Crushed fine aggregates are widely used for full or partial replacement of natural sands in concretes. The crushed sands present different characteristics from the natural sand, especially if taking into account the content of microfine particle, the distribution of particle sizes, the shape features, besides the different lithological origin. From the rheological point of view, the crushed sands frequently provide mixtures with high yield stress, high viscosity, high cohesion and internal friction, which hinders its use in concrete. This study is focused on the evaluation of the rheological behavior of concrete mortar phase when using different lithological types of crushed sand in total replacement of natural sand. The lithological types surveyed were granite, calcitic limestone, dolomite limestone and mica schist. each of these sand types was studied in two ways： in natura and with adjusted grading curve. The results show the best performance of calcitic limestone providing lower viscosities and lower yield stress in mortars.

Liposarcoma is a malignant neoplasm of mesodermal origin, which among sarcomas, 10% to 20% are located in the retroperitoneum. The case presented shows a 50-year-old male patient who initially presented weight loss and abdominal pain in the left iliac fossa. A tumor mass of hardened consistency was palpated in virtually all the abdomen. An abdominal ultrasound and a computed tomography of the abdomen were performed and confirmed the tumor mass. An exploratory laparotomy was performed, with removal of bulky abdominal mass of greasy consistency. A histopathological study of the piece reported myxoid liposarcoma. Clinical and prognostic features, as well as oncologic outcomes, are well known in this group of patients. The patient has been in the outpatient clinic for 7 years without tumor recurrence. Computed tomography is the fundamental study for the diagnosis of imaging. The treatment of choice consists in an aggressive approach aiming the complete resection, which is a major predictor of local and distant recurrence and survival.

Water pollution caused by heavy metals ions has been gaining attention in recent years,increasing the interest in the development of methodologies for their efficient removal focusing on the adsorption process for these *** current challenge faced by adsorption processes is the adequate adsorbent immobilization for removal and ***,the present work aimed at producing a faujasite zeolite nanocomposite decorated with cobalt ferrite nanoparticles for Pb^2+ions adsorption in an aqueous medium improving magnetic removal and *** a result,a high surface area(434.4 m^2·g^-1)for the nanocomposite and an 18.93 emu·g^-1 saturation magnetization value were obtained,indicating magnetic removal in a promising material for adsorption *** nanocomposite regeneration capacity evaluated by magnetic recovery after 24 h suspension presented a high Pb^2+ion adsorptive capacity(98.4%)in the first *** 98%of the Pb^2+ions were adsorbed in the second *** this way,the synthesized faujasite:cobalt ferrite nanocomposite reveals itself as a promising alternative in adsorption processes,aiming at a synergic effect of FAU zeolite high adsorptive activity and the cobalt ferrite nanoparticles magnetic activity,allowing for adsorbent recovery from the aqueous medium via magnetic force and successive adsorptive cycles.

Diabetes is a lifelong disease characterized by glucose metabolic imbalance,in which low insulin levels or impaired insulin signaling lead to hyperglycemic *** 20 years of diabetes progression,95%of patients will have diabetic retinopathy,the leading cause of visual defects in working-age people *** diabetes is considered a microvascular disease,recent studies have shown that neurodegeneration precedes vascular changes within the diabetic visual system,albeit its mechanisms are still under *** and oxidative stress are intrinsically related phenomena,since macrophage/microglia and astrocytes are the main sources of reactive oxygen species during central nervous system chronic degenerative diseases,and both pathological processes are increased in the visual system during *** present review will focus on recent findings of the contribution of oxidative stress derived from neuroinflammation in the early neurodegenerative aspects of the diabetic visual system and their relationship with galectin-3.
