据世界卫生组织统计,早产儿视网膜病(retinopathy of prematurity,ROP)已成为高收入国家儿童致盲的首位原因.这一问题已引起国内外医疗学术界的高度重视.1 背景和概况ROP最早由Terry在1942年因白瞳症及视力不良而受检婴幼儿中发现,当时推测这种位于晶状体后的纤维膜为先天性晶体血管膜之遗迹,称为晶体后纤维膜增生症(retrolental fibroplasca)[1,2].Owens于1949年证实,本病在纤维膜形成之前,尚有一个活动期,并非系先天性异常.1950年Heath命名此病为早产儿视网膜病变.ROP是一种因为早产儿视网膜光敏感层异常发育(异常视网膜血管形成)而导致的眼疾病.据报道80%以上出生体重<1000g的早产儿发生早产儿视网膜病,体重1500g以下的早产儿,发生率在30%～50%[3],体重越轻发生率越高,胎龄23～28周发生率最高.如不积极治疗,将影响孩子的视力,且其中6%还会致盲.

Compelling pieces of evidence derived from both clinical and experimental research has demonstrated the crucial contribution of diabetes mellitus(DM)as a risk factor associated with increased cancer incidence and mortality in many human neoplasms,including gastric cancer(GC).DM is considered a systemic inflammatory disease and therefore,this inflammatory status may have profound effects on the tumor microenvironment(TME),particularly by driving many molecular mechanisms to generate a more aggressive *** is an active driver in the modification of the behavior of many cell components of the TME as well as altering the mechanical properties of the extracellular matrix(ECM),leading to an increased ECM ***,DM can alter many cellular signaling mechanisms and thus favoring tumor growth,invasion,and metastatic potential,as well as key elements in regulating cellular functions and cross-talks,such as the microRNAs network,the production,and cargo of exosomes,the metabolism of cell stroma and resistance to *** the present review,we intend to highlight the mechanistic contributions of DM to the remodeling of TME in GC.

To study the morphology of the enteric nervous system and the expression of beta-2 adrenergic (B2A) receptors in primary colorectal *** this study, we included forty-eight patients with primary colorectal cancer and nine patients for control tissue from the excision of a colonic segment for benign conditions. We determined the clinicopathological features and evaluated the immunohistochemical expression pattern of B2A receptors as well as the morphological changes of the enteric nervous system (ENS). In order to assess statistical differences, we used the student t-test for comparing the means of two groups and one-way analysis of variance with Bonferroni’s post hoc analysis for comparing the means of more than two groups. Correlations were assessed using the Pearson’s correlation ***2A receptors were significantly associated with tumor grading, tumor size, tumor invasion, lymph node metastasis (P 0.05). We observed, on one hand, a decrease of the relative area for both Auerbach and Meissner plexuses with the increase of the tumor grading, and on the other hand, an increase of the relative area of other nervous elements not in the Meissner plexus or in the Auerbach plexus with the tumor grading. For G1 tumors we found that epithelial B2A area showed an inverse correlation with the Auerbach plexus areas [r(14) = -0.531, P < 0.05], while for G2 tumors, epithelial B2A areas showed an indirect variation with both the Auerbach plexus areas [r(14) = -0.453, P < 0.05] and the Meissner areas [r(14) = -0.825, P < 0.01]. The paper deals with the designing of an electric drive system used for hybrid electric vehicles. The driving system is realized with an induction motor and a voltage source inverter. Specifically, the application is for a series hybrid vehicle powered by electric storage batteries charged by solar batteries. In the first part of the paper the designing of the electric storage batteries and of the photoelectric system is presented. In the second part of the paper some aspects regarding the designing of the induction motor are presented. Then some aspects concerning the voltage source inverter designing are exposed.

Cardiac rehabilitation and mid-term follow-up after transcatheter aortic valve implantation

Background Evaluation of patient outcomes following transcatheter aortic valve implantation （TAVI） has usually been based on survival and clinical improvement. Studies on quality of life are limited, and data from comprehensive assessments after the procedure are lacking. Methods Sixty patients referred for cardiac rehabilitation after TAVI underwent in-hospital and after-discharge multidimensional assessments to evaluate clinical, functional, and nutritional statuses, degree of autonomy, cognitive impairment, depression and quality of life. Results On admission to rehabilitation, approximately half of the patients had severe functional impairment and dependence for basic activities of daily living. During their hospital stay, one-third of the patients suffered significant clinical complications and two had to be transferred to the implantation center. Despite this, the overall outcome was very good. All of the remaining patients were clinically stable at discharge and functional status, autonomy and quality of life were improved in most. During a mean follow-up of 540 days （range： 192-738 days）, five patients died from noncardiac causes, three were hospitalized for cardiac events, and nine for non cardiac reasons. Functional status and autonomy remained satisfactory in the majority of patients and most continued to live independently. Conclusions Patients referred for rehabilitation after TAVI are often very frail, with a high grade of functional impairment, dependence on others and high risk of clinical complications. During a rehabilitation programme, based on a multidimensional assessment and intervention, most patients showed significant improvement in functional status, quality of life, and autonomy, which remained stable in the majority of subjects during mid-term follow-up.

Residues of pharmaceutical and direct metabolites discharged into the aquatic environment have become a challenge for wastewater treatment facilities due to their increase in concentration and their different physicochemical properties. These emerging contaminants are daily detected in surface water and wastewater discharged by municipalities. To remediate the contaminated water, various methods are currently used including primary, secondary, and tertiary advanced treatments. However, some economic and environmental limitations have forced the scientific community to develop alternative disinfection processes to purify wastewater. As such, the adsorption strategy represents a “green” low-cost and effective solution to remove pollutants from water. In this study, a nanomaterial made of N,O-carboxymethyl chitosan (N,O-CMCS) was prepared using chitosan (CS) and monochloroacetic acid under various conditions. N,O-CMCS electrospun was synthetized with the copolymer polyethylene oxide (PEO) to create nanofiber membranes showing a better specificity toward diversified contaminants depending on the pH of medium. The developed adsorbent was used to remove fluoxetine (FLX) from aqueous solutions. The new nanomaterial was characterised using FTIR, NMR, and SEM techniques. Sorption batch tests were carried out using high-performance liquid chromatography and ultraviolet diode array detector (HPLC-UV DAD) under controlled pH experimental conditions to determine the contaminant removal capacity of the nanomaterial. The promising adsorption results obtained with N,O-CMCS/PEO nanofibers are among the best ones obtained so far in comparison to other commercial and synthetized adsorbents tested for FLX’s adsorption. Kinetic experiments were also performed to investigate effects of contact times on the FLX adsorption. Experimental results were fitted to both common kinetic models pseudo-first and second order. Objectives: In the last decade gut microbial diversity was associated with the pathogenesis of obesity in humans. Plasma citrulline was a simple and accurate biomarker for the severity of intestinal failure and was associated with short bowel syndrome and alteration of gut permeability, being developed as an alternative to D-xylose tolerance test for the diagnosis of an abnormal small intestinal absorption of nutrients. This study was performed to ascertain whether obesity might be associated with dysregulation of epithelial gut function. Methods: Fifteen obese individuals (5 M/10 F;BMI 37.4 ± 6.1 Kg/m2;42 ± 6 yrs) and 15 healthy gender- and age-matched controls (6 M/9 F BMI: 22.7 ± 2.1 Kg/m2;39 ± 7 yrs) underwent D-xylose load (25 g) and plasma citrulline, plasma insulin, glucose and lipid profile testing. Results: Plasma citrulline was significantly lower in the obese group (p = 0.045) with respect to controls, whilst total cholesterol, LDL and trygliceri- des concentration, insulin level and HOMA-IR were significantly higher in obese patients. In contrast, after D-xylose load no difference in serum xylose was found between the two groups (p = ns). Conclusions: Obese patients show a decreased citrulline concentration with respect to lean subjects. Since citrulline is a known marker of intestinal health, alterations in the gut epithelium are likely to be associated with the obesity syndrome. We propose to measure citrulline level in obese patients on a routine basis.

The earth crust is believed to be made of a mass of minerals and is matched by their importance in human life. The human body, depend like other leaving organisms, on several minerals as essential constituents of its existence. Metal ions in foodstuff are in different chemical forms, as inorganic salts or organic molecules or complexes with other compounds such as proteins, amino acids, enzymes and some vitamins, among others, that play an important role in human health. Entomophagy, insect consumption by several ethnic groups in Mexico as cultural tradition since prehispanic era represent an option for population to obtain the minerals needed by the body to keep a good health. Escamoles ant eggs of the Liometopumapiculatum M genus, much appreciated either at rural communities as well as in urban cities, contain minerals with a favorable effect in human health. The aim of this study was to investigate the mineral composition of Escamoles and the benefits which can provide to the human body. Sampling was at an arid region of the Hidalgo state on April 2012. Minerals in dry basis, determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry, with the exception of phosphorus content, obtained from a triple acid digested extract and determined colorimetrically. Data of mineral analysis in dry basis of Escamoles were： total minerals 5.92%; Na 0.079%; K 0.075%; Ca 0.097%; P 0.701%; Fe 0.021%; Zn 0.035% Cu 0.009%; Mg 0.998%; Mn 0.002%. Minerals quantify are not equal to total ash contained because not all of them were assess determined. Elements concentration depends not only on the total mineral composition of foodstuff the inorganic or organic form or interaction among metal ions, but also on their availability and avail of them. Minerals in Escamoles ant eggs have a considerable influence in the condition of human health.
