Effect of shipping activity on warming trends in the Canadian Arctic

This paper presents a detailed account of the effect of shipping activity on the increasing trends of air temperatures in the Canadian Arctic region for the period of 1980–*** trend of temperature has gained significant attention with respect to shipping activities and sea ice area in the Canadian ***,sea ice area and shipping traffic datasets were investigated,and simple linear regression analyses were conducted to predict the rate of change(per decade)of the average temperature,considering winter(January)and summer(July)*** results indicate that temperature generally increased over the studied *** warming trend was observed during July,with an increase of up to 1℃,for the Canadian Arctic *** increasing trend of temperature was observed during July from the lower to higher *** increase in temperature during July is speculated to increase the melting of *** also show a decline in sea ice area has a significant positive effect on the shipping traffic,and the numbers of marine vessel continue to increase in the *** increase in temperature causes the breaking of sea ice due to shipping activities over northern Arctic Canada.

Anode materials for rechargeable electric car batteries are obtained from Li-metal owing to their extremely high specific capacity and low redox ***,safety concerns related to dendrite formation on the anode surface caused by the uneven distribution of Li-ions during the discharge process interfere with the use of Li-metal in industrial *** this study,methyl vinyl sulfone(MVS),a sulfone-based functional electrolyte additive,is used in an additive engineering strategy to control Lielectrolyte interactions and address the aforementioned *** dendrite growth may be restricted,and transition metal degradation on the surface of the cathode can be reduced by the MVS-derived functional electrolyte additive interfacial *** electrochemical performance of an ethylene carbonate/dimethyl carbonate(EC/DMC)+1 wt% MVS Li-metal anode of a Li||Li symmetric cell exhibits remarkable cycle stability,maintaining a low overvoltage for over 750 h at 1 mA cm^(-2),and capacity of 1 mA h cm^(-2).Additionally,LiNi_(0.8)Co_(0.1)Mn_(0.1)O_(2)(NCM811) full cells with the MVS additive exhibit enhanced electrochemical stability for 250 cycles at a current density of 100 mA g^(-1).This study provides an innovative approach for stabilizing the metal-electrolyte interfacial layer that may be used for practical applications in metal-based rechargeable batteries.

Objective:To explore the prevalence,pathogenicity,and antibiotic susceptibility patterns of urinary tract infections at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching ***:Samples from 400 patients with a presumptive diagnosis of urinary tract infection including 250 non pregnant females and 150 males were used for this *** were distributed into two groups: children aged 2 to 17(Croup A) and adults aged 18 to 75(Croup B).The standard wire loop and agar diffusion technique were employed for culture and susceptibility testing,*** obtained were analysed using SPSS,version ***:30.0%of Group A and 41.0%of Group B had significant bacteriuria with 66.7%and 79.3%as females,*** commonest isolates cultured were Escherichia coli(32.8%),Staphylococcus aureus(17.2%),and Klebsiella spp.(16.4%).About 76.6%of isolates were sensitive to the fluorinated quinolones,31.2%to the aminoglycosides,and 22.7%to the urinary antiseptic,*** isolates were nonsensitive to tetracycline(93.8%),cotrimoxazole(92.2%),and nalidixic acid(86.7%).Most isolates showed non-uniform sensitivity patterns to the cephaloporins(cefuroxime and ceftazidime). Pseudomonas *** were generally resistant to the fluorinated ***: Though the fluorinated quinolones are still largely effective for empirical therapy in urinary tract infections,the importance of prior sensitivity testing in checking the emergence of bacterial antibiotic resistance can not be overemphasized.

Lemon grass(Cymbopogon citratus Stapf) is a popular alternative to western medicines for a number of conditions, including fevers,muscle soreness and superficial infections in *** addition to its already reported suppressive effects against *** infection,this study sought to determine its repository and blood schizonticidal activities in established *** infection using Swiss albino mice as *** weighing on average, between 15 and 25g were given 103mg/kg,155mg/kg and 310mg/kg/day of the crude aqueous extract of cymbopogon citratus stapf,in the 4-day test,24-hour Rane test and 72-hour Rane *** effects of these doses of the extract were then compared with chloroquine(5mg/kg/day) and sulphadoxine/pyrimethamine (3mg/kg/day).We report an average percentage suppressive repository activity of 65.8%for the extract at a dose of 310mg/kg and a blood schizonticidal activity that increased from 68.33%in the 24-hour Rane test to 92%in the 72-hour Rane test for the same dose of *** crude aqueous extract of *** stapf thus has significant repository and blood schizonticidal activities against established *** infection in Swiss albino mice compare to that of pyrimethamine and sulphadoxine/pyrimethamine respectively.

In this editorial,we comment on an article by Liao et al published in the current issue of the World Journal of *** focus on the clinical significance of tibial transverse transport(TTT)as an effective treatment for patients with diabetic foot ulcers(DFU).TTT has been associated with tissue regeneration,improved blood circulation,reduced amputation rates,and increased expression of early angiogenic ***,TTT can influence macrophage polarization and growth factor *** this potential,the limitations and conflicting results of existing studies justify the need for further research into its optimal application and *** clinical implications highlight the efficacy of TTT in recalcitrant DFU and provide lasting stimuli for tissue re-generation,and blood vessel and bone marrow ***-lation via systemic responses contributes to its therapeutic *** studies should investigate the underlying molecular mechanisms to enhance our understanding and the efficacy of *** manuscript emphasizes the potential of TTT in limb preservation and diabetic wound healing and suggests avenues for preventive measures against limb amputation in diabetes and peripheral artery ***,we highlight the clinical significance of the TTT and its importance in healing DFU to promote the use of this technique in tissue regeneration.

Objective:In Port Harcourt and its environs,extracts of Cleistopholis patens are used by traditional medicine healers for the treatment of menstrual irregularities and other gynaecological *** objective of this study was therefore to determine the effects of orally administered methanol extract of the stem bark of Cleistopholis patens on the reproductive organs of non-pregnant albino(Wistar) ***:3g/kg(low dose) and 6g/kg(high dose) of the extract were administered orally,daily to two different groups of animals,respectively, over a period of 28 days.A third(control) group of animals received distilled water only,orally over the same *** animals from each of the groups were sacrificed on day 8,15 and *** blood samples and reproductive organs respectively were taken from each group of sacrificed animals for hormonal and histopathological ***:Results of the hormonal assay revealed a general increase in the levels of Follicle Stimulating Hormone(FSH),Luteinizing Hormone(LH),progesterone,and *** highest levels were noticed in the animals sacrificed on the 29th day(LH =5.48±0.04 IU/L;FSH =3.80±0.00 IU/ L;Progesterone =7.14±0.15 nmol/L;Estrogen = 0.168±0.002 nmol/L).These increases were statistically significant compared to those of the control animals(LH =2.90±0.00 IU /L;FSH = 1.28±0.02 IU/L; Progesterone = 3.80±0.00 nmol/L;Estrogen = 0.130±0.002 nmol/L;Pime-dependent increase in FSH,LH,progesterone and estrogen *** postulate that these observed effects may have been induced by the phytoestrogens (known to have 1/1 000 th of the efficacy of natural oestrogens) in the *** hormonal and histopathological c
