A new species, Dactylolabis （Eobothrophorus） hoffeinsorum sp. nov. from the Baltic amber is described, based on one male. The distinctive characters are the shape of the discal cell in the wing and the shape of the process on tergite IX. The description of Dactylolabis （Eobothrophorus） lauryni Podenas, 2003 is amended, based on an additional specimen. With the new species added herein, the number of species of this subgenus totals four. The wing venation, antennae, and tergal processes of all four species of the subgenus described from the Baltic amber are compared.

AIM： To evaluate the effect of antiviral treatment on plasma levels of transforming growth factor-β1 （TGF-β1）, metalloproteinase 1 （MMP-1）, and tissue inhibitor of metaUoproteinase-1 （TIMP-1） in patients with chronic hepatitis C. METHODS： TGF-β1, MMP-1, and TIMP-1 plasma concentrations were measured by an enzyme immunoassay in 28 patients, during 48 wk of treatment with pegylated interferon-alpha 2b （PEG-IFN-α2b） plus ribavirin （rBV） and after 24 wk of follow-up. Patients were divided into two groups： responders （r） and non-responders （Nr） related to achieved sustained virologic response. Normal values were evaluated in plasma samples of 13 healthy volunteers. rESULTS： Baseline plasma concentrations of TGF-β1 and TIMP-1 （30.9±3.7 and 1 506±61 ng/mL respectively） measured in all subjects significantly exceeded the normal values （TGF-β1： 18.3±1.6 ng/mL and TIMP-1： 1 102±67 ng/mL）. In contrast, pretreatment MMP-1 mean level （6.5±0.9 ng/mL） was significantly lower than normal values （11.9±0.9 ng/mL）. response to the treatment was observed in 12 patients （43%）. TGF-β1 mean concentration measured during the treatment phase decreased to the control level in both groups. However at wk 72, values of Nr patients increased and became significantly higher than in r group. TIMP-1 concentrations in r group decreased during the treatment to the level similar to normal. In Nr group, TIMP-1 remained significantly elevated during treatment and follow-up phase and significant difference between both groups was demonstrated at wk 48 and 72. MMP-1 levels were significantly decreased in both groups at baseline. Treatment caused rise of its concentration only in the r group, whereas values in Nr group remained on the level similar to baseline. Statistically significant difference between groups was noted at wk 48 and 72. CONCLUSION： These findings support the usefulness of TGF-β1, TIMP-1, and MMP-1 in the management of chronic hepatitis C. Disturbances in the metabolism of lipoprotein profiles and oxidative stress in hemodialyzed （HD） and post-renal transplant （Tx） patients are proatherogenic, but elevated concentrations of plasma high-density lipoprotein （HDL） reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. We investigated the concentrations of lipid, lipoprotein, HDL particle, oxidized low-density lipoprotein （ox-LDL） and anti-ox-LDL, and paraoxonase-1 （PON-1） activity in HD （n=33） and Tx （n=71） patients who were non-smokers without active inflammatory disease, liver disease, diabetes, or malignancy. HD patients had moderate hypertriglyceridemia, normocholesterolemia, low HDL-C, apolipoprotein A-I （apoA-I） and HDL particle concentrations as well as PON-1 activity, and increased ox-LDL and anti-ox-LDL levels. Tx patients had hypertriglyceridemia, hypercholesterolemia, moderately decreased HDL-C and HDL particle concentrations and PON-1 activity, and moderately increased ox-LDL and anti-ox-LDL levels as compared to the reference, but ox-LDL and anti-ox-LDL levels and PON-1 activity were more disturbed in HD patients. However, in both patient groups, lipid and lipoprotein ratios （total cholesterol （TC）/HDL-C, LDL-C/HDL-C, triglyceride （TG）/HDL-C, HDL-C/non-HDL-C, apoA-I/apoB, HDL-C/apoA-I, TG/HDL） were atherogenic. The Spearman＇s rank coefficient test showed that the concentration of ox-LDL correlated positively with HDL particle level （r=0.363, P=0.004）, and negatively with TC （r=-0.306, P=0.012）, LDL-C （r=-0.283, P=0.020）, and non-HDL-C （r=-0.263, P=0.030） levels in Tx patients. Multiple stepwise forward regression analysis in Tx patients demonstrated that ox-LDL concentration, as an independent variable, was associated significantly positively with HDL particle level. The results indicated that ox-LDL and de- creased PON-1 activity in Tx patients may give rise to more mildly-oxidized HDLs, which are less stable, easily undergo metabolic remodeling, generate a greater number of smaller pre-13-HDL particle

This study presents direct 2D and 3D co-culture model of mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)line with chondrocytes isolated from patients with osteoarthritis(unaffected area).MSCs differentiation into chondrocytes after 14,17 days was checked by estimation of collagen Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅹ,aggrecan expression using ***,localization of cells on Hyaff-11 was performed using enzymatic technique and THUNDEr Imaging *** showed,that MSCs/chondrocytes 3D co-culture induced suitable conditions for chondrocytes grow and MSCs differentiation than 2D *** that differentiated cells on Hyaff-11 expressed collagen Ⅹ,they showed high collagen Ⅱ(80%)and aggrecan(60%)expression with simultaneous decrease of collagen Ⅰ expression(10%).The high concentration of differentiated cells on Hyaff-11,indicate that this structure has an impact on cells cooperation and *** conclusion,we suggest that high expression of collagen Ⅱ and aggrecan in 3D co-culture model,indicate that cooperation between different subpopulations may have synergistic impact on MSCs chondrogenic *** the high concentration and localization of cells growing in deeper layers of membrane in 3D co-culture,indicate that induced microenvironmental enhance cell migration within ***,we suggest that co-culture model might be useful for construction a bioactive structure for cartilage tissue regeneration.

The European beaver (Castor fiber L.) is the largest free-living rode nt in Eurasia. The prese nt work aimed to determi ne sex- and seas on-related cha nges in leptin receptor (Ob-r) expression in the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal/adrenal axes and uterus of beavers during breeding-(April), postbreeding-(July), and pre-breeding-(November) periods. The expression of Ob-r gene and protein was found in all analyzed tissues. The expression of Ob-r mrNA remained constant in the hypothalamus of both sexes during the analyzed stages. Sex- and season-related changes were found in the pituitary gland;the greatest level was observed in July in both sexes. The same expression pattern was noted in the testis, whereas in the ovary a lack of seasonal changes was found. In uterine tissues, the greatest expression occurred in November. The impact of season was also demonstrated in the adrenal cortex. In females, a higher Ob-r transcript level was noted in April, while in males, an increased mrNA abundanee was noted in November than July. Our study suggests that in the beaver, leptin acting via the Ob-r can be an important endocrine factor engaged in the regulation of reproductive functions and stress response.

To evaluate circulating IL9 in inflammatory bowel disease and disease-associated anemia/cachexia and assess its potential as a mucosal healing *** IL9 as well as other cytokines (IL1β, IL6, IL13, IFNγ, TNFα, and VEGF-A) were determined in 293 individuals: 97 patients with Crohn’s disease (CD) and 74 with ulcerative colitis (UC) and in 122 apparently healthy controls. The clinical activity of CD and UC was expressed in terms of the Crohn’s Disease Activity Index (CDAI) and the Mayo Scoring System (MDAI), respectively, and the severity of bowel inflammation in UC patients was assessed using Mayo endoscopic score. Cytokine concentrations were measured by a flow cytometry-based method using Luminex xMAP® technology. High-sensitive C-reactive protein concentrations (hsCrP) were determined in CD and UC patients using the enhanced immunoturbidimetric *** IL9 was significantly lower in healthy individuals [9 pg/mL (95%CI: 8.2-10)] than in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD): both inactive [14.3 pg/mL (11.9-19.9)] and active [27.6 pg/mL (24.5-32), P rations were significantly higher in active CD [27.4 pg/mL (23.4-32.2)] and in active UC [32.7 pg/mL (27-38.9)] compared to inactive diseases [15.9 pg/mL (10.8-23.4) in CD and 19.4 pg/mL (13.9-27.1) in UC, P = 0.001]. IL9 correlated weakly with CDAI (ρ = 0.32, P = 0.003) and MDAI (ρ = 0.35, P = 0.002) and strongly with endoscopic inflammation in UC (ρ = 0.74, P rker of mucosal healing (MH), IL9 had an accuracy superior to hsCrP and IL6 [97% (P respectively].
