The gravity field and gravity data reduction across the continental area of Nigeria

This research presents the variation of the gravity field and associated gravity field components over the continental area of Nigeria to provide data for geoscience research,geodetic and engineering works,aerodynamic studies and deep crustal *** positions and elevations were observed at 58 of the 59 base stations of the Primary Gravity Network of Nigeria(PGNN),whose absolute gravity values had been accurately *** absolute gravity values were plotted against their respective positions to reveal the distribution pattern and strength of the gravity field within the study *** gravity values at each base station were generated using the Somigliana's *** free-air gravity and free-air anomaly gravity values were generated with respect to the World Geodetic System 1984(WGS84)ellipsoid using GPS-derived elevation ***,the perturbing potential,free-air gravity with respect to the geoid,and the indirect effects were *** average of the indirect effects was used to adjust the WGS84 gravity formula to produce a gravity formula that better approximates the geoid across the continental area of Nigeria,compatible with the heights measured relative to the geoid,which can serve as a reference for establishing a vertical height *** Bouguer gravity and Bouguer gravity anomalies across Nigeria revealed a“trans-southern gravity high strip”interpreted to be associated with mantle *** new major mega-lineaments related to mantle upwelling were mapped.A batholith province trending NWeSE was delineated,occurring from north central Nigeria to the north western region and containing closures of“Bouguer gravity lows”interpreted as batholiths.A separate closure of“Bouguer gravity low”was detected at Azare,north eastern Nigeria,which may be due to the presence of intrusive granitic *** is recommended that the mantle structure beneath“the trans-southern gravity high strip”,“delineated batholith province”and“isolat

Potential of organic waste to energy and bio-fertilizer production in Sub-Saharan Africa:a review

Many growing cities of Sub-Saharan Africa(SSA)are marred by the inefficient collection,management,disposal and reuse of organic *** purpose of this study was to review and compare the energy recovery potential as well as bio-fertilizer perspective,from the organic waste volumes generated in SSA *** on computations made with a literature review,we find that the amount of organic wastes varies across countries translating to differences in the energy and bio-fertilizer production potentials across *** wastes generated in SSA can potentially generate about 133 million GWh of energy per *** organic waste to bio-fertilizer production potentials range from 11.08 million tons to 306.26 million tons *** has the highest energy and bio-fertilizer potential among the SSA countries with a total per capita of 630 MWh/year and 306.26 million tons,*** challenges and technical considerations for energy and bio-fertilizer approaches in the management of organic waste in SSA have also been *** study is of help to the readers and strategic decision makers in understanding the contribution of bioenergy and bio-fertilizer to achieving sustainable development goals,namely,7(Affordable and Clean energy)and 13(Climate Action)in SSA.

Influence of technology transfer from universities on manufacturing firms'innovative performance

Technology transfer(TT)from universities to manufacturing firms is important for enhancing innovation performance(IP)and ultimately improving ***,TT is hampered by bureaucracy,inertia,inefficiency,cognitive dissonance,and low research and development *** purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between TT from universities to manufacturing firms and their *** study was conducted based on Megnigbeto's(2018)triple helix game theory.A mixed-method approach was *** independent variable was TT,measured in terms of technology spillover,networking,and the presence of accelerators and incubators within a firm's *** dependent variable was IP,measured through innovation output and innovation *** study used an explanatory sequential research *** target population was manufacturing firms in Kenya,identified using a multi-stage sampling *** data were collected using semi-structured questionnaires,interview schedules,and *** regressions,hierarchical multiple moderated regressions,structural equation modeling,and partial least squares were used to test the *** results indicate that TT from universities significantly influences IP in manufacturing *** are important intermediaries of TT in manufacturing firms in Kenya because of their improved IP and *** should create dynamic linkages with industries and adopt an engaged learning approach in their programs to create greater and more unique values for enhanced competitiveness and sustainable development.

energy flexibility characteristics of centralized hot water system in university dormitories

The large-scale application of renewable energy is an important strategy to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality in the building *** flexibility is essential for ensuring balance between energy demand and supply when targeting the maximum penetration rate of renewable energy during the operation of regional integrated energy *** the energy flexibility characteristics of centralized hot water systems,which are an important source of such flexibility,is of great significance to the optimal operation of regional integrated energy ***,in this study,based on the annual real-time monitoring data,the energy flexibility of the centralized hot water system in university dormitories is evaluated from the perspective of available storage capacity(C_(ADR)),recovery time(t_(recovery)),and storage efficiency(η_(ADR)),by the data-driven simulation *** factors influencing the energy flexibility of the centralized hot water system are also *** storage capacity has a strong positive correlation with daily water consumption and a strong negative correlation with daily mean outdoor *** associations indicate that increased water use on the energy flexibility of the centralized hot water system is conducive to optimal *** contrast,higher outdoor temperature is *** hourly mean value of the available storage capacity in spring and winter is found to be around 80 kWh in the daytime,and about twice that in summer and *** time is evenly distributed throughout the year,while t_(recovery)/C_(ADR)in spring and winter is about half that in *** storage efficiency was significantly higher in spring,summer,and winter than in *** hourly mean storage efficiency was found to be about 40%in the *** benefits of activating energy flexibility in spring and winter are the best,because these two seasons have higher available storage capacity and storage efficiency,while the benefit

Nonlinear oscillation characteristics of magnetic microbubbles under acoustic and magnetic fields

Microbubbles loaded with magnetic nanoparticles(MMBs) have attracted increasing interests in multimode imaging and drug/gene delivery and targeted therapy. However, the dynamic behaviors generated in diagnostic and therapeutic applications are not clear. In the present work, a novel theoretical model of a single MMB was developed, and the dynamic responses in an infinite viscous fluid were investigated under simultaneous exposure to magnetic and acoustic fields. The results showed that the amplitude reduces and the resonant frequency increases with the strength of the applied steady magnetic field and the susceptibility of the magnetic shell. However, the magnetic field has a limited influence on the oscillating. It is also noticed that the responses of MMB to a time-varying magnetic field is different from a steady magnetic field. The subharmonic components increase firstly and then decrease with the frequency of the magnetic field and the enhanced effect is related to the acoustic driving frequency. It is indicated that there may be a coupling interaction effect between the acoustic and magnetic fields.

Recommendation systems provide ease and convenience for users to address information overload problems while interacting with online platforms such as social media and ***,it raises several questions about privacy,especially for users who prefer to remain anonymous,especially on online social networks(OSNs).Moreover,due to the commercialization of online users'data,some service providers sell users'data to third parties at the blind side of the users,which leads to trust issues between users and service *** matters call for a system that gives online users much-needed control and autonomy of their *** the advancement of blockchain technology,many research institutions are experimenting with decentralized technologies to resolve the OSN user dilemma of privacy intrusion against third parties and *** resolve these limitations,we propose RecGuard,a privacy preservation blockchain-based network *** developed two smart contracts,RG-SH and RG-ST,to ensure the security and privacy of user *** RG-SH manages user data,whereas the RGST stores data.A graph convolutional network(GCN)was integrated with the blockchain-based system to detect malicious ***,we implemented our framework prototype on a locally simulated *** analysis and experiment results show that the proposed scheme demonstrates the effectiveness and privacy of users in our framework.

Changes of water chemistry from rainfall to stream flow in Obagbile Catchment, Southwest Nigeria

Water chemistry changes when it flows through different *** study aims to characterize the differences of water(including rainwater,overland flow,soil water,groundwater,and stream water)chemistry of five kinds of water in Obagbile Catchment in Southwest Nigeria,determine the changes in water chemistry that occur as the water moves from one pathway to another,and identify the factors responsible for the water chemistry *** do these,we collected 50 water samples from 10 heavy storms that received equal to or more than 10 mm of rain within an hour to test the changes of water chemical properties across various pathways in this *** results show that overland flow had the highest p H and electrical conductivity(EC)and rainwater had the lowest values of the two ***^(2+),Mg^(2+),Cl^(ˉ),and HCOO^(ˉ) were found to have their highest concentrations in stream water;meanwhile,NO_(3)^(–),NH_(4)^(+),and SO_(4)^(2–) were found to have almost the same low concentrations in all the water samples.K+was only dominant in stream water;while dissolved organic carbon(DOC)was lowest in rainwater,same in overland flow,soil water,and groundwater samples,and highest in stream *** component analysis(PCA)showed that for all the water samples from different pathways,two factors mainly accounted for the total *** two factors were related to the crustal and anthropogenic sources in rainwater,suggesting that the high loadings of major cations(e.g.,Ca^(2+) and Mg^(2+)) in rainwater samples are *** PCA for the overland flow and soil water showed strong correlations among pH,EC,and the concentrations of Na^(+),Mg^(2+),HCOO^(-),and CH_(3)COO^(-),while the high loadings of all the parameters and the strong correlations among each other were evident in the stream *** conclusion,the chemical constituents found in water are also the components of pathways through which the water *** major factors responsible for the change in the
