Predictors for Dilated Aorta in Repaired and Unrepaired Tetralogy of Fallot

Aortic root pathology has b.en describ.d in patients with Tetralogy of Fallot, although the most common reason for repeat surgery in the adult after TOF repair relates to prob.ems in the right ventricular outflow tract, the aortic root is often forgotten. Ob.ective: We sought to determine those patients with known Fallot tetrallogy at risk for progressive dilatation of the thoracic aorta and explore the common predictors present in this patient group. Methods and Results: A multicenter ob.ervational study which enrolled 100 patients (50 surgically repaired and 50 b.fore surgical repair of TOF) with standardized reassessment of echocardiographic parameters and multislice CT angiography of the heart and great vessels data. The data were reviewed and analyzed according to the demographic, morphological, surgical and clinical details. We used standard nomograms and Z score for aortic root dimensions at the level of aortic annulus, sino-tub.lar junction and sinus of Valsalva b.sed on b.dy surface area. For surgically repaired patients, all the measured diameters across aortic annulus, STJ & sinus of Valsalva were larger in the dilated unrepaired group with mean & median of 24.63 (3.99) & 25 (15 - 35), 27.2 (4.26) & 27 (17 - 40), 35.97 (4.59) & 36 (24 - 45) mm respectively compared to a mean & median of 13.2 (2.62) & 13 (9 - 17), 14.53 (2.90) & 14 (10 - 19), 20.53 (3.40) & 21 (14 - 25) mm respectively in the not dilated unrepaired group with significant statistical difference (p value < 0.0001). Also Z score among unrepaired dilated TOF patients was larger in comparison to the non dilated unrepaired group with significant statistical difference (p value < 0.0001). For unrepaired patients, all the measured diameters across aortic annulus, STJ & sinus of Valsalva were larger in the dilated unrepaired group with mean & median of 24.63 (3.99) & 25 (15 - 35), 27.2 (4.26) & 27 (17 - 40), 35.97 (4.59) & 36 (24 - 45) mm respectively compared to a mean & median of 13.2 (2.62) & 13

Major clinical and angiographic outcome of drug eluting stents in native ostial coronary artery disease

Ob.ectives: The study was designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of drug eluting stents (DESs) in aorto-ostial (A-O) coronary artery lesions, in terms of early and late restenosis rate;including clinical assessment, non-invasive stress testing and angiographic follow-up. Also, the study was aimed to compare the results of implantation of drug eluting stents (DES) to that of b.re metal stents (b.S) in aortoostial lesions done over a previous 5 years in Royal b.ompton Hospital. b.ckground: The safety and effectiveness of DESs for the treatment of aortoostial lesions. Methods: We included 161 consecutive patients with symptoms sub.ective of angina pectoris or ob.ective evidence of myocardial ischemia;who underwent percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) in coronary ostial lesions using DES. The patients were divided into two groups b.sed on the site of ostial lesion. The control group consisted of 125 consecutive patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention for ostial lesions using b.re metal stents (b.S) implantation in the period immediately b.fore the introduction of DES. The incidence of major adverse cardiac events (MACE), including death or Q-wave myocardial infarction (MI), need for repeated revascularization procedure CAb. or angioplasty, were recorded in-hospital and at twelve months ± 3 months. Follow-up angiography was only performed in case of recurrent symptoms sub.ective of myocardial ischemia or if there was ob.ective evidence of myocardial ischemia b. stress testing. Results: The initial procedure was successful in 149 patients (92.5%) in the DES arm. There were no statistically significant major in-hospital complications in the DES group, compared to b.S group which showed 4 cases of in-hospital deaths (p = 0.017). At Twelve months ± 3 months follow-up, MACE were significantly less frequent in the DES group compared to the b.S group, including death (0.8% vs. 6.4%, p = 0.004) and need for CAb. (1.7% vs. 10%, p = 0.012). Conclusions

3D finite element analysis of composite noise b.rrier con- structed of polyurethane products

This paper presents a numerical investigation on the structural performance of an innovative noise b.rrier consisting of poly-b.ock, rigid polyurethane foam （RPF） and polyurea. The mechanical characteristics of RPF as well as the flexural resistance of the proposed wall system （poly-wall） were estab.ished and presented in another study. The experimental results are used in the current study to develop, calib.ate and verify 3D finite element （FE） models of the wall system. The components of the poly-wall including steel reb.rs, poly-b.ocks and RPF cores were simulated and then verified using the results of experiments conducted on the wall components. The results of numerical analysis exhib.ted a satisfactory agreement with the experimental outcomes for the entire wall system. The verified numerical models were then used to conduct a parametric study on the performance of poly-wall models under uniform wind load and gravity load. The findings of the current study confirmed that the structural performance of poly-wall is satisfactory for noise b.rrier application. Simulation techniques for improvement of the numerical analysis of multi-martial 3D FE models were discussed.

鸡的绿壳蛋性状主要由SLCO1b.基因上游EAV-HP逆转录病毒插入导致,虽然SLCO1b.显性突变纯合的群体都产绿壳蛋,但是蛋色深浅却仍然存在着较大差异,因此本研究认为绿壳蛋颜色深浅还受到其他多基因的影响。本研究利用455只东乡高产绿壳蛋鸡SLCO1b.基因显性纯合个体,进行了蛋色眼观分级和蛋壳色素定量测定。本研究选择前期在21号染色体定位到的关联单核苷酸多态性(SNP)位点,利用飞行时间质谱技术进行基因型鉴定,寻找与绿壳蛋色素含量相关联的SNP。结果表明:6个SNP与绿壳蛋色素含量显著关联,对应6个候选基因AJAP1、CAMTA1、SDHb.MRPS16、DJ-1和PRDM16。本研究结果对绿壳蛋鸡的选育具有重要的意义。

Electrochemical Deposition and Optimization of Thermoelectric Nanostructured b.smuth Telluride Thick Films

b.smuth telluride thick films are suitab.e for thermoelectric (TE) devices covering large areas and operating at small-to-moderate temperature differences (20 - 200 K). High efficiency and high coefficient of performance (COP) are expected to b. achieved b. using thick films in some cooling applications. b.smuth telluride thick films fab.ication have b.en achieved with Galvanostatic and Potentionstatic deposition. Stoichiometric b.smuth telluride thick film was ob.ained b. Galvanostatic deposition at current density of 3.1 mAcm-2. b.smuth telluride films with average growth rate of 10 μmh-1 and different composition were ob.ained. Effects of current density and composition of electrolyte in Galvanostatic deposition were studied. The current density affected the film compactness, where films deposited at lower current density were more compact than those deposited at higher current density. The morphology of the films did not depend on the current density, b.t chemical composition was ob.erved when different composition of electrolyte was used. Effects of distance b.tween electrodes, composition of electrolyte solution, and stirring in Potentionstatic deposition were studied. The shorter the distance b.tween electrodes, the higher the electric field, thus the higher current density was applied and the deposited film was less compact. The current density increased more rapidly with stirring during electrodeposition which leads to less compact film. Through this study, films electrode-posited from solution containing 0.013 M b.(NO3)3.5 H2O, 0.01 M TeO2 and 1 M HNO3 at 3.1 mA cm-2 for 6 hours without stirring and with interelectrode distance of 4.5 cm were free-standing with average film thickness of 60 μm and optimum film composition of b.2Te3. The crystallite size of the later films was found to b. around 4.3 nm using Scherrer’s equation from XRD patterns. Also, negative Seeb.ck coefficient for the same samples was revealed with an average value of -82 μV.K-1.

Hydraulic head difference at two sides of suspended waterproof curtain during multi-grade dewatering of excavation

This paper proposes an approach to calculate the head difference at two sides of suspended waterproof curtains during multi-grade *** seepage during the dewatering process can b. sub.ivided into three regions:(i)seepage in pit,(ii)seepage b.tween cur-tains,and(iii)seepage outside the *** flow rate of the first region is equal to the pumping rate,and the flow rate of the second and third regions can b. ob.ained b. numerical analysis.A numerical model is estab.ished to simulate the seepage in the second and third regions and its performance is validated b. using the measured data of a series of field *** flow rate of each region is then used to derive formulae for the head difference in conventional dewatering,which can b. used to determine the head difference at two sides of each waterproof curtain during multi-grade *** proposed formula expresses the head difference as a function of the relative depth of the curtain inserted into the confined aquifer,the thickness of the aquifer,the distance b.tween two curtains,and the anisotropy of the hydraulic conductivity of the *** proposed numerical approach is further validated b. using data derived from numerical *** validation results demonstrated that the predictions of the proposed approach are acceptab.e and convenient.

Ozonation of ib.profen in presence of SrWO4/ZnO photo-catalyst

The study was performed for removing ib.profen from water using ozonation with visib.e light SrWO4/ZnO *** the removal of Ib.profen,the overall reaction was carried out in a glass reactor in the presence of UV light and constant supply of *** maximum removal efficiency of Ib.profen was 93%at 0.1 mg/L initial Ib.profen concentration,and 0.35 g/L catalyst concentration keeping the contact time 30 *** a certain value,an increase in a concentration of doping agent,catalyst as well as initial Ib.profen concentration results in a decrease of efficiency of the *** prepared photo catalysts were characterized b. X-ray diffraction,FTIR spectra and SEM *** peaks and FTIR spectra has clearly shown that the doping of SrWO4 with ZnO showed b.tter result as compared to *** analysis showed that they spherical nano-composite crystals were dominant in *** character was found to reduce after ozonation of *** b. products were formed and were identified through GC-MS *** results,it was found that comb.nation of SrWO4/ZnO was ab.e to remove 93%of ib.profen and 0.4%dopping of ZnO on SrWO4 was found to b. *** pattern of b. products were identitified in GC-MS with various mass ratios as 177,92,57,*** 55%removal of b.D was ob.erved in this *** study was found to b. useful for removal of pharmaceuticals and other similar pollutants from water effectively.
