PredSL: A Tool for the N-termi.al Sequence-based Predi.ti.n of Protei. Subcellular Locali.ati.n

The abi.i.y to predi.t the subcellular locali.ati.n of a protei. from i.s sequence i. of great i.portance, as i. provi.es i.formati.n about the protei.＇s functi.n. We present a computati.nal tool, PredSL, whi.h uti.i.es neural networks, Markov chai.s, profi.e hi.den Markov models, and scori.g matri.es for the predi.ti.n of the subcellular locali.ati.n of protei.s i. eukaryoti. cells from the N-termi.al ami.o aci. sequence. i. ai.s to classi.y protei.s i.to fi.e groups： chloroplast, thylakoi., mi.ochondri.n, secretory pathway, and ＂other＂. When tested i. a fi.efold cross-vali.ati.n procedure, PredSL demonstrates 86.7% and 87.1% overall accuracy for the plant and non-plant datasets, respecti.ely. Compared wi.h TargetP, whi.h i. the most wi.ely used method to date, and LumenP, the results of PredSL are comparable i. most cases. When tested on the experi.entally veri.i.d protei.s of the Saccharomyces cerevi.i.e genome, PredSL performs comparably i. not better than any avai.able algori.hm for the same task. Furthermore, PredSL i. the only method capable for the predi.ti.n of these subcellular locali.ati.ns that i. avai.able as a stand-alone appli.ati.n through the URL： http：//***/PredSL/.

The study presented here was carri.d out to obtai. the actual soli.s flow rate by the combi.ati.n of electri.al resi.tance tomography and electromagneti. flow meter. A new i.-si.u measurement method based on measurements of the Electromagneti. Flow Meters （EFM） and Electri.al Resi.tance Tomography （ERT） to study the flow rates of i.di.i.ual phases i. a verti.al flow was proposed. The study was based on laboratory experi.ents that were carded out wi.h a 50 mm verti.al flow ri. for a number of sand concentrati.ns and di.ferent mi.ture veloci.i.s. A range of sand slurri.s wi.h medi.n parti.le si.e from 212 μm to 355 μm was tested. The soli. concentrati.n by volume covered was 5% and 15%, and the correspondi.g densi.y of 5% was 1078 kg/m^3 and of 15% was 1238 kg/m^3. The flow veloci.y was between 1.5 m/s and 3.0 m/s. A total of 6 experi.ental tests were conducted. The equi.alent li.ui. model was adopted to vali.ate i.-si.u volumetri. soli.s fracti.n and calculate the sli. veloci.y. The results show that the ERT techni.ue can be used i. conjuncti.n wi.h an electromagneti. flow meter as a way of measurement of slurry flow rate i. a verti.al pi.e flow. However i. should be emphasi.ed that the EFM results must be treated wi.h reservati.n when the flow pattern at the EFM mounti.g posi.i.n i. a non-homogenous flow. The flow rate obtai.ed by the EFM should be corrected consi.eri.g the sli. veloci.y and the flow pattern.

The processed data come from experi.ents and numeri.al si.ulati.ns. i. compari.on wi.h a Fouri.r transform, the POD gi.es the best modal approxi.ati.n for both i.i.i.l fi.lds, i. terms of the energy expressed on any gi.en number of modes to be taken i.to account： to reach 98% of the total energy of the veloci.y fi.ld, the requi.ed number of POD modes i. around ni.e ti.es smaller than the number of Fouri.r harmoni.s. The i.di.i.ual POD modes are gi.en and show that the unsteady rotor-stator i.teracti.n i. already present i. the very fi.st modes.

Results reveal that when di.tance parameter(a) i. i. the mi.i.um level and di.meter parameter(r) i. i. the maxi.um possi.le level, cooli.g the rods wi.l be better due to hi.her Nusselt number i. thi. si.uati.n. The most i.portant ai. pollutants are ozone and pani.ulate matter wi.h levels that are sti.l far above current ai. quali.y standard. i. thi. work we studi.d exhaust and evaporati.e emi.si.ns of Mexi.o Ci.y metropoli.an area （MAMC） vehi.les usi.g fuels i. whi.h sulfur content was vari.d from 89×10^-6 to 817×10^-6, and calculated the ozone formi.g potenti.l of emi.si.ns as well as the speci.i. reacti.i.y of the exhaust for each average fleet-fuel combi.ati.ns. Data on emi.si.n levels were compared to those obtai.ed i. 2000 for the same vi.tage of vehi.les. The almost twofold i.crease i. emi.si.ns found could be due to degradati.n of the exhaust emi.si.ns control systems.
