Analysis of demographic characteristics in 3242 young age gastric cancer patients in Korea

AIM:To evaluate the epidemiologic features of young age gastric cancer(GC). METHODS:Retrospectively,a total of 3242 patients with GC between 18 and 45 years of age and 3000 sex-and age-matched controls were *** subjects were stratified into 3 groups based on age (A,18-30 years;B,31-40 years;C,41-45 years). Epidemiologic characteristics and risk factors were investigated with reference to their age and gender. RESULTS:Compared to controls,more frequent intake of high risk diet(P=0.00075),history of heavy smoking(P=0.00087),intake of heavy alcohol(P= 0.00091),lower social economic status(P=0.00083), body mass index>30(P=0.00097),urban residence(P=0.00065),and more frequent exposure to harmful occupational environments(P=0.00072)were observed in all age groups and both genders in young age *** relationships were weaker in females compared to males of the same age,and were stronger as the age of patients ***,in group C of young age GC patients,environmental factors played important roles in females and males with a similar body *** females,older age at first delivery(> 35 years),lack of lactation history,nulliparity,and poor nutritional status during pregnancy were significantly associated with an increased risk of GC(P=0.00034). In this study,252 patients(7.8%)had a family history of GC with high odds ratio(OR)(3.22-4.21).In particular, family history was more closely associated with GC in males(OR,4.21 in male vs 3.46 in female)and more advanced cases(P=0.00051). CONCLUSION:Hormonal associated factors were more commonly associated with females whereas environmental factors were more commonly associated with males in young age GC patients.

BACKGROUND Sarcomatoid carcinoma of the pancreas is extremely rare and has an extremely poor *** a few cases of sarcomatoid carcinoma of pancreas have been reported,most are focused on a histopathological *** the best of our knowledge,there are no reports documenting multimodality imaging characteristics and chronological changes with emphasis on radiologic *** SUMMARY A 64-year-old woman was admitted to Chungnam National University Hospital with acute ***-enhanced computed tomography of the abdomen revealed a 2.6 cm×2.8 cm multilobular cystic mass in the pancreatic *** pancreatic lesion showed suspected mural nodules and thin ***,mucinous cystic neoplasm of pancreas was *** 7 mo,the patient was readmitted for repeated epigastric abdominal pain and ***-up contrast-enhanced computed tomography of the abdomen and magnetic resonance imaging revealed a marked enlargement(5.4 cm×4 cm),with a predominant internal solid *** mass showed low signal intensity on a T1-weighted image and heterogeneously intermediate high signal intensity on a T2-weighted image. It showed diffusion restriction and peripheral rimenhancement on an arterial phase image, and progressive enhancement on portalvenous and delayed phase images. Distal pancreatectomy was performed. In plane micro-supercapacitors that are miniaturized energy storage components have attracted significant attention due to their high power densities for various ubiquitous and sustainable device systems as well as their facile integration on various flexible/wearable *** implement the micro-supercapacitors in various practical applications that can accompany solid state or gel electrolyte and flexible substrates,ions must be readily transported to electrodes for achieving high power ***,we show large enhancement in electrochemical properties of flexible,inplane micro-supercapacitor using sharp-edged interdigitated electrode design,which was simply fabricated through direct laser scribing *** sharp-edged electrodes allowed strong electric field to be induced at the corners of the electrode fingers which led to the greater accumulation of ions near the surface of electrode,significantly enhancing the energy storage performance of *** electric field-enhanced in-plane micro-supercapacitor showed the volumetric energy density of 1.52 Wh L^(−1)and the excellent cyclability with capacitive retention of 95.4%after 20000 *** further showed various practicability of our sharp-edged design in micro-supercapacitors by showing circuit applicability,mechanical stability,and air *** results present an important pathway for designing electrodes in various energy storage devices.

In this study,the upconversion(UC)emissions of Er3+and Yb3+co-doped SrZrO3 nanocrystals(NCs)were investigated in terms of the thermal annealing temperature and concentration of Er3+ions and compared with the emissions under a near-ultraviolet(near-UV)*** NCs were synthesized by the combustion method,and the as-synthesized NCs were post-annealed at high *** X-ray diffraction patterns revealed that the grain sizes and crystallinity degrees of the samples increased with increasing annealing *** photoluminescence spectra of our samples exhibited strong green and very weak red emissions with the near-UV excitation,originating from the f-f transitions in the Er3+***,under near-infrared(near-IR)excitation,we identified sizable visible emissions at 525,547,and 660 nm in our NCs,which indicated that the UC process successfully occurred in our *** UC emissions were maximized in the NCs with an Er3+concentration of 0.02 and thermal annealing at 1000°*** found that the intensity ratios of red to green emissions increased with increasing annealing *** discussed the differences in the emissions between near-UV and near-IR excitations.

In this study, we report the utilization of a three-dimensional （3D） porous graphene structure as liquid-vapor separation filter, which allows the passage of chemical vapors while blocking liquid chemicals and water. The blockage of liquid chemicals and water from semiconducting sensing regions is required to avoid abnormal transistor characteristics. In order to impart omniphobic characteristics, a （heptadecafluoro-1,1,2,2-tetrahydrodecyl）trichlorosilane （HDF-S） self-assembled monolayer was coated on the surface of the 3D porous graphene structure. The concentration of chemical agents in water could be consistently detected by observing the shift in the threshold voltage in the oxide nanowire transistor covered by the HDF-S self-assembled 3D graphene structure. The proposed monitoring method is expected to offer means for application in different environments by providing a stable sensing performance.

To the Editor： Anomalous right coronary artery （RCA） is rare and usually originates from the left sinus of Valsalva. An anomalous RCA arising from the left anterior descending （LAD） coronary artery is extremely rare. It is important to be aware of coronary anomalies because they may be associated with potentially serious cardiac events. Therefore, we report a rare case of an anomalous origin of the RCA from the mid left anterior descending artery （mLAD）, which presented with acute myocardial infarction just proximal to the origin of the RCA, jeopardizing both the LAD and RCA.

Recombinant interleukin-33(IL-33)inhibits tumor growth,but the detailed immunological mechanism is still ***-33-mediated tumor suppression did not occur in Batf3^(−/−)mice,indicating that conventional type 1 dendritic cells(cDC1s)play a key role in IL-33-mediated antitumor immunity.A population of CD103^(+)cDC1s,which were barely detectable in the spleens of normal mice,increased significantly in the spleens of IL-33-treated *** newly emerged splenic CD103^(+)cDC1s were distinct from conventional splenic cDC1s based on their spleen residency,robust effector T-cell priming ability,and surface expression of *** and DC precursors did not express Suppressor of Tumorigenicity 2(ST2).However,recombinant IL-33 induced spleen-resident FCGR3^(+)CD103^(+)cDC1s,which were found to be differentiated from DC precursors by bystander ST2+immune *** immune cell fractionation and depletion assays,we found that IL-33-primed ST2^(+)basophils play a crucial role in the development of FCGR3^(+)CD103^(+)cDC1s by secreting IL-33-driven extrinsic *** GM-CSF also induced the population of CD103^(+)cDC1s,but the population neither expressed FCGR3 nor induced any discernable antitumor *** population of FCGR3^(+)CD103^(+)cDC1s was also generated in vitro culture of Flt3L-mediated bone marrow-derived DCs(FL-BMDCs)when IL-33 was added in a pre-DC stage of ***-BMDCs generated in the presence of IL-33(FL-33-DCs)offered more potent tumor immunotherapy than control Flt3L-BMDCs(FL-DCs).Human monocyte-derived DCs were also more immunogenic when exposed to IL-33-induced *** findings suggest that recombinant IL-33 or an IL-33-mediated DC vaccine could be an attractive protocol for better tumor immunotherapy.
