Background Saline nasal irrigation is an effective therapy for relieving common cold *** study aimed to investigate and explore the efficacy of physiological seawater nasal irrigation(PSNI)on children with mild and asymptomatic infection with *** This randomized controlled trial was conducted in Shanghai,China,and 403 children with mild and asymptomatic infection with Omicron were *** children were allocated into the PSNI group and the control *** primary outcome was the duration of viral shedding(DVS),and the secondary outcome was the change in clinical *** The median age of all participants was 5.59(6.26)years *** DVS was significantly shorter in the PSNI group[2.40(1.13)]than in the control group[3.09(2.14)](P=0.014).The multivariable Cox regression model also showed that patients in the PSNI group had an increased probability of shorter DVS compared with patients in the control group[hazard ratio(HR),1.27;95%confidence interval(CI),1.04–1.55;P=0.017].Subgroup analysis suggested that the DVS of patients without full vaccination was significantly reduced in the PSNI *** proportions of runny nose and stuffy nose were apparently reduced in the first three days in the PSNI group or the control group,but there was no evidence showing that PSNI contributes to the benefit compared with the control *** PSNI can reduce the DVS of patients with mild and asymptomatic infection with SARS-CoV-2 Omicron BA.2 variant.

Proteomic Analysis of Rice Leaves Shows the Different Regulations to Osmotic Stress and Stress Signals

Following the idea of partial root-zone drying （PRD） in crop cultivation,the morphological and physiological responses to partial root osmotic stress （PROS） and whole root osmotic stress （WROS） were investigated in *** caused stress symptoms like leaf rolling and membrane *** stimulated stress signals,but did not cause severe leaf *** proteomic analysis,a total of 58 proteins showed differential expression after one or both treatments,and functional classification of these proteins suggests that stress signals regulate photosynthesis,carbohydrate and energy *** other proteins （anthranilate synthase and submergence-induced nickel-binding protein） were upregulated only in the PROS plants,indicating their important roles in stress ***,more enzymes were involved in stress defense,redox homeostasis,lignin and ethylene synthesis in WROS leaves,suggesting a more comprehensive regulatory mechanism induced by osmotic *** study provides new insights into the complex molecular networks within plant leaves involved in the adaptation to osmotic stress and stress signals.

Comprehensive Analysis of the Molecular Mechanism for Gastric Cancer Based on Competitive Endogenous RNA Network

Objective: To explore the regulatory mechanism of competitive endogenous RNAs(ce RNA) in gastric cancer(GC) and to predict the prognosis of GC. Materials and Methods: Expression profiles of long noncoding RNAs(lnc RNAs), micro RNAs(mi RNAs), and m RNAs were obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas platform. Differentially expressed RNAs(DERNAs) were screened to construct a lnc RNA-mi RNA-m RNA ce RNA network. Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analyses were performed on the ce RNA network-related differentially expressed m RNAs(DEm RNAs). Next, the DERNAs were subjected to Cox regression and survival analyses to identify crucial prognostic factors for patients with GC. Results: We detected 1029 differentially expressed lnc RNAs, 104 differentially expressed mi RNAs, and 1659 DEm RNAs in patients with GC. Next, we performed bioinformatic analysis to construct the lnc RNA-mi RNA-m RNA ce RNA network, which included 10 mi RNAs, 65 lnc RNAs, and 10 m RNAs. Subsequently, Kaplan Meier(K-M) analysis showed that the survival rate of the high-risk group was significantly lower than that of the low-risk group, and the area under the curve value of the receiver operating characteristic curve revealed that the polygenic model had good predictive ability. The results indicated that ADAMTS9-AS1, ATAD2, and CADM2 might be potential therapeutic targets and prognostic biomarkers for GC. Conclusions: Our study has implications for predicting prognosis and monitoring surveillance of GC and provides a new theoretical and experimental basis for the clinical prognosis of GC.

Panicle Water Potential,a Physiological Trait to Identify Drought Tolerance in Rice

Two upland rice varieties （IRAT109, IAPAR9） and one lowland rice variety （Zhenshan 97B） were planted in summer and treated with both normal （full water） and drought stress in the reproductive stage. Panicle water potential （PWP） and leaf water potential （LWP） were measured every 1.0-1.5 h over 24 h on sunny days. Both PWP and LWP of upland varieties started to decrease later, maintained a higher level and recovered more quickly than that of the lowland variety. The results show that PWP can be used as an indicator of plant water status based on the parallel daily changes, and the high correlation between PWP and LWP. Similar correlations were also observed between PWP, LWP and eight traits related to plant growth and grain yield formation. PWP seemed to be more effective for distinguishing the upland rice varieties with different drought-tolerant ability. Differences in PWP and LWP between upland and lowland rice varieties were also observed at noon even under normal water conditions, implying the incorporation of the drought-tolerant mechanism to improve the photosynthesis and yield of traditional paddy rice.

Comparison of Near Infrared Spectroscopy Models for Determining Protein and Amylose Contents Between Calibration Samples of Recombinant Inbred Lines and Conventional Varieties of Rice

The near infrared spectra of 178 recombinant inbred lines （RILs） from the cross of Ⅱ-32B/Yuezaoxian 6 （YZX6） and 511 varieties in rice were acquired. A total of 80 RILs and 96 cultivars were selected as modeling samples by comparing the spectra similarity primarily. Three partial least square （PLS） regression models were developed, based on the RILs （RIL-model）, the varieties （Var-model） and their mixture （Mix-model）, for protein content （PC） and amylose content （AC）, respectively. Cross validation and outer prediction showed that the models were largely influenced by the range and distribution of modeling samples. The regression model of PC based on the cultivars and the model of AC based on RILs had higher coefficient of determination （r^2 ≥ 0.9） and lower root mean square error of cross validation （RMSECVs）. The disadvantages of RIL samples for PC model and variety samples for AC model were probably caused by the narrow range of variance. Aberrant predictions were obtained for outer sample with PC or AC outside the range or within the distribution gap of modeling samples. The Mix-models gave more reliable prediction as the distribution of RIL and variety modeling samples were complementary to each other.

Efficacy of the herbal pair, Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae and Eucommiae Cortex, in preventing glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis in the zebrafish model

Objective: In traditional Chinese medicine, the herbal pair, Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae(RAB) and Eucommiae Cortex(EC), is widely used to treat osteoporosis. Herein, we determined whether this herbal pair can be used to ameliorate glucocorticoid(GC)-induced osteoporosis(GIOP) and find its optimal dosage in ***: The characteristics of the aqueous extract of RAB and EC were separately characterized using high-performance liquid chromatography. Osteoporosis was induced in 5-day post-fertilization zebrafish larvae by exposing them to 10 lmol/L dexamethasone(Dex) for 96 h. Seven combinations of different ratios of RAB and EC were co-administered. Treatment efficacy was determined by calculating zebrafish vertebral area and sum brightness, via alizarin red staining, and by detecting alkaline phosphatase(ALP)activity. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to test the optimal dosage ***: According to the Chinese Pharmacopoeia(2015), b-ecdysone(b-Ecd) is a major bioactive marker in RAB extract, while pinoresinol diglucoside(PDG) is the major marker in EC extract. Both of b-Ecd and PDG content values aligned with the Chinese Pharmacopoeia standards. Treatment with 10 lmol/L Dex reduced zebrafish vertebral area, sum brightness, and ALP activity, but RAB and EC attenuated these effects. Combining 50 mg/m L RAB and 50 mg/m L EC was optimal for preventing GIOP in *** transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction was used to evaluate the m RNA expression of osteogenesis-related genes. A treatment of 10 lmol/L Dex decreased runt-related transcription factor 2(Runx2), osteogenic protein-1(OP-1), bone c-carboxyglutamic acid-containing protein(BGLAP), and bcatenin levels. This effect was counteracted by RAB and EC co-treatment(P < 0.05). Additionally, the effect of using the two herbal extracts together was better than single-herb treatments separately.
