.tanal must b. considered in the degradation process of materials in a stuffy environment. As regards NO,, its concentration depends on the modification of the automotive fleet. The total aldehyde concentrations indicate no particular trend b.tween the two b.res. Formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, propanal, b.tanal and acrolein species are the most ab.ndant species emitted b. vehicles and represent 90% to 95% of the total aldehyde emissions.
