Allelopathy is prevalent in agricultural ecosystems and mediated by plant-derived secondary metabolites(allelochemicals).Allelochemicals are released by donor plants and affect the root growth and development of receptor *** is responsible for the continuous cropping obstacles in cucumber(Cucumis sativus L.).p-Hydroxybenzoic acid(pHBA),an autotoxin from root exudates of cucumber,has been proposed to be an important allelopathic ***,the molecular mechanism by which pHBA affect root growth and development in cucumber is ***,we found that pHBA treatment suppressed root growth of cucumber by reducing the meristem activity and cell *** root growth defect is caused by reduced reactive oxygen species(ROS)accumulation in root *** pHBA treatment,the expression levels of several ROS-scavenging-related genes were increased,including peroxidase(POD),catalase(CAT)and metallothionein(MT).Moreover,exogenously application of salicylhydroxamate(SHAM),a peroxidase inhibitor,can partially restore the pHBA treatment induced root growth ***,we found that there is natural variation for the inhibitory effect of pHBA on root *** also showed that pHBA treatment could maintain higher level of ROS accumulated in the pHBA less sensitive cucumber than that in the pHBA-sensitive *** results suggest that pHBA inhibits root growth by reducing root tip ROS level in cucumber.

Dihydromyricetin(DHM),as a bioactive flavanonol compound,is mainly found in“tengcha”(Ampelopsis grossedentata)cultivated in south of *** study aimed to investigate the anti-hyperglycemic and antidyslipidemic activities of DHM using type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2D)rats,which was induced by feeding with high fat and fructose diet for 42 days and intraperitoneal administration of ***-eight freshlyweaned rats were randomly assigned into the negative control(Blank),low dose(100 mg/kg),medium dose(200 mg/kg),high dose(400 mg/kg),and positive(40 mg/kg,met)*** blood glucose and body weight were measured at weekly *** glucose tolerance tests were performed on days *** results revealed that DHM possessed significant antihyperglycaemic and antihyperinsulinemic ***,after the DHM treatment,p-Akt and p-AMPK expression was upregulated,and glycogen synthase kinase-3β(GSK-3β)expression was downregulated,indicating that the potential anti-diabetic mechanism of DHM might be due to the regulation of the AMPK/Akt/GSK-3βsignaling pathway.

Polyetheretherketone （PEEK） is regarded as one of the most potential candidates of biomaterials in spinal implant applications. However, as a bioinert material, PEEK plays a limited role in osteoconduction and osseointegration. In this study, recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 （rhBMP-2） was immobilized onto the surface of collagen-coated PEEK in order to prepare a multi-functional material. After adsorbed onto the PEEK surface by hydroph（bic interaction, collagen was cross-linked with N-（3-dimethylaminopropyl）-N＇-ethyl carbodiimide hydrochloride （EDC） and N-hydro xysuccinimide （NHS）. EDCINHS system also contributed to the immobilization of rhBMP- 2. Water contact angle tests, XPS and SEM clearly demonstrated the surface changes. ELISA tests quantified the amount of rhBMP-2 immobilized and the release over a period of 30 d. In vitro evaluation proved that the osteogenesis differentiation rate was higher when cells were cultured on modified PEEK discs than on regular ones. In vivo tests were conducted and positive changes of major parameters were presented. This report demonstrates that the rhBMP-2 immobilized method for PEEK modification increase bioactivity in vitro and in vivo, suggesting its practicability in orthopedic and spinal clinical applications.

Alcoholic liver injury (ALD) is a serious liver disease resulting from prolonged and excessive alcohol consumption， with significant morbidity and mortality and closely relate to iron accumulation and ferroptosis. Ferritinophagy is the process of autophagic degradation of ferritin and results in labile iron accumulation and ferroptosis. However， whether ferritinophagy involves in alcohol-induced liver injury and ferroptosis remains unexplored. Here， we demonstrated the involvement of ferroptosis in alcohol-induced liver injury by modulating nuclear receptor coactivator 4 (NCOA4)-mediated ferritinophagy. Utilizing both in vivo and in vitro models， we observed activation of autophagy and ferroptosis following alcohol administration. Intriguingly， we found that alcohol-induced ferroptosis is autophagy-dependent， because autophagy inhibitor 3-MA (30 mg/kg bw. in vivo， 1 mM in vitro， respectively) profoundly mitigated alcohol-induced ferroptosis. We further demonstrated that alcohol-induced ferritinophagy was derived by iron overload， by showing that iron chelator DFO (100 mg/kg bw. in vivo， 10 μM in vitro， respectively) can abolish alcohol-induced ferritinophagy and ferroptosis. Moreover， we observed an upregulation of NCOA4 expression， and knockdown of NCOA4 significantly reversed alcohol-induced disturbances in iron metabolism and subsequently blocking ferroptosis. Our findings suggest a connection between ferritinophagy and alcohol-induced ferroptosis in mouse liver and HepG2 cells， highlighting NCOA4-mediated ferritinophagy as a novel mechanism of alcohol-induced liver injury. This study enhances our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying alcohol-induced liver injury， and targeting ferritinophagy may provide new strategies for preventing or treating ALD.

AIM: To examine the effect of ganoderma lucidumpolysaccharide (GLP) on the immune liver injuryinduced by BCG infection, and investigate therelationship between degrees of hepatic damage andNO production in ***: Immune hepatic injury was markedlyinduced by BCG-pretreatment (125 ***-1, 2-week, iv)or by BCG-pretreatment plus lipopolysaccharide (LPS,125 μ***-1, 12-hour, iv) in mice in *** induced by BCG-pretreated plus inflammatorycytokines mixture (CM), which was included TNF-α, IL1β, IFN-γ and LPS in culture medium in *** of GLP was performed by oral orincubating with culture medium at immune stimulisimultaneity.
