A certain constrained dynamic game is shown to be equivalent to a pair of symmetric dual variational problems which have more general formulation than those already existing in the literature. Various duality results are proved under convexity and generalized convexity assumptions on the appropriate functionals. The dynamic game is also viewed as equivalent to a pair of dual variational problems without the condition of fixed points. It is also indicated that the equivalent formulation of a pair of symmetric dual variational problems as dynamic generalization of those had been already studied in the literature. In essence, the purpose of the research is to establish that the solution of variational problems yields the solution of the dynamic game.

Objective To investigate the effect of Lead (Pb) acetate exposure on Semliki forest virus (SFV) pathogenesis in mice. Methods Different doses (62.5, 125, 250 and 500 mg/Kg body weight) of Pb dissolved in normal saline were given to mice by oral intubation in a sub-acute (28 days) and sub-chronic (90 days) regimen followed by SFV infection. Morbidity, mortality, clinical symptoms, mean survival time (MST), changes in body and organ weight, accumulation of lead in soft tissues, virus titre in brain and histopathological alterations were compared between lead exposed and infected groups. Results Early appearance of virus symptoms, increased mortality, decreased MST, enhanced SFV titre and greater tissue damage were observed in lead exposed-SFV-infected mice. Conclusion Pre-exposure to lead increases the susceptibility of mice towards SFV infection. Further studies are suggested in view of the persistence of lead in the environment and the possibility of infection by microbial pathogens.

Second-Order Duality for Continuous Programming Containing Support Functions

A second-order dual problem is formulated for a class of continuous programming problem in which both objective and constrained functions contain support functions, hence it is nondifferentiable. Under second-order invexity and second-order pseudoinvexity, weak, strong and converse duality theorems are established for this pair of dual problems. Special cases are deduced and a pair of dual continuous problems with natural boundary values is constructed. A close relationship between duality results of our problems and those of the corresponding (static) nonlinear programming problem with support functions is briefly outlined.

BACKGROUND Direct acting antivirals(DAAs)are a very effective treatment for hepatitis C virus(HCV).However,brand DAAs are *** licensing of cheaper generic DAAs may address this issue,but there is a lack of clinical studies comparing the efficacy of generic vs brand DAA *** To compare the efficacy and safety of generic against brand DAAs for chronic hepatitis C treatment in *** This was a retrospective observational study involving 289 patients with chronic HCV infection during 2016 to *** were 149 patients who were treated with brand DAAs,while 140 patients were treated with generic *** used DAAs were Ombitasvir/Paritaprevir/Ritonavir±Dasabuvir±Ribavirin,and Sofosbuvir/Daclatasvir±*** at 12 wk post treatment was the main outcome *** Overall,87 patients(30.1%)had cirrhosis and 68.2%had genotype 1 HCV *** 12 wk post treatment,SVR was achieved by 271(93.8%)of the *** patients who were treated with generic medications,134(95.7%)achieved SVR at 12 wk post treatment,compared to 137(91.9%)among those treated with brand medications(P=0.19).Having cirrhosis[odds ratio(OR):9.41,95%confidence interval(CI):2.47–35.84]and having HCV genotype 3(OR:3.56,95%CI:1.03–12.38)were significant independent predictors of not achieving *** transaminase,gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase,and total bilirubin levels decreased significantly following therapy with both generic and brand *** Generic and brand DAAs demonstrate comparable effectiveness in the treatment of chronic hepatitis C *** are safe and equally effective in improving biochemical markers of hepatic inflammation.

Foreign body ingestion in children is considered an emergency. The most common ingested foreign bodies are coins;however, the ingestion of disc batteries is on the rise requiring urgent rigid esophagoscopy. In the literature, multiple foreign body ingestion is very rare and only a few cases of multiple coins and multiple battery ingestion have been reported in the past. Herein, a case of simultaneous coin and battery ingestion requiring foreign bodies removal on two sequential endoscopies due to improper initial evaluation in a pediatric patient is reported which, to our knowledge, is the first reported case.
