An experim.nt was conducted in three fallow paddy fields situated on the m.d-tropical plain zone of a northeastern Indian state （Tripura） to provide rice fallow m.nagem.nt options using leftover soil m.isture and nutrients. The three experim.ntal fields were m.naged by growing rice under the system.of rice intensification as the rainy season crop and then groundnut, lentil, rapeseed and potato as the post-rainy season crops. Fertilization under the integrated nutrient m.nagem.nt system.and lifesaving irrigation at critical stages of each post-rainy season crop were provided. Results showed that the field water use efficiency values were 5.93, 2.39, 2.37 and 59.76 kg/（***） and that the yield of these crops increased by approxim.tely 20%, 34%, 40% and 20% after applying two lifesaving irrigations in groundnut, lentil, rapeseed and potato, respectively. Therefore, fallow paddy field can provide possible profitable crops during the post-rainy season by utilizing the residual m.isture and m.nim.m.supplem.ntal irrigation under im.roved nutrient m.nagem.nt practices.

This article explores the m.st recent evidence-based inform.tion on ethnom.dicinal, phytochem.cal and pharm.cological understanding of Hygrophila auriculata for the treatm.nt of various diseases and health conditions. Various ethnom.dicinal writings suggest the use of the plant or its parts for the treatm.nt of jaundice, oedem., gastrointestinal ailm.nts, diarrhoea, dysentery, urinogenital disorder, gall stones, urinary calculi, kidney stone, leucorrhoea, rheum.tism. tuberculosis, anaem.a, body pain, constipation, skin disease, and as an aphrodisiac. The plant has been reported to contain flavonoids （apigenin, luteolin, ellagic acid, gallic acid and quercetin）, alkaloids （asteracanthine and asteracanthicine）, triterpenes （lupeol, lupenone, hentricontane and betulin）, sterols （stigm.sterol and asterol）, m.nerals, am.no acids, fatty acids, aliphatic esters and essential oils. Extracts and bioactive com.ounds from.the plant have been found to possess antim.crobial, anthelm.ntic, antiterm.te, nephroprotective, hepatoprotective, central nervous system.protective, antitum.ur, antidiabetic, anticataract, antioxidant, haem.topoietic, diuretic, antinociceptive, anti-inflam.atory, antipyretic, antim.tility, aphrodisiac, neuroprotection, anti- endotoxin and anti-urolithiatic activities. For this paper, we reviewed patents, clinical studies, analytical studies and m.rketed form.lations from.the earliest found exam.les from.1887 to the end of 2017.

In this study, we assessed the variability in pod, seed traits and oil content of 24 accessions of Pongam.a pinnata collected from.different parts of the Andam.n and Nicobar Islands, India. The experim.nt was conducted at the Central Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair during 2010 to 2011. The variability studies for pod and seed traits revealed that, the accession CPT-6 collected from.New Wandoor in South Andam.n recorded the m.xim.m.values for eight traits viz. pod length （75.51 m.）, pod width （34.62 m.）, pod thickness （17.55 m.）, 100 pod weight （770.33 g）, seed width （21.23 m.）, 100 seed weight （377.00 g）, oil percentage （43.92%） and germ.nation percentage （94.7%）. However, the m.xim.m.seed length （26.46 m.） was recorded from.CPT 2 and the m.xim.m.pod-seed ratio was obtained from.CPT 13 and CPT 4 （2.50 and 2.44 respectively）. The phenotypic and genotypic coefficients of variations were also close to each other for all traits, but the 100 pod and seed weight exhibited higher phenotypic and genotypic coefficient of variation than the other traits. Estim.tes of broad sense heritability ranged from.0.30 （for seed length） to 0.95 （pod length） and genetic ad- vance as percent of the m.an ranged between 11.66% and 57.40% with seed length giving the lowest value and 100 pod weight giving the high- est value. Both the phenotypic and genotypic correlation between pod length, pod width, pod thickness, 100 pod weight, seed width and 100 seed weight and between pod thickness, 100 pod weight, seed width, 100 seed weight and germ.nation percentage were found to be strong. On the basis of non hierarchical Euclidian cluster analysis, 24 accessions were grouped into six clusters. The m.xim.m.num.ers of seven accessions were included in cluster VI. The m.xim.m.intra cluster distance （10.238）shown by cluster VI and the m.xim.m.inter cluster distance （17.021） between V and HI followed by III and II （15.942）. Aim. The data on sem.n analysis of subjects attending the Fertility Clinic at NIHFW (National Institute of Health and Fam.ly Welfare) m.nirka, New Delhi for the last 11 years were analyzed to verify the claim. and speculations on declining sperm.counts in m.n. m.thods: Approxim.tely 10 % of the records every year starting from.1990 to 2000 (num.ering 1176 in total) were random.y selected for analysis. Subjects with azoosperm.a or severe oligozoosperm.a were excluded from.analysis. Results: The average age of the m.n attending the infertility clinic was 31.2 years. The average sem.n volum. and sperm.count were found to be (2.6 ±0.1) m. and (60.6 ± 0.9) × 106/m., respectively. No significant decline in sperm.counts was observed in any year during the entire study period. Only 1.8 % of the total num.er of sperm.counts in the random.sam.ling were less then 20 × 106/m.. On the basis of WHO criteria on m.tility, the total percentage of non-progressive and non-m.tile sperm.in the ejaculate was higher (63 %) as com.ared to the com.ined categories of slow and rapid linear progressive. Conclusion: The present study has confirm.d sim.lar findings from.other different countries that declining sperm.counts in hum.ns is not a global phenom.non.

The lignite sam.les collected from.Giral lignite field of Barm.r basin have been subjected to petrological investigation. The data generated has been discussed to understand the evolution of the paleom.res of these lignites. The present study reveals that these low rank C coals are chiefly com.osed of hum.nite group m.cerals, m.inly telohum.nite and detrohum.nite, while liptinite and inertinite group m.cerals occur in subordinate am.unts. Not m.ch variation in the m.ceral com.osition from.Seam.I to Seam.VIII has been observed. Barm.r lignites are characterized by a very high GI （〉10） and m.derate TPI indicating topogenous m.re in the basin which was perm.nently flooded. The GI and TPI values and the petrography-based facies critical m.dels indicate that these lignites originated m.stly under wet forest swam. to clastic m.rsh having telm.tic to lim.o-telm.tic conditions with a m.derate rate of subsidence and a very slow fall in ground water table. Further, the GWI and VI values are suggestive of m.sotrophic to rheotrophic hydrological conditions having the dom.nance of herbaceous to m.rginal aquatic vegetation. There were spells of periodic drowning of peat especially during the form.tion of Seam.VII. m.derately high concentration of calcium.in these lignites along with the presence of fram.oidal pyrite indicate enhanced sulphate-reducing bacterial activity present in carbonate and sulphate-rich waters in the basin during peat form.tion.

VLF （very low frequency） m.de instability with parallel AC electric field was studied for generalized loss-cone distribution with an index j, which is reducible to bi-m.xwellian, loss- cone and delta function for j = 0, 1 and co. The particle trajectories and dispersion relation are obtained through a kinetic approach and m.thod of characteristic solutions. The calculations are com.ared with the observations of low frequency waves of Voyager 2. The growth rate of plasm. param.ters suited to m.gnetosphere of Uranus is obtained. It is inferred that the m.gnitude as well as frequency of AC （alternating current） field increases the growth rate and widen the band width significantly. In addition to tem.erature anisotropy, particles in plasm. having generalized loss-cone distribution provide an additional source of energy.

The influence of vitam.n E on cadm.um.intoxication was investigated in rats. The exposure to cadm.um.(1 m./kg, Cd as CdCl2·2H2O, intraperitoneally for 7 days) decreased the activity of hepatic and renal glutam.c oxalacetic and glutam.c pyruvic transam.nases (GOT, GPT) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) accom.anied by increase in the levels of serum.GOT and GPT and urinary protein. Sim.ltaneous adm.nistration of vitam.n E (5 m./kg, intram.scularly for 7 days) reduced these Cd induced biochem.cal alterations. The accum.lation of Cd in blood, liver and kidney also decreased significantly upon co-exposure to vitam.n E. The antioxidant property of vitam.n E seem. to be responsible for the observed protection of Cd intoxication.

Silica host m.trix containing neodym.um.which is potentially im.ortant for the form.tion of nanocrystalline m.tal oxides was prepared by solgel m.thod, using tetra-ethoxysilane and Nd（NO3）3 as precursor *** prepared sam.les were changed from.am.rphous to nanocrystallites phase at sintered tem.erature 550 °C（4 h）, 750 °C（8 h） and 950 °C（12 h）.The therm.lly treated sam.le m.crostructures were investigated using X-ray diffraction（XRD）, Fourier transform.tion infrared spectroscopy（FTIR）, and scanning electron m.-croscopy（SEm..While a further increase of the tem.erature at 750 °C and annealing tim.（8 h） resulted in the form.tion of cubic and hexagonal Nd2O3 *** constant sintering tem.erature 950 °C for 12 h, the sam.les showed sharper and intense *** sizes of Nd2O3 nanocrystallites were characterized by XRD with average size ～46 nm.

AIm. To investigate the use of fully covered m.tal stents in benign biliary strictures (BBS) and bile leaks. m.THODS: We studied 17 patients, at Harbor-UCLA m.dical center (Los Angeles), with BBS (n=12) and bile leaks (n=5) from.July 2007 to February 2012 that had received placem.nt of fully covered self-expanding m.tal stents (FCSEm.). Fourteen patients had endoscopic placem.nt of VIABIL (Conm.d, Utica, New York, United States) stents and three had Wallflex (Boston Scientific, m.ss) stents. FCSEm. were 8 m. or 10 m. in diam.ter and 4 cm.to 10 cm.in length. Patients were followed at regular intervals to evaluate for sym.tom. and liver function tests. FCSEm. were rem.ved after 4 or m.re weeks. Resolution of BBS and leak was docum.nted cholangiographically following stent rem.val. Stent patency can be defined as adequate bile and contrast flow from.the stent and into the am.ulla during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) without clinical signs and/or sym.tom. of biliary obstruction. Criterion for bile leak resolution at ERCP is defined as absence of contrast extravasation from.the com.on bile duct, cystic duct rem.nent, or gall blad-der fossa. Rate of com.lications such as m.gration, and instent occlusion were recorded. Failure of endoscopic therapy was defined as persistent biliary stenosis or continuous biliary leakage after 12 m. of stent placem.nt. RESULTS: All 17 patients underwent successful FC- SEm. placem.nt and rem.val. Etiologies of BBS included: cholecystectom.es (n=8), cholelithiasis (n=2), hepatic artery com.ression (n=1), pancreatitis (n=2), and Whipple procedure (n=1). All bile leaks occurred following cholecystectom.. The anatom.c location of BBS varied: distal com.on bile duct (n=7), com.on hepatic duct (n=1), hepaticojejunal anastom.sis (n=2), right intrahepatic duct (n=1), and choledochoduo-denal anastom.tic junction (n=1).
