Efficient and selective extraction of uranium(U(VI))from seawater is essential for sustainable nuclear power *** study reports a novel adsorbent zeolitic imidazolate framework(ZIF)-67@SiO_(2)-A/polyacrylamide(PAM)which was synthesized by grafting the core–shell metal–organic frameworks(MOFs)-based nanostructures coated with the 3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane(APTES)functionalized SiO_(2)(SiO_(2)-A)onto PAM *** SiO_(2) shell was grown on the surface of MOF,which improved the acid-base resistance of *** introduction of ZIF-67@SiO_(2)-A enhances the specific surface area and adsorption efficiency of the *** ZIF-67@SiO_(2)-A/PAM shows remarkable adsorption capacity,fast adsorption kinetics,and good reusability for *** has excellent adsorption property(6.33 mg·g^(-1),30 d)in natural *** X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),Fourier transform infrared(FTIR),energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS)mappings,and density functional theory reveal that the coordination by N and O in ZIF-67@SiO_(2)-A/PAM with uranium is the main mechanism of uranium ***,ZIF-67@SiO_(2)-A/PAM has great potential to capture uranium from natural seawater.

Efficient capture of uranium(VI)(U(VI))from seawater is of great significance to the sustainable development of nuclear energy and environmental protection,which is also a serious challenge at *** this study,hollow Zn/Co zeolitic imidazolate framework(H-ZIF)was decorated on polyacrylamide/sodium alginate(PAM/SA)hydrogel by chelating and covalently crosslinking,and a new type of PAM/SA/H-ZIF hydrogel was *** combination of PAM/SA and H-ZIF gives PAM/SA/H-ZIF hydrogel excellent mechanical properties,good stability,and abundant surface functional groups,which is beneficial to improving the adsorption *** extraction amount of U(VI)by PAM/SA/H-ZIF is 171.14 mg·g^(-1)at C_(0)=99.52 mg·L^(-1)and pH=*** adsorption equilibrium is reached in 120 min and the adsorption process fits well with Langmuir isotherm model and pseudo-second-order rate *** PAM/SA/H-ZIF also showed good recyclability and stability after 10 cycles of *** importantly,the rate of uranium adsorption is 0.196 mg·g^(-1)·day^(-1)after 30 days,which implies that the PAM/SA/H-ZIF could serve as a potential adsorbent for the development of uranium capture from seawater.

The excellent oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)activity of Fe–N–C catalysts in acidic media makes them potential for low-cost proton exchange membrane fuel *** recent years,it has been shown that heteroatoms(B,O,S,P,Cl,F,etc.)can be used as electron-withdrawing groups to modulate the planar structure and electron distribution of the Fe–Nx active sites to achieve simultaneous improvement of catalytic activity and ***,the optimal location of the heteroatoms remains ***,taking chalcogen heteroatoms(S and Se)as an example,we control the doping positions and investigate their effect on the ORR performance of the Fe–N–C *** first coordination shell of the iron single atom is identified as the optimal doping *** optimized catalysts Fe–N_(3)Se_(1)/NC and Fe–N_(3)Se_(1)/NC demonstrate improved activity and stability in both half cells and fuel *** work provides insights into the enhancement mechanism of heteroatom doping in single-atom catalysts.

Automatic diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy using vision transformer based on wide-field optical coherence tomography angiography

Diabetic retinopathy(DR)is one of the major causes of visual impairment in adults with *** coherence tomography angiography(OCTA)is nowadays widely used as the golden criterion for diagnosing ***,wide-field OCTA(WF-OCTA)provided more abundant information including that of the peripheral retinal degenerative changes and it can contribute in accurately diagnosing *** need for an automatic DR diagnostic system based on WF-OCTA pictures attracts more and more attention due to the large diabetic population and the prevalence of retinopathy *** this study,automatic diagnosis of DR using vision transformer was performed using WF-OCTA images(12 mm×12 mm single-scan)centered on the fovea as the ***-OCTA images were automatically classified into four classes:No DR,mild nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy(NPDR),moderate to severe NPDR,and proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR).The proposed method for detecting DR on the test set achieves accuracy of 99.55%,sensitivity of 99.49%,and specificity of 99.57%.The accuracy of the method for DR staging reaches up to 99.20%,which has been proven to be higher than that attained by classical convolutional neural network *** show that the automatic diagnosis of DR based on vision transformer and WF-OCTA pictures is more effective for detecting and staging DR.

We propose and numerically demonstrate a photonic computing primitive designed for integrated spiking neural networks (SNNs) based on add-drop ring microresonators (ADRMRs) and electrically reconfigurable phasechange material (PCM) photonic switches. In this neuromorphic system, the passive silicon-based ADRMR,equipped with a power-tunable auxiliary light, effectively demonstrates nonlinearity-induced dual neural dynamics encompassing spiking response and synaptic plasticity that can generate single-wavelength optical neural spikes with synaptic weight. By cascading these ADRMRs with different resonant wavelengths, weighted multiple-wavelength spikes can be feasibly output from the ADRMR-based hardware arrays when external wavelengthaddressable optical pulses are injected;subsequently, the cumulative power of these weighted output spikes is utilized to ascertain the activation status of the reconfigurable PCM photonic switches. Moreover, the reconfigurable mechanism driving the interconversion of the PCMs between the resonant-bonded crystalline states and the covalent-bonded amorphous states is achieved through precise thermal modulation. Drawing from the thermal properties, an innovative thermodynamic leaky integrate-and-firing (TLIF) neuron system is proposed. With the TLIF neuron system as the fundamental unit, a fully connected SNN is constructed to complete a classic deep learning task:the recognition of handwritten digit patterns. The simulation results reveal that the exemplary SNN can effectively recognize 10 numbers directly in the optical domain by employing the surrogate gradient algorithm. The theoretical verification of our architecture paves a whole new path for integrated photonic SNNs, with the potential to advance the field of neuromorphic photonic systems and enable more efficient spiking information processing.

Quasi-2D Dion-Jacobson(DJ)tin halide perovskite has attracted much attention due to its elimination of Van der Waals gap and enhanced environmental ***,the bulky organic spacers usually form a natural quantum well structure,which brings a large quantum barrier and poor film quality,further limiting the carrier transport and device ***,we designed three organic spacers with different chain lengths(ethylenediamine(EDA),1,3-propanediamine(PDA),and 1,4-butanediamine(BDA))to investigate the quantum barrier *** and experimental characterizations indicate that EDA with short chain can reduce the lattice distortion and dielectric confinement effect,which is beneficial to the effective dissociation of excitons and the inhibition of trap-free non-radiative *** addition,EDA cation shows strong interaction with the inorganic octahedron,realizing large aggregates in precursor solution and high-quality films with improved structural ***,femtosecond transient absorption proves that EDA cations can also weaken the formation of small n-phases with large quantum barrier to achieve effective carrier transport between different ***,the quasi-2D DJ(EDA)FA_(9)Sn_(10)I_(31)solar cells achieves a 7.07%power conversion efficiency with good environment ***,this work sheds light on the regulation of the quantum barrier and carrier transport through the chain length of organic spacer for qua si-2D DJ lead-free perovskites.

Promoting grain production through high-standard farmland construction:Evidence in China

Food security is a strategic priority for a country’s economic *** China,high-standard farmland construction(HSFC)is an important initiative to stabilize grain production and increase grain production *** on panel data from 31 sample provinces,autonomous regions,and municipalities in China from 2005–2017,this study explored the impact of HSFC on grain yield using the difference-in-differences(DID)*** results showed that HSFC significantly increased total grain production,which is robust to various *** increased grain yield through three potential ***,it could increase the grain replanting ***,it could effectively reduce yield loss due to droughts and ***,HSFC could strengthen the cultivated land by renovating the low-and medium-yielding *** analysis found that the HSFC farmland showed a significant increase in grain yield only in the main grain-producing areas and balanced *** addition,HSFC significantly increased the yields of rice,wheat,and maize while leading to a reduction in soybean *** findings suggest the government should continue to promote HSFC,improve construction standards,and strictly control the“non-agriculturalization”and“non-coordination”of farmland to increase grain production *** the same time,market mechanisms should be used to incentivize soybean farming,improve returns and stabilize soybean yields.
